Letta then sat up, getting out of her bed, feeling as though a gun had actually pierced her head. However, Letta was slightly relieved to realize that it was just a nightmare she had experienced. Letta began to steady her racing breath, sweat dampening the sides of her face, and she could only squeeze her eyes shut tightly.

Letta didn't expect to be haunted by Marco like that. Would he do as her dream had shown if he really found her this time, Letta wondered. She then snapped out of her thoughts when the door to her room opened. "Are you awake?" Meri asked, smiling at Letta, making Letta nod her head.

"Okay, then get ready. We're going to the shop," Meri said, prompting Letta to rush to the bathroom first to freshen up.

Letta walked with Meri, carrying some shopping items towards a shop. After a fifteen-minute walk, they finally arrived at a Fried Chicken shop, and Meri opened it immediately.

"I usually open from 4 pm to 11 pm. Usually, after 7 pm, my son will help me in this shop," Meri said, making Letta nod her head again.

"You can put those chickens over there, and you can help me mix some of these spices," Meri said, making Letta start doing what Meri instructed. Although she felt awkward at first, with Meri's guidance, Letta began to understand what to do at the shop.

In the first hour of opening the shop, no one came, but after 6 pm, customers began to arrive one by one.

"Do you also take online orders?" Letta asked, making Meri shake her head.

"No, only a few customers call the shop, like regulars. So sometimes my son also delivers them. I haven't opened it online yet because of the lack of workers, not the shortage, but perhaps the lack of intention, because my son forbids me from adding employees. He says he can handle it. But if I add employees, my shop might be able to advance even further," Meri said, making Letta nod her head.

"Now that you're here, it's okay to open it online," Letta said, making Meri smile.

"Yes, that's a good idea, and it seems like you have to persuade my son, not me," Meri said, making Letta smile again. Letta also didn't know what kind of person Meri's son was, so Letta continued her work.

Customers seemed to be increasingly entering the shop, and Meri had even received some phone calls to have their chicken delivered. Letta helped Meri season the chicken, even occasionally frying them. Letta also sometimes greeted some customers who were sitting at the tables in the restaurant. Letta didn't know how Meri managed to do it alone. She must be busy. Even when Letta was helping, she looked a bit overwhelmed, until her movement stopped when suddenly someone stood near her.

"Mother really hired an employee. Didn't I say that-"

"Enough, no need to comment right now. It's better to quickly change your clothes and help me. Look, the customers have started coming in, and there are already some phone calls asking for their orders to be delivered," Meri interrupted, halting the young man's words. Letta remained silent, blinking, looking up to see a man standing in front of her.

Letta then averted her gaze when the man looked back at her, choosing to continue frying the chicken. A few minutes later, Letta saw the man had changed into the same uniform as hers, the restaurant's uniform, and took some boxes of prepared chicken.

"I'll deliver it now," the man said, who turned out to be Meri's son, making Meri nod her head. While Letta and Meri were busy serving the customers in the shop.

Letta didn't know how time could pass so quickly when she was helping Meri in the shop. Suddenly, Meri said that the chicken stock was empty, and they had to close the shop early. It made Letta look at the clock, which already showed 10 pm.

"It seems like your presence brings luck," Meri said from the kitchen, making Letta, who was sitting at the table she had just cleaned, turn around.

"Usually, we even have to stay open until midnight to finish the chicken stock because I can't resell the chicken we've prepared today for tomorrow," Meri said again, then handed Letta a cold drink.

"Thank you."

"Mother's words are exaggerated. Yet you said I brought luck when the shop closed early several times," the man, who was now sitting not far from Letta, said.

"That's different, this is the first time Letta has helped me," Meri said, making the man look towards Letta.

"Oh right, you two haven't been properly introduced, have you? This is Letta, and he's Sean, my son," Meri said, making Letta nod her head.

"So, who is she exactly?" Sean asked, looking at Letta.

"She's actually a new employee I recruited. She applied for a job at our Fried Chicken shop," Meri said, making Letta smile awkwardly, while Sean remained silent with a blank expression. Letta couldn't tell if Sean liked her presence or not, as she couldn't read his expression at all.

"Well, how about we just rest at home? We can go back now, Letta," Meri said, causing Sean to once again not understand his mother's words.

"We?" Sean asked, looking back at Meri.

"Yes, because from now on, Letta is also staying with us," Meri said, making Sean about to open his mouth, but his mother quickly raised her palm.

"You can ask later when we're at home, because right now I'm tired. And look, Letta seems to be too. So it's better for us to go home and tidy up this shop and lock it," Meri said, making Sean immediately swallow his question and choose to do as Meri said. They locked the shop and hurried back home, which wasn't far from the shop.

On the way, Meri chatted with Letta, while Sean followed the steps of the two women in front of him. Sean kept staring at the side of Letta's smiling face, looking towards his mother. Sean didn't know where his mother had picked up a woman who was suddenly invited to live with them. This made Sean furrow his brows, looking suspiciously at Letta.
