Trapped I can't escape from the Billionaire -
Chapter 92
Marco continued to grip his hair tightly, with no definite news about Letta's condition after nearly twelve hours had passed. He couldn't see Letta with his own eyes. After the attempt to take Letta to the small hospital yielded no results, Marco promptly instructed Pedro to prepare a helicopter and take Letta to the major hospital in their city.
When the helicopter landed on the hospital roof, drawing the attention of many, Marco swiftly ordered Pedro not to make the situation worse. What he needed to focus on now was how to get Letta immediate care. Several hours had passed, but the doctor hadn't come out to give any updates on Letta's condition. Marco rubbed his face roughly, ignoring the ringing phone and reports from Pedro, who was only observing Marco from the end of the corridor while receiving updates from some guards.
Pedro realized that this wasn't the right time to provide information to Marco, so he chose to gather all the information before waiting for Marco to calm down. Finally, what Marco had been waiting for arrived when the doctor opened the operating room door and approached him.
"How is my wife?" Marco asked with his cold voice. His facial expression reflected exhaustion, concern, anxiety, and visible fear. He just wanted to hear that Letta was doing well.
"Can we talk in my office?" the doctor said, making Marco rub his face roughly.
"Don't waste time, just say it here, is she alive or not?" Marco asked, gripping the doctor's surgical uniform, making Pedro want to approach but restrain himself when he saw the doctor not provoked by Marco's emotions.
"Your wife is still alive, so can we talk in my office?" the doctor, who seemed to know who Marco was and how his emotional level was, finally released Marco's harsh grip before leading him to his office. He sat in front of the doctor who was looking at the surgery report.
"We managed to remove the bullet from her chest. Fortunately, it didn't hit her heart. If it had gone just a little deeper, I might be giving you a different report now," the doctor said, leaving Marco silent with his fists clenched. "Then?" Marco asked with his icy voice.
"The operation went smoothly, but we can only keep her heartbeat going," the doctor said, making Marco furrow his brow once again.
"Can you provide information that's easy to understand? I don't want confusing information that makes me think longer," Marco said, making the doctor let out a long breath.
"Your wife is in a coma," the doctor said, making Marco's chest feel tight and painful just by hearing it.
"I can't ascertain how long your wife will be in a coma, but it seems to be caused by the gunshot to her chest. And there's one more condition I need to report," the doctor said, making Marco feel his heart racing faster. He felt like he was rapidly going up and down.
"Your wife is currently about four weeks pregnant," the doctor said, leaving Marco pale as if his world stopped upon hearing that Letta was carrying their child again.
"What kind of information is that?" Marco asked, still staring sharply at the doctor.
"Your wife is pregnant, but her condition cannot be determined yet. Because she is currently in a coma," the doctor said, making Marco slam the table hard. Then, he gripped the doctor again until Pedro, who had also entered the room, held his master's shoulder.
"Please calm down, Sir. We haven't received clearer information from this doctor yet," Pedro said, sounding slightly whispered, making Marco finally release his grip.
"How can you say that my wife is in a coma but she's pregnant? What about the fetus she's carrying? Will its condition be the same as its mother's?" Marco asked, making the doctor silent again, as if contemplating how to answer Marco's question.
"We will do our best to sustain the fetus. The fetus can still develop as long as the mother's heartbeat remains stable, and with the equipment we've installed, we hope everything will go more smoothly. Miss Letta is also expected to regain consciousness soon," the doctor said, making Marco rub his face roughly. How could the situation become this complex? Why did he never know that Letta was pregnant? The doctor said she was four weeks pregnant, which meant Letta was already pregnant before Marco took her to meet his family, Marco thought, finally turning back to the doctor.
"Can I see her?" Marco asked, making the doctor nod. Marco hurried out, followed by Pedro. Letta had been moved to a special room with adequate medical equipment, with the fetus in her womb, Letta's body was filled with medical devices unfamiliar to Marco. The nurse examining her condition came out, allowing Marco to see his wife from a restricted distance.
Marco didn't know what to do, he just looked at Letta's pale face. It had been over a week since he last saw that face, and somehow his heart ached at the sight of Letta, who appeared fuller than before. Did Letta truly live happily without him in just a week, Marco wondered. The change made him feel deeply cut, even though he distinctly remembered Letta's gaunt face looking increasingly miserable with him. But within a week, Letta's cheeks looked fuller again. Should Marco feel sad or happy about Letta's condition without him?
