Marco just stared blankly at Edward and Helena, who came to see him at the hospital, making Helena rub her face roughly.

"Mommy doesn't know how many times Mommy has come to see you in the hospital just because of that woman. Is her life just about coming in and out of this hospital? Then, what about her current condition? What happened to her that she could become this bad?" Helena asked, receiving reports from her subordinates who were spying on her son. Helena was somewhat surprised to hear that Marco had brought Letta to the downtown hospital using a helicopter, but she didn't get any further information. Therefore, Helena dragged Edward to meet Marco, who looked somewhat disheveled. For a week, Marco had abandoned his duties at the office and let his two secretaries handle the work, choosing to stay at the hospital to accompany Letta.

"What actually happened?" Edward asked, taking over the conversation, making Marco finally sit down.

"We can talk outside," Marco said in a cold voice, making Edward and Helena follow their son. They arrived at the hospital garden, and Marco gazed at his parents.

"There was an unexpected incident that required Letta to undergo surgery. The operation didn't go as I wanted. What frustrates me even more is Letta's condition, who is carrying my child. She's pregnant, four weeks now," Marco said, making Helena widen her eyes. Marco seemed no longer able to hide Letta's condition after previously trying to conceal her miscarriage. Helena always knew because Marco knew his mother wasn't foolish enough not to seek information about her

son.

"What actually happened to that woman? Why does she always bring misfortune to you?" Helena said, making Marco stare at her sharply.

"Never refer to Letta like that. Her condition is like that because of me, because I couldn't protect her," Marco said, leaving Helena silent. It was the first time Helena saw Marco look at her so coldly. That gaze was rarely shown, especially in front of Helena, until Edward finally stroked his wife's shoulder.

"We need to understand Marco's condition. Perhaps he's anxious about Letta's situation. It's better to give him some time. We can monitor him from a distance, and I will offer help if he needs it," Edward said, trying to explain to Helena. Helena looked at her husband with raised eyebrows.

"Do you think your son will honestly ask for help from us after having his own power? He won't depend on us anymore. Even his problems have never been shared with us, especially since that woman entered his life. He seems like no longer my son," Helena said, then left Marco in silence.

Edward approached Marco and embraced his son's shoulder. "I understand your situation because I also have a wife. Although I don't know what you feel for that woman right now, think about it. Don't let yourself and that woman suffer. Let your anger be enough, whatever you may show her," Edward said, as if knowing what Marco was feeling. Marco was sometimes a little amazed by his father. Despite appearing indifferent and not too involved in his affairs, his father always knew what Marco needed at the moment.

"Alright, then I have to catch up with your mother. You know, she's hard to persuade when she's angry like this," Edward said, leaving Marco alone in the garden. Marco fell silent, as if contemplating his father's words. Rubbing his face roughly, Marco tried to dig into his own heart, questioning whether his treatment of Letta stemmed solely from his anger. Was it all just revenge? Was it just hatred, anger filling his mind, or was there another reason? Was Marco doing it because he was afraid of losing Letta, afraid of losing their bond, afraid Letta would leave, especially if there was no reason left to keep them together, especially if the fetus was no longer between them?

Marco's thoughts continued to haunt him, making him feel like the worst man in this world, torturing a woman who was so afraid to leave him. At first, it might have felt right, but it turned out to only make him suffer more, especially with Letta's current condition. Seeing blood drench Letta's body made Marco's heart seem to stop, especially when hearing that Letta was on the brink of life and death.

Perhaps if God is merciful, He will restore Letta and their second fetus. But if God wants to punish me, it must be easy for Him to change everything, Marco thought, then hurried to see Letta's condition. Marco didn't want time to deceive him, didn't want something to surprise him again, didn't want to lose Letta for the umpteenth time.

As he ran from the garden to Letta's room, Marco saw the monitor indicating Letta's heartbeat was still beating. That meant Letta was still there, still holding on. Although Letta might be experiencing incredible pain, Marco hoped she would remain strong, especially with the life growing inside her womb. However, Marco didn't know what he should do now to get Letta back to him quickly, even though the bitter reality might only deepen the hatred Letta felt for him. Marco didn't

care.
