Trapped I can't escape from the Billionaire -
Chapter 95
Marco must have just briefly left Letta's room to talk with Pedro. But when he returned, Marco halted his steps as he saw several nurses rushing out of Letta's room. His heart raced, sensing that something terrible had happened to Letta. Marco continued walking, where he saw a doctor examining Letta's condition. Even Letta's breathing apparatus had been removed by the doctor. The doctor was checking Letta's pupils when Marco approached. "What happened?" Marco asked the doctor, causing the doctor's movements to halt.
"You can wait outside. We will further examine the patient," the doctor said, while a nurse pushed Marco out. Marco didn't even dare to resist. He could only look through the reflection on the large glass window in front of him as the nurses and the doctor checked Letta's condition. Marco still couldn't calm down, not knowing what was happening with his wife. Eventually, some of the attached devices were removed, making Marco's heart beat wildly. What was the meaning behind the doctor and the nurses doing this? Why were Letta's devices removed so suddenly, Marco wondered, choosing to push through the door once again.
"Why did you remove the devices? What's actually going on with my wife's condition?" Marco asked, making the doctor finally nod to the nurse who was holding him back.
"We should be thankful because the nurse who checked Letta's condition earlier noticed that she could move her hand. She even slowly opened her eyes, and that's a significant improvement. It indicates that she has come out of the coma that has lasted almost four months," the doctor said with a broad smile, leaving Marco silent, unable to respond properly to what the doctor was saying.
"So you mean, my wife is conscious now?" Marco asked to confirm, making the doctor nod.
"Yes, for now she has truly passed the coma stage, and we need to monitor her condition as well as the fetus thoroughly. That's why we will monitor her in as much detail as possible," the doctor said, making Marco feel something stirring within him, a sense of relief that made him feel like he could breathe again as if someone had been strangling him for several months. Marco then walked back towards the window of the room, observing the nurse who was keeping an eye on Letta's condition.
There, Letta looked as usual, as if she were sleeping, but the difference was that there weren't as many devices attached to her body. Marco reached out and touched the large glass in front of him. It was as if Marco wanted to get closer to Letta and hold her hand, to make sure whether her hand felt warm or still cold as it had been for the past few months. Marco didn't know how long he stood in front of that glass, after the nurse allowed him to enter. Slowly, Marco stepped closer to Letta.
Somehow, Marco felt a deep longing for the sparkle in the eyes that always gazed at him with fear. But that wasn't what Marco hoped for this time. Marco wanted to see Letta looking at him with her beautiful eyes, without any fear or hatred. But it seemed that Marco had to swallow that bitterness because all the wounds he had inflicted were too deep for him.
Marco then reached out and tried to hold Letta's hand. Although it still felt cold, Marco could feel the pulse in her wrist, making him sure that he could finally breathe easy and get his wife back.
"You opened your eyes when I wasn't by your side," Marco said, sounding like a whisper with his heavy voice.
"Have you been waiting for me to not be by your side, only to open your eyes then? If so, should I leave your side so you can regain consciousness?" Marco asked, his words alone already making his heart ache. Marco truly had no intention of leaving Letta or letting go of the woman who was still lying weak. Even if Letta tried to push him away, Marco would stick to his decision. He would treat Letta as best as he could. Marco would bear all his sins and the cruelties he had inflicted on Letta. Even though Letta might always hate him, at least Marco would still hold Letta to stay by his side.
Marco fell silent while gazing closely at Letta's still pale face, gently stroking her cheek.
"I miss the rosy hue on your cheeks," murmured Marco, imagining a smile that might adorn his lips. Would all of that return when Letta regained consciousness, Marco wondered, as he finally tried to remain still, hoping Letta would open her eyes again, and this time, only he would be able to see her. Marco could still hear the ticking of the clock so clearly in his ears, and the sky began to change from day to night. The chirping of birds sometimes gave way to the silence of the night, making Marco faithfully wait for Letta, who was occasionally examined by the doctor and the nurses monitoring her condition. Until finally, Pedro approached Marco, who had not left Letta's ward for several days.
"I'm sorry, sir, there's something you must handle in person, and it can't be delegated," said Pedro, making Marco fall silent for a moment before rising from his seat.
"Even the last time I left her, she opened her eyes, and when I returned, she was lying like this again. So, should I really stay away from her?" asked Marco, seeming to ignore Pedro's words. Pedro just bowed his head, looking towards Letta, who still didn't move an inch.
"I will do whatever you command, sir," Pedro said again, seemingly unable to persuade his master. Eventually, Marco stood up.
"Should I handle it myself this time?" Marco finally asked, making Pedro nod.
"It seems Jacob has started causing trouble. He disrupted our flight systems a few days ago and has begun breaching the security of our hotel. I don't know what terrorist intentions he has right now, or maybe it's because of your decision to remove him from the Chicago project," Pedro said, making Marco fall silent. It seemed that Jacob realized with his current vulnerability, making him bold enough to send such terror to his businesses. Marco finally rubbed his face roughly. "Fine, I'll be the one to teach a lesson to my dear cousin. I want to see how much he can withstand my anger this time for daring to disturb me from this silence," Marco said. After that, he was about to leave, but once again stopped when he noticed Pedro looking startled. Marco recognized the expression on his subordinate's face. He could see Pedro now looking behind him, where Letta lay. Marco finally turned around, and there, he was even stunned.
His heart began to beat rapidly again as he slowly saw Letta opening her eyes. How Marco had longed for these moments, when Letta finally turned slightly and looked at Marco with her weak gaze. They fell silent, as if sensing that time around them had stopped. It felt quiet and lonely, only the pounding of his heart and the gaze fixed on the woman who remained unmoving, with her eyes blinking weakly, looking at him with a vacant stare.
Marco didn't know whether he should walk closer immediately or continue to stay in place like this, so Letta wouldn't close her eyes again.opening her eyes
