Twisting Her Fate -
Chapter 29
Connor kisses Leilani's cheek and moves her to the seat beside him, motioning with his head for Terrance to follow as he walks to his study to meet Harvey. Connor sits in the main seat, the office has been tidied up since the mess that was created yesterday, the office looking as normal and boring as always, no sign of the exaggerated reacquaintance that bordered on for*play.
Connor waves his hand, indicating for the other two to sit in the chairs opposite.
"I want to start works on the alpha house"
Harvey and Terrance both show their shock. No one has set foot in that house since the untimely passing of the majority of the alpha family. Connor moved straight into the pack house after that, even though in normal circumstances he was too young to move into the pack house at the age of fourteen, but at the time it was either that or live alone in the alpha house, when he still had to overlook everything that was happening inside the pack house and out, it allowed him more access and more knowledge. Luckily, even at a young age, Connor had an alpha aura that was proficient enough to be able to keep control of all the wolves even though he was years off getting his own. But it did not make for a very fun experience, leaving his family home behind abandoned full of happy but painful memories. The proof that he had to shoulder so much so early. Of course, Harvey's father helped out a lot, as there was only so much at school age kid could actually do. What couldn't be dealt with by correspondence had to be dealt with by Harvey's father, as no one in the human world is going to take a fourteen-year-old seriously.
But even though they managed to make it work, there is a reason why an alpha and beta pair are usually around about the same age. The communication between a man that is his father's age and Connor was good, but they had a lot of different ideas about a lot of different things. As people from different generations often do.
Harvey's father wanted to strive for the pack to run the exact same way that the pack had always been run. Where as Connor, wanted to go with his own ideas. They managed to replace a good balance between them both and managed to make it through until Connor was able to get his wolf and become the true Alpha and Harvey was able to take over from his father.
"What do you want to do with it?"
While it needs a little bit of tidying up done to get it up to scratch, it is far from a bad house back in its day. It was magnificent.
"I want to convince Leilani to stay and be my luna and it is a pivotal part of the plan. I want to have plans drawn up and even works in progress as soon as possible. I want it fitted out for her and I to live in. But I also want a room for each of her five brothers to live in if they choose. Maybe even have plans drawn up of five residences around the central alpha house and bring options to the table"
Terrance nods, understanding now why he is included in the conversation, because he will be part of the solution in convincing Leilani, as it will be his job to convince Levi, who then can help convince his brothers once all the boys are on board. Leilani will have no excuse. Harvey looks at Connor with a little apprehension.
"Is that what you really want? To move her and her brothers in?"
"Of course that is what I want"
"You want a luna that is off pack half the time and still running around and doing dangerous missions? You want a luna that spends all her time with other men?"
"Harvey, I want Leilani and if that's what it takes for her to stay, then I don't care what happens. She is meant to be my partner, not my prisoner. She should be free to live her life as long as she is always coming back to me. Whether she is here or far away, I know that she will make a great Luna and if something came up, no matter what was going on, I know that she would drop everything and be back here in a heartbeat" "If you are sure?"
"I have never been more sure of anything"
"This isn't just a rebound from Maggie?"
Only Harvey within the stormy pack knows about Maggie. Not because Connor is embarrassed by the situation. Rejections happen all the time. If she can't see his value, it's not on him. It's on her. No one would feel pity for Connor, they would just laugh at Maggie for being so stupid. It is just because they don't want to get the pack to get excited about a luna that is never going to come.
"Harvey, I've been moping for six months and that is because of Leilani. It has nothing to do with Maggie at all. If anything, I feel a sense of relief that Maggie did what she did, so then I am able to have this chance of winning over Leilani. The only reason I even thought about Maggie is because I didn't think I would ever have a chance to cross paths with Leilani again"
Terrence nods and interjects.
"It is true. I have heard about the situation with Maggie but there was not much emotion involved in it. I've heard an awful lot of complaining about a certain girl with white blonde hair that left him very naked and very alone" "See, even if it stops me complaining, isn't it worthwhile?"
"Connor, it is not that I'm trying to be negative. It is just said I want you to make an informed decision not based on her beauty, not based on how much fun she is. Not even based on how good she is in bed, because this is serious. Something like taking someone as a chosen mate, marking them and making them the luna of the stormy pack is not something that you can rush into or even just follow your desires blindly. It is something that can affect us all"
"I know that. I'm not just following my d*ck and jumping into things randomly on a whim, for the first time in a long time I know exactly what I want and I'm willing to do whatever I can to achieve it. I saw it, even from the first time I saw Lani in the club. I knew that she was my future happiness. Back then, that made no sense. I thought I was crazy. Anyone in the world could have walked into my office yesterday, but she did. Anyone in the world could be mated to Gabriel, but she is. I believe that this is a weird twist of fate. I just feel like this is meant to be and, even if it isn't what is meant to be, I feel like that is more important"
Connor pauses, leaning back on his chair, looking up at the ceiling.
"You saw what fate had in store for me. The b*tchy, sl*tty girl that doesn't even want me because she thinks she is too good for me. I have no interest in that whatsoever, from here and I choose my own fate and I've decided that my fate is Leilani and nothing you can say will change my mind"
Harvey nods, it's not that he doesn't like Leilani. It is just that he grew up with the same belief as Connor that the moon goddess is always right, so it makes him slightly apprehensive to go this way. But he has done his research on Maggie and everything that Connor says is true. There is nothing much of value to her and Connor can't make someone that is not interested in him like him.
Anyway, that is not the type of life he wants for Connor. Connor has already gone without the love of family for long enough, to push him into a relationship without love. It's just pushing him to his doom.
"Okay, let's talk about the alpha house"
"Well, we need at least six bedrooms with en-suites. Probably provision for a guest room and maybe look at the idea of being able to add kids rooms later. I want it modernized and I want all the drawings done as soon as possible so I can present them to Leilani in my speech about why she should stay with me"
"Okay, I will contact our design team as soon as possible"
Connor nods as Harvey leaves the room to complete the task at hand and Conner turns to Terrence.
"What do you think about the whole thing?"
"Apart from the fact that you are asking me to live with you as well, which is something I never thought would happen"
It is a lie, Terrance was often offered a space in the alpha house and he knows that Connor would have protected him the best he could. Back then, he wasn't ready to be viewed as the weird warlock living with wolves, so he just kept to himself. "Shut it, I am being serious"
"Leilani is good. She is good for you, I think she will be good for the pack and if you can convince Levi and the others to stay close, that will be good too. I am a bit too much of a homebody to be travelling around like they do. I don't really want to live out of a hotel room at all stages"
"You know Harvey is right in a way. I never really envisioned having a luna that was not always by my side, but now that I've met Leilani, what I want has changed a lot. I'm hoping if they have somewhere that they can properly call home and people to come back to, that they will make more of an effort. Four of them are still yet to replace their mates. When they do, that will change everything again. If they have somewhere like the alpha house where their mates will be safe while they do what they need to do, I think I can talk them into it. It is not practical for them and all their mates to be on the move all the time. I think I can talk Leilani into accepting me"
"I know you are going to ask me to talk to Levi about it, but from what I've noticed, they all look to Leilani for the plans and she means so much to them. Whatever she does, they will fall in line, especially if you are willing to have them and have their mates without changing their group arrangement. The family is very important to them. You accept her family and you are halfway there" Terrance lounges back in his seat with a look of schadenfreude.
"Did you know that there are probably not many men that would accept their mate hanging out with five other handsome men all the time?"
