Twisting Her Fate -
Chapter 38
"WHAT THE F*CK"
Gabriel's roar shakes the whole twentieth floor, the walls shake, shelves rattle. For the five women that are peering out the door of the other room, fear courses through their systems. They are scared. They all tremble as they watch the man with pulsing veins, anger radiating as he rips the whole room apart. The basin is ripped off the vanity unit. The wall of glass shelves are all empty and smashed to pieces, shards of glass litter the floor, pieces of rubber have glass embedded, pieces vibrating, making little trails through the mess, the odd buzzing sound lost in the noise of the destruction around. The bed is flipped over.
Gabriel's roar and deep growl coupled with the shattering of glass, the splintering of ceramic makes a cacophonous noise one like the twentieth floor has never heard before and there has been some foul play and many terrible people come through the twentieth floor.
Gabriel stalks out of the room and storms to the lift, riding down, caring little for the five women that are watching him anxiously.
As soon as the elevator opens on the ground floor, he stalks straight out, grabbing the woman at the counter by the throat. The manager rushes out and tries to ease the situation. "Who checked in to the room 204?"
The manager has seen Gabriel lots of times before this and his father, Lance even more, but he has never seen him in this condition and he is incredibly frightened. "You...you...you know we can't release that information"
"Tell me now or I'll snap her neck"
Gabriel's grip on the receptionist tightens and the girl starts to turn blue. The manager enters the system.
"It was booked by a Leilani"
Gabriel's hand opens, instantly releasing the girl, who falls straight to the floor in a gasping mess. Signs of a bruise already showing up on her skin.
"Impossible"
"That is what it says sir"
Gabriel walks around looking at the screen. He starts to feel dizzy as he looks at the name he never thought he would see again.
"Pull up security vision of her"
"You know we don't have that here"
Gabriel has the urge to pull managers head from his shoulders to end his miserable life.
"Well, who can tell me what the hell she looks like then?"
The beauty that is still sprawled on the floor gasping for breath, rubbing her throat that has a visible handprint embedded in her skin, coughs as she tries to speak. Her voice is slightly hoarse.
"She was incredibly beautiful, she had pale skin, a seductive figure and her most unique feature was her white blonde hair"
The manager looks helplessly at the girl on the ground before him. His attention goes back to Gabriel, who seems to have calmed down slightly, but nearly looks woozy with the information.
"But sir, they haven't checked out, they should still be up there"
While the manager wouldn't usually sell out clients, he would like to get the crazed man away from him and his staff and even though Gabriel is acting crazy now, he has bought good business to the place and a lot of money. He is a lot more valued client than two randoms that will probably never return. "There is no one up there"
"Impossible"
"There is a lot of that going around, isn't there?"
Gabriel is close to passing out. White blonde hair and that same scent. It can't be possible. It cannot be true.
She is dead.
His mate is dead. He sent her to her death himself. So what is this? Is someone playing a trick on him? But no one knew, no one knew what he could smell, no one knew that she was his mate.
Not his father, not Maggie. He did not share that information with a single other soul, planning to take it to his grave.
Planning on living on the lie that he never found his fated mate.
No matter how weak Leilani was back then. It is frowned upon for him to kill her in the way he did. To never acknowledge her, to go into the wedding with Maggie, that is never meant to happen if he found his fated mate. "Who was she with then?"
"He was handsome, dark hair, well built body, tall"
Gabriel yells.
"F*CK"
Making the girl swallow the rest of her words, not that she had many more, in this situation, telling Gabriel how handsome the man was would probably not help in anyway.
Gabriel has the urge to wring the girl's neck once more. What use is that? It could be anyone. Dark hair and tall, it is fifty percent of the werewolf population. He has not smelt another scent at all, so the vague description coupled with the lack of scent means nothing, absolutely nothing.
Gabriel stares at the screen again, the name Leilani just remains and the rest of the screen blurs, it just haunts him, like the ghosts of his past hidden in a single word, a single name. Gabriel punches the screen, wishing to rid his eyes of the name he never wanted
to see.
Gabriel stumbles away, pieces of glass embedded in his fist and a sizeable hole in the screen that has turned black.
Gabriel makes his way back out the closed door into the luxurious lobby of the fancy hotel. The customers look at the man in shock who looks completely disheveled, blood runs from his fist and drips on the immaculate white floor, he is still shirtless, his powerful body on full display, his eyes look hollow and lost as he walks forward like he is heavily intoxicated. He somehow manages to make it through the two large sliding glass doors. No one dares approach him.
Gabriel replaces his car, keeping enough reason to know that he cannot shift in this moment, but he struggles to negotiate the car out of the crowded area with his blurry mind and glazed eyes.
Once clear of the city, Gabriel plants his foot, sending the car flying forward. Gabriel swerves wildly on the road.
Connor and Leilani arrive back at the Stormy pack. They walk into the pack house smiling hand in hand. Connor leads her straight through to the alpha room. Connor's large hands move up under Leilani's tanktop, softly caressing her skin as he removes the top, he embraces her, kissing her slowly and softly, putting all his feelings into the kiss.
Her hands move under his shirt, working their way up his skin, feeling all the contours as she breaks the kiss to take it over his head. Their eyes lock as they move back to each other, soft skin meets strong skin, both warm, both tender. Their lips capture and nothing else in the world matters.
Connor backs her up, his hand cradling the back of her neck and the other on her lower back as he ever so gently starts lowering her down on to the bed. Her back hits so softly on the soft quilt like she is gently on a cloud, gently immersed in the softness.
Connor comes down on top of her, his movements slow and full of feeling as he looks at the beautiful woman under him. The woman that is making him feel feelings so strong, feelings that he was starting to think were out of reach, feelings he didn't think he deserved.
His lips capture hers as they enjoy each others bodies. Pouring feelings out in their movements, in their kisses, in their touch.
***
Connor's serum has long worn off. In the half moon pack, Maggie's scream echoes through the pack house. There is no sign of the alpha. The soon-to-be Luna is writhing in agony and the whole pack feels disjointed. Maggie tries and fails numerous times to pick up the phone. This pain is worse than any that came before. Maggie is tempted to take a silver dagger to her heart just to alleviate the pain, carve out this agony.
No amount of screaming or moving helps. Finally, she blacks out as the pack members watch on.
Numerous members have tried to link the alpha but all they get is static. Lance pushes his way through the crowd and frowns when he sees the woman that is splayed out unconscious on the ground.
All her movement has made her small clothing bunch, leaving nearly everything on display. Most of the warriors have seen it, touched it, f*cked it.
But it is still not a good look for the woman that is meant to be the Luna in only a few weeks.
"Where the hell is Gabriel?"
Lance throws a questioning eye around the pack, leaving Maggie in her compromising position. The pack members can only lower their eyes and shake their head.
No one knows where he is and they have no idea what is wrong with Maggie. The leadership seems to be crumbling around them. A surge of unease starts to crawl through the half moon pack, a pack is only as strong as its leaders. And right now the half moon packs leaders are anything but.
