Twisting Her Fate
Chapter 51

In Rosalie's college, the group have found out all that they can learn. Not many people in the college were even her friends. She was a pretty girl but softly spoken, so while people would take a second look, no one would particularly take enough notice of her to remember her whereabouts. And after all, an entire month has passed. The college students are packing a lot more in their brains than remembering what happened to a particular girl that wasn't even their friend.

The security footage is the most valuable and Hudson, in his time in the car, has managed to locate her laptop which is showing in the school library. So, after an extensive search, they actually found it in the lost and found box, amazed at the fact that it had not been stolen. Maybe no one cared enough to look in the lost and found, but after verifying that it was in fact Rosalie's, they then proceeded to steal it.

Arlo's devilish smile and his bad boy good looks managing to charm the middle-aged librarian enough that she didn't even know what day it is, let alone that the group was walking out with an expensive piece of equipment that was not their own. While, they haven't got much stuff and got enough to get them started.

It isn't long before they're back in the hotel room. All of them set up around the table with computers scouring the footage while Hudson works on Rosalie's laptop. Hudson taps Leilani on the shoulder and his fingers fly across the keyboard of Leilani's laptop.

"Maggie visited Connor"

Even though they are all busy, they take a quick break to watch the footage from the pinhole camera. Leilani smiles after and the boys nod their heads in approval of Connor's words and actions. Leilani picks up the phone and calls Connor after she watches the last part where his face is filled with worry and he dashes out of the room.

In the stormy pack, they have just settled Addison's pain and Connor has carried her to the couch. The phone in his pocket rings. He pulls it out with a smile on his face as soon as he sees the name on the screen. "Hi babe"

"I just saw the footage"

"Did you like it?"

"I did, but Connor, what happened after?"

Leilani sneaks away from the group as she speaks to Connor.

"Ohh that crazy b*tch knocked Addison off the ladder on the way out and Addison broke her arm"

Leilani lets out a sigh of relief and her grip on the phone slightly loosens.

"I hope Addison is alright"

Connor listens to Leilani's tone, which seems somewhat relieved.

"What did you think happened? Did you think I ran after Maggie?"

That is exactly what Leilani thought, that Connor realized he made an error in judgement and chased after her.

"It wouldn't be impossible, would it?"

"Leilani, listen to my every word. For me it would be impossible. You are the only one that I want"

"Sorry"

Leilani has no idea where her insecurity is stemming from. Maybe it is because she's on the very cusp of handing over her heart. It is a fragile time. While appearing strong on the outside, her heart has being very sheltered within the elite group. She hands out her body freely, but the heart is a different matter.

It's not that she does not have trust in Connor, it is not that she can't see his feelings for her. It is just that it is such a delicate situation. The mate bond is not meant to be fought against.

"There is nothing to be sorry about"

Connor chuckles, a hint of joy shining in his steel-gray eyes, his eyes have a new depth, a new warmth to them when he is talking to and thinking about Leilani vs the biting coldness they had when he was facing Maggie.

"I will take it that you are jealous and you being jealous means that you care about me, so I'll take it as a good thing"

Leilani laughs. The insecure feeling she had only moments ago disappears as she jokes with him.

"Well, now I just think you're blowing things completely out of proportion"

"Sure sure"

Connor is actually elated. The short absence already feels like a relationship has improved. For some reason, the absence seems to have brought them closer at an exponential rate.

"I had better get back to work"

"Okay, give me a call tonight"

"I will"

Leilani hangs up the phone. Connor just smiles down at his phone with a blank screen before joining Terrance watching over Addison. Addison has gone to sleep with the potion that Terrance made. She will wake up when she is completely healed. The two stand, leaning against the wall, looking over her.

"No matter which way I look at it, I cannot for the life of me work out why the moon goddess would give me such a mate, she is so vicious, she is nothing like what I imagined for a luna for the stormy pack. While I didn't have many expectations nor did I expect a lot, but look at her attitude, she is so ruthless, she would bring the whole pack to its knees"

Terrance can only nod.

"I cannot understand it either. Why did she do so well with my match yet leave you with her?"

"Maybe she was drunk that day"

Terrance laughs and pats Connor on the shoulder.

"Maybe the logic will become clear soon or maybe we will never know"

"Whatever, in some messed way, she did me the biggest favor as Leilani is back in my life and if that means I have to bear with the confusion of being mated to that, then that is what I will do"

In the hotel, Leilani walks back into the room. The boys quickly check in to see that everything's alright before getting back to work. Silence feels the room only there tapping of keys and the clicking of a mouse are heard. The concept of doing all this is hardly foreign to the group. Not all of their jobs are action packed, fight to death. A lot of it is just monotonous, but as long as they are in the group they don't really mind.

Five sitting bodies jump as the silence is interrupted in an abrupt way.

"I found something"

Hudson yells, pumping his fist in the air and celebration. He loves getting a victory on the computer, taking great pride in his skill, especially when it is helpful to the cause.

He broke into Rosalie's laptop long ago, but after a lot of searching through meaningless things and school work, he was finally able to replace a clue.

Five bodies gather around him with five sets of eager eyes on what he has found.

"Sweet little Rosalie was a bit of a freak"

He skips through the various photos sent via a werewolf-only chat room. Lots of private messages with others. A lot of black latex and an awful lot of restraints. Looking like the sweet little Rosalie, can either be the dominant or the submissive, so very versatile. "Well, while I wasn't expecting that, is it helpful?"

It was probably unnecessary for Hudson to show the photos because they don't really have much relevance, but he just wanted to share his shock and a bit of insight into the girl never goes astray anyway. Hudson gets to the actual point of the story, invading peoples personal photos does not deserve a victory call.

"It does when she has agreed to meet one of these people she was chatting to at a local cafe on the day of her disappearance"

This is exciting news as there has been no other lead of this type from anyone else, so if it was possible from a different location, they might have opened up the realm of possibilities.

Hudson's fingers fly across the keyboard once more as you pulls up the security feed from the cafe. It is not long till they have found Rosalie. Unfortunately, it just shows her sitting waiting for someone pulling out her phone and then walking out of the cafe. After tracing security cameras, they see her getting into an unmarked car and that is as far as they get.

"Hudson, you work on the chat room and the person that she was aiming to meet"

Now that the search is gone away from the college, they don't even bother scouring through the security footage. It might come up with something, but it could be hours and hours of nothingness.

The others have basic hacking knowledge but they are heavily reliant on Hudson. Titan recognized his skill and he has had a lot of training to hone it, so the others are leagues behind. In most cases, that is fine, but at this moment, he is the most important person and the others can do little to help him. Providing back up where they can and following little leads.

There is no point informing alpha Baxter of progress until they get some sort of result. Even letting him know that she wasn't even at the college when she disappeared would be a devastating blow to him, knowing that they concentrated all their efforts on nothing. "I was just thinking, if she had this other side of her and all the apparel from the photos, she must have stored it somewhere, her room was the most vanilla place I have ever entered"

The boys nod and start that search, leaving Hudson with his large task.
