Tiffany ended up in a warm embrace. As the elevator doors slid shut behind her, she saw her stunned reflection in the elevator's walls. She also saw how Vincent's head was bowed slightly as he held her tenderly. They were in such an intimate pose. Vincent's ear was pressed against hers; their body temperatures mingled. Tiffany could even hear his slightly heavy yet suppressed breathing.

She was lost for words. What had just happened? Why had Vincent just hugged her for no reason?

"M-Mr. Lewis..." Feeling uneasy, she balled her hands into fists and pushed him lightly.

That was all it took for him to back away. In fact, Vincent staggered backward. It scared Tiffany so much that she hurriedly reached out to steady him. "Mr. Lewis?"

She felt ill at ease. He wasn't trying to con her, was he? She hadn't applied much strength when pushing him away, though. He looked toned and fit. So, why was he swaying on his feet from a light push? Suddenly, a warm liquid dripped onto Tiffany's face. She looked up to see what it was and where it had come from. Then, she was gobsmacked. "Mr. Lewis, you're bleeding!"

Vincent was bleeding... from his nose. The blood trickled from his nostrils and down his lips and jaw. It gave Tiffany such a fright that she became ashen.

Fortunately, they were at the company. Once they were back at Vincent's office, Alex hastily called Vincent's doctor.

Tiffany and Alex waited outside as the doctor tended to Vincent. Alex glanced at the lounge and asked in a low voice, "What happened? Why did Mr. Lewis suddenly get a nosebleed?" Tiffany still looked baffled. She shook her head. "I don't know. It came out of nowhere."

"Did something happen? Did he bang his nose against something? Or did you say something to piss him off?"

Tiffany didn't say anything.

"Why has your face gone red? Say something!" Alex had genuinely lost his composure. He'd worked for Vincent for many years and knew how healthy Vincent was. He rarely fell sick, let alone got a nosebleed.

Tiffany's face became even redder. She couldn't bring herself to say anything, though.

What could she say? That Vincent had hugged her?

Alex wouldn't believe her even if she were to tell him the truth. Heck, she herself didn't believe it had happened.

But in hindsight, it didn't look like

Vincent had wanted to hug her. Perhaps he'd already been so uncomfortable that he couldn't

stand straight.

It would explain why he'd suddenly pulled her to him-he'd wanted her to hold him up.

Tiffany felt better at that thought.

Vincent was a proper gent hugge

would never have purposely

Wr

or taken advantage of her.

After a while, the door to the lounge opened. The doctor, Jacob Harvey, came out.

Alex hurried over. "How is Mr. Lewis, Dr. Harvey?"

"He's fine. Maybe it was something he ate."

"Something he ate?" That confused Alex. "What could it be? Is there anything in his diet that needs to be changed?"

Jacob shook his head. "Mr. Lewis' diet has always been healthy. There's nothing wrong with it."

"Could it be because he's been pushing himself too hard at work?"

Jacob shook his head again. "I asked him about it, but he said that wasn't it."
