"Should we take her to the hospital?" Madeline's voice was laced with concern.

Tiffany shook her head weakly. "No... No need for the hospital... I just need to warm up... I'll be fine..."

She turned her eyes to Vincent. "Mr. Lewis... why... did you come?"

Vincent's voice softened unconsciously. "I was worried. I feared you might do something desperate, but it didn't seem like you. I didn't expect this..."

"Desperate?" Confusion crossed Tiffany's face. "I didn't..."

"Then, why lock yourself in the bathroom with the air conditioning turned so low?" A hint of reproach colored Vincent's tone, though it was unclear if it was directed at Tiffany or himself. Tiffany bit her lip. "It was Brianna..."

"Brianna? She did this?" Madeline's frown deepened as a surge of protective anger coursed through her. "I knew she was trouble! As if stealing your boyfriend wasn't enough, she's hurting you in such a way now! Just how malicious can she be?" Vincent frowned. "We can't let this go. Alex, call the police and handle this."

As he spoke, a coolness touched the back of his hand. Glancing down, he saw Tiffany's hand emerging from under the blanket, fumbling as if searching for something.

It brushed against his own.

Vincent raised an eyebrow subtly while Tiffany's face flushed crimson. She quickly withdrew her hand. "I... I was looking for my phone."

"It's here." Vincent reached for the phone on the desk and passed it to her.

Tiffany took it, but her shivering was so intense that she couldn't hold the phone steady, let alone unlock it.

Vincent took the phone back. "Let me help you. What's the password?"

Tiffany hesitated briefly before

revealing it. Vincent unlocked the phone and angled the screen toward her. What do you want to see?"

"The... call... log," she stammered.

Vincent opened the call log, revealing dozens of missed calls. The calls were mostly from Alex, along with a few from himself.

There were also several from an unmarked number.

"Want to call this one back?" Vincent asked, pointing to the unknown number.

Tiffany recognized it as William's number.

She'd deleted it after their breakup, and he hadn't reached out since. Why the sudden influx of calls?

"No... no need," she murmured.

As if on cue, the phone rang.

Vincent glanced at the long string of numbers. "It's him again. Want to answer?"

Tiffany shook her head. Vincent ended the call and placed the phone beside her pillow, moving to pour her a glass of warm water.

Meanwhile, Alex was on the phone with the police just outside the room when he spotted William.

Vincent's strained family

relationships were mostly a secret

only to

within the company, known secret

Alex due to his long tenure by Vincent's side.

Alex had no desire to greet William

and turned to open the door to room 3203. Just then, William's hand

reached for the handle as well.
