Until We Met Again ( Rowan and Johnson ) -
Chapter 5
Chapter 5
“Karla?” He looked at her quizzically, his voice laced with a tenderness Karla had failed to
notice.
“You calling me?” Karla pointed at herself, her tone laced with uncertainty.
His expression grew even more perplexed. Karla, at that moment, couldn’t care about anything else and walked over to ask him, “Are you Johnson?”
Why would you suddenly call me that name?”
At his response, Karla immediately pressed, “Do you have another name?”
He cocked his head to the side, his slender eyes blinking behind his glasses, the long lashes giving off an innocent charm that was lethal to the female heart. After a pause, he said, “Karla, are we playing a new game or something?”
“What new game?” Karla was baffled for a moment, but quickly snapped back, her voice. sharp with demand, “Cut the crap, I’m asking you.
“Heh.” He couldn’t help but chuckle softly, bringing the hand to his lips, his indulgent gaze fixed on her. He spoke gently. “You haven’t changed a bit, have you? Johnson’s my stage. name. I’m Rowan. Have you forgotten?”
“Rowan?” Karla frowned, pondering for a moment before asking, “How do you spell that?”
Seeing her serious demeanor, though not understanding her game, Rowan played along and gently took her hand, tracing the letters ‘Rowan” on her palm.
His fingers were attractive, long and slender, with nails neatly trimmed. Karla almost got distracted by his hand, but as he finished, she silently mouthed his name: Rowan.
Karla began to suspect that the reason she couldn’t replace any information on Johnson online was that he was actually using the name Rowan.
As this thought crossed her mind, her eyes widened in shock, and she suddenly pulled her hand back, retreating several steps from him.
Karla had two theories now: either she was dreaming–she pinched herself hard, ouch, not dreaming–or, much worse, she had gone bonkers.
“I’ve gone mad! I’ve been looking at men all night and now I’ve lost it.” Karla covered her face, pacing anxiously, feeling like she was on the brink of insanity.
“Looking at men?” Rowan’s eyebrows quirked, his voice dropping a notch, “Who have your been looking at?”
“You!” Karla retorted, taking a deep breath and closing her eyes in an attempt to regain her
composure.
Little did she know, at her words, the man opposite her allowed a pleased smile to curl his

lips, his gaze fixed on her as he chuckled, “Karla, what present have you brought me this time?”
Karla’s eyes snapped open, puzzled, “Present?”
Rowan felt a headache coming on. He let out a small laugh, shaking his head, but his eyes held no blame, only indulgent fondness and a touch of helplessness.
He gave a wry smile, then unfastened a watch from his wrist and secured it onto hers, saying, “This is for you. I wasn’t sure when you’d come by, so I kept it with me. Now, it has found its rightful owner.”
The watch had a rose gold case and a brown alligator leather strap, with a vintage automatic movement that screamed expensive.
The watch bore his warmth. When she put it on, there was no icy sensation. Karla was now puzzled. She didn’t recognize him at all, but he seemed strangely familiar to her.
“Sir. Oh? Ms. Karla, you’ve arrived.”
Just then, a voice came from behind. Karla turned to see an elderly gentleman with kind and gentle eyes walking towards them, clad in a suit and holding an old–fashioned camera.
Upon seeing him, Rowan’s lips curved into a smile, and he greeted warmly, “Hey, Burk.”
