Chapter 35

Kasens POV

He had said his loyalties are to Selene. To our cause. He said that under the truth serum. I may be a cynic but I can’t go against that. When Sam wakes up will be able to know for sure.

“Thank you for your answers, Jason.” I say and he nods.

“I know it may be hard to believe but I do side with Selene. What our kingdom has done is wrong. I know that now.”

I sigh. “You have to see from our point of view. Up until a couple of hours ago, you were hell bent on killing and or kidnapping my mate and queen. All of a sudden you say you’re on our side?”

He bows his head in shame. “I’m not proud of what I’ve done. But haven’t you ever been misled, or forced into doing something you don’t want to do? We bears have alpha commands just as you wolves do. When commanded be a higher rank we cannot disobey. Not to mention the King has threatened all of his warrior’s family members saying, ‘if we ever were to betray him such as his son did then the penalty for the whole family line is death.’ I didn’t want to risk my family being killed. I was led astray by a manipulative piece of s**t. I see now why Theo left. I can help. What can I do to prove myself? I can give you as much information as I know.” he said.

“Okay then. What is the next step for the Bear king?” without waiting for a response he answered. “We planned on staking out and watching. Our attack was going to be the first day of spring.” That gives us a little over 2 months to prepare.

“I know he has the Council helping him. What is the plan? How does he expect to get to total power?” I asked.

“His plan was to kill your mate first. Like I said before she is your weakness. He would kill you shortly after while you were stuck grieving. After that, his plan was to wipe out the whole council leaving him to be the only one in charge. Once that happened he would wage war on the Humans.” I stood there for a second. He plans on attacking the humans too. This guy has lost his marbles.

“I know you don’t trust me yet but I am one of your only inside help. I will pledge my loyalty; I will do anything to be of assistance. I have an idea but only if you deem me worthy enough. He doesn’t know you’ve captured me. I’m still on good graces with the King. Send me back. I can gather intel, movements, weapons intel, anything you need from the inside.”

Having a guy on the inside would be a turning point. But can I trust him?

“When my Luna wakes up I will converse with her. She has a direct link to the Goddess, the same as me. I trust her input. After that we will make a decision.” He nods. I walk out of the room and look to Theo.

“He’s all yours for now. I am going to check on Bryan in the hospital.” Theo nods and walks in the room. I leave to give him privacy.

I get to the hospital and see josh posted outside of a door. I grasp his shoulder and thank him for everything.

“How is he doing?”

His posture relaxed, and he answered, “Doc is in there now checking in on him.” I nod and knock on the door but don’t wait for a reply before going inside.

“Evening Doc, how’s he doing?”

He bows his head. “Evening, your majesty. He is out of the danger zone for now. It was a silver bullet to the gut. We extracted all of the silver, but it’s up to his wolf to finish healing him. But the prognosis is good.”

I nod and look at Bryan. I place my hand on his and try to connect with his wolf. It is hard to connect with a wolf who Is dormant due to silver injuries, but I will do my best. The connection is fuzzy. ‘I feel him there, but he is too weakened to respond.

‘All of his energy is going to heal his human.’ Atlas says.

‘Can he hear us?’ I ask, and he says yes. I open the connection to his wolf again and talked to him.

‘You do what you can to save this man. You and he are heroes. You saved my mate, your queen today without a second thought. I am proud to call you my warrior. I am indebted to you.’ I squeeze his hand and cut the link before he can respond. His wolf needs to save as much energy as he can. I leave the room and relieve josh of his post.

“You deserve a night off. Relax,” he smiles.

“Thanks, Kasen.” he says. I hope the goddess gives him a second chance. He truly deserves it.

I make my way to my apartment on the top floor. I see David sitting on the couch reading the paper.

“How did everything go son?” he asked. I don’t actually mind him calling me that. It felt good.

“As well as can be. You were a great beta. I have a question for you.” He sat up and looked at me to continue. “So one of the prisoners was given truth serum. Under the influence of it, he pledged his allegiance to Selene and our cause. He gave us the intel we wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. He suggested going back to the bear king to be our mole. Our way of getting information from the inside.” He nods taking in the information.

“You’re having trouble trusting him though?” I nod.

“He was one of the bears who attacked Samantha and Gemma. I have a warrior in the hospital from it. He said he was following orders. That their commands work sort of like ours. An alpha command cannot be disobeyed. But even still, what if I trust him and this backfires on me.”

He rubs his chin and then responds. “He said all this while under the influence of the truth serum. He was under an Alpha command. I personally would take his offer of him being a mole. That’s a lot of potential information we could get. It would put him in extreme danger though. If he’s willing to do it he would be risking his life. If he’s caught they’ll kill him.” He makes a good point.

“I will talk with Samantha when she wakes up. She is my mate. We work best when we work together. We are one big well-oiled machine.” He smiles and pats my shoulder.

“You’re a good guy.”

With that, I go check on my mate. Lucy is sitting in a chair next to the bed and knitting. I can picture Samantha doing the same thing when she is older.

“How’s she doing?” she jumps a little. She is just like Sam. She clearly gets so into what she’s focusing on that she doesn’t pay attention to her surroundings.

“Sorry didn’t mean to startle you.” I say with a chuckle. She narrows her eyes playfully.

“She actually just woke up about 20 minutes ago. She asked for you I told her you would be here soon. She fell back asleep after that.”

I thank her for watching over her and they leave. I strip my shirt and trousers and kick off my shoes. I stay in my boxers and climb into the bed next to her.

‘Gemma love, can you bring Sam some dinner? You or mom actually. I don’t want to leave her anymore today. How are you feeling by the way Gemster?’ I link. I hear her sigh through our connection.

‘You may be king, but you call me Gemster again and I will kick you in the balls.’ I laugh.

‘Please don’t, Sam likes them too much for you to damage them! All are joking aside. How are you feeling?’ I feel the tension she gives off.

‘Im shaken up, but I’m okay. If it weren’t for sam Training me I wouldn’t have survived that fight that’s for sure. But I’m okay. I’m alive. Jake is here taking care of me. I will have mom bring some food to your apartment. Wait I thought Lucy made food for you all?’ she asked.

‘That would involve me having to get out of bed. My mate has been deprived of me too much today.’ She fake gags through the link, and I chuckle. Sam snuggles closer to me and I wrap my arms around her and k**s the top of her head.

“You’re here.” she says all groggily.

“I’m here love. How are you feeling?” I ask.

“Like I got hit by a mac truck. How is Bryan?” I go about explaining everything to her, going over what Jason said in the cells.

“So what do you think? Can we trust him?”

She thinks about it for a second. “I would like to meet him personally. It’s hard to say. I will say I’m concerned. If it was an Alpha command to capture me and bring me in, how do we know he still isn’t under the command?” good question but easily answered.

“There’s something about the way the truth serum works. It kind of resets the brain. Any command he was given was ineffective.” I say and she nods.

“Well, then I want to meet him. Not right now. I just want to spend time with you. Akira misses Atlas.” I chuckle.

‘LET ME OUT I WANT MY MATE.’

I sigh. “Atlas wants out to see Akira.” She nods and gets out of the bed. Before I know it a silver wolf is standing before me and jumped in the bed. Acting like a typical dog and twirling around to replace the perfect spot.

I don’t even strip from my boxers. I shift into my black wolf and jump up on the bed. I release the reigns to Atlas and let him spend time with his mate. They curl around each other and she lays her head on her paws. Atlas licks the top of her head, the side of her snout, nips at her ears and rubs his face into her neck.

After nuzzling his mate for a few minutes Akira starts to purr and Atlas lays his head on her back and they just snuggle. Fused together like a Yin and Yang sign.

‘They really do love each other.’ Sam linked me.

‘We all love each other. I love you Samantha just like I love Akira.’ Atlas said.

‘And I love you Kasen just as much as I love Atlas. We are all mated. We are bonded for life. I am just as much a part of Samantha as Atlas is a part of you. You are one in the same.’ I can’t help but smile at both of their words. We got blessed with some wise wolves, that’s for sure.

‘Damn straight you did.’ Atlas playfully spits out. I revel in how soft Akiras fur is.

‘I wonder what color our pup would be when we have one.’ I say. She gives me a wolfy grin.

‘Who says I want only one?’ atlas playfully growls, and I do as well. He jumps up and they play wrestle for a bit. In our culture, it is normal for our wolf counter parts to mate together in their form. And that’s exactly what happens after he mounts Akira. I go further back in my mind to give them their own privacy.

I’m thrusted back into my own mind and I open my eyes. I’m back in my human form with Sam wrapped around me sleeping. It’s early morning and I stretch. Careful not to wake up Sam.

‘I take it you enjoyed yourself?’ I asked Atlas.

‘Oh, definitely. If there’s no pup in her belly by now ill be shocked.’ I mentally laugh.

‘I don’t even want to know how long you and she went at it.’ He starts projecting mental images into my head and I roll my eyes.

‘Didn’t need to see it. But I am glad you are happy.’ He gives me a wolfy grin, yips. I start to think about what she will look like with her stomach swollen with our pups. I instantly smile. Then I realize today was the Mating Ceremony. Today she will officially become my queen and Mate.

As if sensing my thoughts, she wakes up and stares at me with her bright green eyes. “Morning, my love. Ready for tonight?” I ask. She tenses up.

“I’m a little nervous.” She admits.

“You have nothing to worry about. You will be great. We will have the Ceremony, the coronation, then we will take the pack for a united run. We can invite all of our guests and other supernaturals to join us too. This day is about you. Well, me and you but I want to pamper you.”

I’ve never wanted to dote on someone’s hand and foot before. I’ve never wanted to pamper anyone before. I am so in love with this woman it drives me crazy, and I feel myself falling for her more and more every day. I brush the back of my hand on her cheek and nuzzle my nose with hers.

“I love you, Samantha Layne. After tonight you will be Samantha Edwards. Queen of the Werewolf Kingdom. You will be my number one. Not that you’re not now but you get what I’m trying to say.” She chuckles and leans into my hands.

“I love you too Kasen Edwards. I can’t wait to be officially yours.” Her cheeks flush and I lean down and k**s her, holding her cheeks between my hands.

“I can totally get used to doing this all day every day.” She playfully slaps my arm.

“You’re so bad.” She chuckles out.

“Come on let’s get ready for the day.” she says and drags me to the shower. But oh how I wish we could have stayed in bed a bit longer.
