When Left -
CHAPTER 134
When she left, He went crazy
Chapter 134 Win Back His Wife
A few days ago, when Skylar had asked me if I was worthy, I hadn’t given it much thought. But now, as Kimberly’s harsh accusations stung my ears, accusing me of dragging Christopher down, I felt a pang of hesitation.
After all, Christopher had suffered multiple injuries recently, all on my account.
In that moment, a haunting “what if gnawed at me. What if Christopher had married Kimberly instead?
The Harris family was both affluent and influential. Kimberly wouldn’t just avoid causing trouble for Christopher; she would likely contribute significantly to his success. Together, they could achieve unimaginable heights.
Whereas with me, it was another story.
I looked at Kimberly’s righteous stance. For the first time, I found myself at a loss for words, unable to refute her
accusations.
In my silence, Christopher suddenly chuckled softly. His voice, though calm, cut through the tension. “Miss Harris, do you actually like me?”
“Who–who says that?” Kimberly stammered, her posture stiffening. “I do like you, and I will marry no one but you!”
Christopher reached out, pulling me gently to his side, his thumb tenderly rubbing the back of my hand. “Really? Do you like me, or the head of the Valence family?”
Christopher’s blue eyes fell on me, filled with emotion. “Even if I weren’t the head of the Valence family, she would still be my wife. And you, would you still insist on marrying me?”
With just a few words, Christopher tore apart the facade of the grand family alliance.
Originally
evident.
had believed that Kimberly genuinely liked Christopher. But after his pointed remark, her fury became
‘Does this worthless love have any meaning? I want to marry you, whether it’s for love or for a powerful alliance; it doesn’t matter!” she retorted, her voice seething with frustration.
Christopher smiled faintly, playing with my hand, and said indifferently, “Then you might as well go replace Cecil Lewis; he’s single.”
Kimberly didn’t miss a beat. “He has a scheming stepmother and a difficult grandmother. It’s too complicated. If he really takes over the Lewis family, my family would have to invest a lot of connections and money. You’re more suitable. The Valence Group is in your hands, and your father is a womanizer. Marrying you is the best choice.”
After Kimberly finished speaking, Brenda’s face turned dark.
Brenda’s face darkened as Kimberly’s blunt words hung in the air. She had invested considerable effort into facilitating Kimberly’s marriage to Christopher, but Kimberly’s disregard for Brenda’s support was palpable.
She couldn’t hold back her reprimand. “Miss Harris, your words are a bit…”

Kimberly frowned unhappily and, with an air of arrogance, snapped back, “What’s wrong with my words? You don’t really think a stepmother can be a true mother, do you? It’s fine to put on a show at home, but don’t embarrass yourself in public.”
Brenda almost couldn’t catch her breath, her face turned red with embarrassment. Fearful of the Harris family’s influence, she could only cast a pitiful glance at Christopher, hoping he would defend her. After all, he had once repaid Brenda, his stepmother, by disregarding my dignity as his wife countless times.
Unexpectedly, Christopher seemed oblivious, merely smiling as he spoke, “I may be good in many ways, Miss. Harris, but I’m not is single. I have a wife.”
His tone was calm, yet undeniably firm. As he finished speaking, his fingertip lightly traced my palm, the featherlight touch sending a tingling sensation through my entire body.
Kimberly’s face tightened. “Just because you’re married doesn’t mean you can’t get divorced. You’ve already made plans
to end things!”
Christopher frowned. “Can’t you see?”
“See what?” Kimberly shot back.
Christopher’s expression remained calm yet undeniably earnest. “I don’t want a divorce. In fact, I’m trying to win back. my wife.
I stared at Christopher in astonishment, unable to tell if he was speaking from the heart or just using it as an excuse to reject Kimberly.
Kimberly gritted her teeth, her face betraying a flicker of reluctance before she quickly masked it with a confident
smile.
“Christopher,” she retorted sharply, “maybe we haven’t known each other long enough. You have no idea how rebellious I am, spoiled rotten by my parents. I’ve never been denied anything I wanted. The more you love her, the more determined I am to become Mrs. Valence and replace out just how amazing it feels to be in her place!”
Kimberly was so different from Evelyn. Evelyn always had to put on a facade of purity in front of others, while Kimberly had nothing but disdain for such pretense. She wore her intentions on her sleeve, unabashed and unapologetic.
After making her declaration, Kimberly strutted out on her high heels, embodying the entitlement of a pampered princess. Brenda, sensing Christopher’s markedly different demeanor today, hesitated. “Christopher…”
“Brenda, have Donald Quill arrange a driver to take you home,” Christopher replied coldly, avoiding her gaze.
Brenda’s mouth hung open slightly, and after a long pause, she had no choice but to comply, leaving with a mix of confusion and resentment. She shot me a venomous glare before stepping out.
I couldn’t help but ask, “You seem to be treating Brenda Valence differently?”
Christopher smiled, though it was tinged with disappointment and a hint of guilt. “I discovered the truth. I didn’t want to believe you at first, but since it involved my mother, I had to investigate.”

I looked at Christopher in surprise. “Then why didn’t you…”
“Why didn’t I send her to prison?” Christopher cut in, suppressing his emotions. His eyes narrowed slightly. “Given the company’s current situation, creating more trouble isn’t wise. But there are myriad ways to deal with this.”
I nodded, sensing it was best to leave it at that. How to handle Brenda was a Valence family affair and had nothing to
do with me.
Gathering my thoughts, I withdrew my hand, intending to review the document Christopher had mentioned. But before I could, he seized my hand again.
Christopher’s deep eyes locked onto mine. “Darling, besides you, I have nothing.”
I avoided his gaze. “I feel the same way when you broke your promises.”
Christopher tightened his grip on my hand. “I will make it up to you.”
I took a deep breath, meeting his eyes with a calm resolve. “But I’ve grown accustomed to it. I’m not like Kimberly Harris. She craves what she can’t have because she’s used to getting everything. But not me. Life has taught me to let go early, to accept that most things are beyond my reach.”
All the trial and error, the courage and the fallout, I bore alone. But in some ways, I had forgotten that Christopher and Kimberly were cut from the same cloth.
Christopher’s gaze bore into me, his lips parting slightly as he coaxed, “It’s okay. I’ll take the next ninety–nine steps. Just stay here and wait for me–don’t take that last step back. Hope Royston, I’m serious. I will make amends. I don’t want to lose you.”
