When Left -
CHAPTER 32
When she left, He went crazy
Chapter 32 She is My Wife
Having been pregnant, it was the worst sleep I’ve ever had.
I kept telling myself that he was just my ex–husband, but emotions were something I couldn’t control.
The next morning, heading out to work with dark circles under my eyes, Christopher halted me in the hallway.
He was dressed in a tailored iron–gray suit, which made him appear even more cold and unapproachable, but his perfect features and physique made him exceptionally outstanding.
He handed me the thermos bag, not allowing me to refuse. His voice was cold as he said, “Take your breakfast.”
“Okay.”
I did not refuse but accepted it calmly.
I didn’t need to purchase breakfast at the moment. As the father of the child, it is only fitting that he prepare breakfast
for me.
Upon seeing this, he revealed a subtle smile at the corner of his mouth and said, “I’m also heading to the office. Let’s go together.”
“Well, we’d better keep our distance in case your sweetheart picks on me.”
“She won’t.”
“And you admit she’s your sweetheart?”
With a hint of sarcasm in my tone, I uttered these words before stepping out of the house and entering the elevator.
In the underground parking lot, a familiar Maybach was parked next to my car.
Ignoring it, I got into my car and was about to start the engine when Donald knocked on my car window with a big
smile on his face.
He has always treated me well, and I shouldn’t blame him for what occurred with Christopher.
I rolled down the car window and said, “Donald, what’s wrong?”
“Mrs. Valence, good morning.”
Donald, appearing polite yet slightly embarrassed, smiled. “When I arrived earlier, I might have run over a nail, and now my tire is flat. Could you give me a ride to the office? It’s quite difficult to get a cab at this time.”
1 chuckled. “Get in the car.”
“Let me drive. You injured your foot recently. You should get some rest.”

“Okay.”
I quickly got out of the vehicle, relinquishing the driver’s seat to him as I settled into the backseat.
After fastening the seatbelt, I realized something. Confused, I asked, “How did you know I got injured the night before
last?”
“That day, Mr. Valence and I…”
Donald’s words were cut off as he saw Christopher, with a cold expression on his face, coming out of the apartment building. Donald nearly choked on saliva, coughing incessantly.
our car.
Then, he looked at me for help and said, “I forgot to mention to you that Mr. Valence also needs a ride in your
…… Alright. After some hesitation, I had to agree.
Donald hadn’t said anything to Christopher yet, but Christopher had already smoothly opened the rear car door.
“What?”
He bent over to get into the car, his posture relaxed. “The last thing you said was incorrect,” he remarked.
I still needed to understand what he was talking about.
Frowning, I thought for a moment until the car drove out of the parking lot before I remembered what I had said.
“What’s incorrect?” I just said it out loud, and my heart started beating faster, implying anticipation.
‘I never admitted it.” He spoke in a low voice, very briefly.
I didn’t know whether to be happy or disappointed. I lowered my gaze and said, “Alright.”
Following his words, the conversation ceased, rendering it awkward for me to ask Donald the earlier question.
When we used to work together at the company, he would always ask Donald to park in a discreet location and let me get out of the car first so that people wouldn’t know I was his wife.
Today, I was ready to get out of the car, but the car just drove straight past without any intention of stopping.
I looked at Christopher doubtfully and saw his deep eyes staring back at me.
Before I could speak, he asked me in a deep voice, “Why are you looking at me?”
“If you don’t look at me, how can you be certain of my scrutiny upon you?”
“Am I not allowed to look at my own wife?”
He shamelessly uttered these words.
I couldn’t bring myself to ask the question I had in mind.

The Valens Group building stood tall and imposing, its facade covered in a multitude of glass panels that sparkled like diamond cuts in the morning light.
Donald parked the car in the parking lot, and I immediately got out, wanting to escape from this embarrassing place.
“Good morning, Hope!”
Connie suddenly ran over from not far away, full of energy, and greeted me enthusiastically.
I smiled and pulled her away. “Good morning. Let’s go inside, it’s very cold today.”
“Hope, you forgot to take your breakfast.”
Behind me, Christopher opened the car door and got out, calling out to me.
I took a deep breath, turned around, brought the breakfast over, and spoke as distantly as possible, “Thank you, Mr. Valence.”
Connie hooked my arm and leaned in, winking ambiguously. “When did you two get together? Are you Mr. Valence’s secret wife?”
“No…”
I didn’t want any possible incidents to happen before my divorce. If Evelyn found out about this, she might cause trouble again, so I instinctively denied it.
As we were talking, Christopher, with his tall stature and long legs, had already passed by us.
He definitely heard everything Connie said clearly, but he didn’t say anything in response.
Connie widened her eyes as the private elevator for the CEO closed. She exclaimed in shock, “Hope, it’s no use denying it now. Mr. Valence has already admitted!”
“When did he admit it?
“Silence is a tacit admission!”
I was unable to refute it.
I was feeling useless, seeing how I couldn’t even argue with these fresh–faced youngsters entering the world.
Connie, on the other hand, was more restrained. After entering the elevator, she remained silent.
She continued to talk to me excitedly, non–stop, until she entered my office.
“Were you and Mr. Valence really married three years ago? Do you have any children?”
“No wonder Mr. Valence used to close the windows whenever he entered your office. I didn’t realize the relationship between you two!“

I was so helpless. “Connie.”
With a start, she said, “Mrs. Valence, please give your orders.”
Her performance was too exaggerated,
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Make me a cup of coffee. Also, don’t address me like that.”
“Okay.”
She quickly took big strides away and soon returned with a cup of coffee.
She leaned on my desk with both hands and asked in a pleasing tone, “Hope, can you get tickets to Eason’s concert?”
Eason was a very famous male singer, and his concert tickets usually sold out within seconds.
This time, his concert in Jacquar was sponsored by a fast–moving consumer goods brand under the Valence Group, so the Valence Group should have had internal tickets.
I was surprised. “Are you also a fan of Eason?”
“Yeah, are you a fan of him too?”
“Yes, especially during my college years, I loved to listen to his songs.”
I smiled wistfully and agreed. “Go to work quickly; I will figure out a way to get you the tickets.”
After Connie left, I opened the bag and saw not only breakfast inside but also a jewelry box with a note attached to it.
[Happy eighth anniversary, Hope.]
Upon glancing at the calendar, I found myself momentarily frozen in astonishment.
Did he also remember that today was the anniversary of our first meeting eight years ago?
