Chapter 13
“No, of course not!” Neil denied quickly. He even wondered if he had upset Gina.
Since Neil wasn’t intending to switch doctors, Gina was unaffected. If Neil didn’t want her help, he could say so.
“You can tell me if there’s something else. No need to look for Dr. Genevieve, Gina hinted. It was the best she could do. After all, she didn’t know Neil well. However, Neil was generous. He paid her 10 million dollars for her treatment last time and two million dollars for the medicine this time. In return, Gina was generous too.
“Sure.” Neil nodded. “Hungry, lass? Let’s go out to eat.”
“Okay,” Gina replied.
When Gina left the study. Ethan was shocked to see her. ‘She couldn’t be here because of the engagement, right?‘ he thought.
Ethan’s heart skipped a beat. When Neil came out, Ethan asked hurriedly, “Grandpa, why is Gina here? Is she forcing me to marry her?”
Neil rolled his eyes. “Do you think you’re that good?” Neil could tell Gina wasn’t interested in Ethan.
Ethan was confused. Having seen Gina last night and again now, Ethan’s mood plummeted. When he saw Gina sitting next to Neil, he was stunned
Neil was slightly embarrassed. “Is it too noisy, Gina? Shall I arrange a private room for us? We can eat there.”
“No need Gina didn’t think it was necessary.
“Okay. Let’s eat” Neil gestured to the food. “See anything you like? If not, tell me. I’ll get them to make it for you.”
“I’m not picky,” Gina replied calmly.
“Let’s eat then,” Neil said.
Gina respectfully waited for Neil to start eating before her. Neil noticed how meticulous she was. The more he with Gina, the more he liked her.
Just then, Gabriel called. Neil’s expression turned.cold, He answered but waited for Gabriel to speak first.

“Dad, I had someone deliver your present, so I won’t be back, Gabriel said. If he returned, his father would nag at him about. marrying again. The two of them always argued when that happened. Gabriel didn’t want to ruin his father’s birthday party and thus, remained at the company working
“Why bother if you’re not here?” Neil was upset. He had Gabriel quite late in his life. Gabriel was now in his twenties and was the only one unmarried. His grandchildren were the same age as Gabriel. Neil was anxious to marry him off.
Gabriel was ruthless in business but cared about Neil. He didn’t want to argue when Neil was ill. He said, “Dad, you know my condition. Anyone would be worse off with me.
Gabriel suffered from a rare congenital illness and numerous internationally renowned doctors declared treatment hopeless. His muscles would atrophy and he would die before thirty.
Gabriel was now twenty–six. His body had begun deteriorating. His right pinky finger had stiffened.

However, Gabriel wasn’t giving up. He used his health as an excuse to postpone marriage. Moreover, he had someone he wanted to protect.
Gabriel’s cold eyes softened at the thought of Gina. He had been undergoing secret treatments for his illness. Other than Neil, none knew. It was essential to keep it a secret as some might take action if they replace out…
Gabriel had also been tirelessly searching for Genevieve. Unfortunately, she remained elusive. Even the high–reward. missing person task he posted on the hacker web was still up.
“Nonsense. Don’t make me yell at you. It’s not hopeless. Hurry back. I want to introduce you to someone.” Neil refrained from being too direct, especially with Gina nearby.
However, Gina focused on eating.
Gabriel frowned. Neil was matchmaking again. There would be plenty of single women from prestigious families at the party, which was why Gabriel didn’t want to attend. He didn’t have time to deal with them.
“Not interested, Gabriel refused outright.
Neil chided, “You just want to annoy me.”
A servant brought over a bottle of wine then. Neil signaled for the servant to pour him a glass. Gina spoke, “Mr. Jackson, did you forget what I said? You shouldn’t drink.”
Gabriel, who was about to hang up, froze. His pupils contracted. Was Gina at his house?

Neil couldn’t be bothered with Gabriel then. He looked aggrieved. “Didn’t you say I’m recovering well? I’d only have a sip.” Neil gestured with his fingers.
Gina said firmly, “Not even a drop.”
Neil was disappointed. He waved his hand, signaling the servant to take the wine away. The servant was surprised. He had worked there for many years and Neil liked his alcohol. However, Neil listened to Gina this time. It was impressive.
Gina added, “And don’t be angry. It’s not good for you, Mr. Jackson.”
Neil’s anger dissipated with Gina’s concern. Happy, Neil returned to his call, only to hear Gabriel say, “I’m coming back.”
