Chapter 356

“No,” Gabriel replied without hesitation.

His response made Ethan feel awkward. Ethan smiled coldly and said, “Alright, that’s fine.”

Neil said, “Ethan has his own successful career. That is something to celebrate!”

Neil glanced at Isaac, signaling him to bring a few bottles of good wine.

Isaac quickly complied. Just as Neil was about to pour himself a small glass for a sip, Gabriel interrupted and said, “Dad, have you forgotten? Gina instructed you not to drink while you’re recovering.”

Neil, craving a drink, replied, “Just a small glass would not hurt.”

Gabriel frowned and reminded him, “Dad, just because Gina isn’t here doesn’t mean you can indulge and ignore her advice.”

Neil, who was eager to have a taste, tried to ignore Gabriel’s words, but Gabriel took out his phone, ready to call Gina.

“Stop, stop, alright, I won’t drink. You all can have some,” Neil said, feeling a bit wronged. He did not want to bother Gina over such a minor issue, especially since she was handling important matters abroad. He did not want Gina, who was far away in another country, to worry about his health.

Displeased by the interaction, Harry found it absurd that Gina could still affect their family dinner even when she was not present. He thought of her as a persistent nuisance, like a lingering ghost.

He remarked, “It’s just a small drink. Is it really necessary to be so strict? Isn’t that also bad for his health if it makes my brother unhappy?”

“Between alcohol and a bad mood, Gina knows which one affects health more,” Gabriel retorted sharply, not showing mer towards Harry.

Harry’s expression darkened, and he felt a surge of anger.

“Alright, alright, let’s not argue over this. I should not be drinking now anyway. I’ll wait until I’m fully recovered. I shoul listen to Gina. Otherwise, I won’t be able to drink at Gabriel and Gina’s wedding, which would be a real regret!” Neil said he felt overjoyed at the thought of Gabriel and Gina’s wedding. As he grew older, he cherished such hopes.

‘A wedding?

‘It’s not certain that woman will even get into the Jackson family, Harry thought to himself.

Not wanting his moment of glory overshadowed, Ethan started discussing his efforts on the project with Neil, which helped the latter part of the meal pass without further disputes.

However, Gabriel seemed a bit distracted. He was wondering what Gina was doing far away in Mosnioca.

He hated every second they were apart, replaceing it excruciatingly difficult.

At Windsor Castle, Lisa reviewed the ledgers Gina had given her “The Atkinson family has a poor reputation. It would be best if such a malignant family could disappear. However, they are divided into many branches, and not all of them are evil. Some have made significant contributions to our nation’s economy.

“If the Atkinson family can reform, that would be ideal,” Lisa stated with a smile. “In the past, we had no evidence to prove the Atkinsons were involved in shady businesses. But now, with the ledgers you provided, Miss Miller, things will be much easier. The upcoming cleanup operation will be smooth, and the Atkinson family cannot refuse a search with this evidence.”

This matter would immediately boost Princess Lisa’s reputation among the public, giving her a chance to compete with her brother for the throne.

Gina also hoped this matter could be resolved quickly. Every minute of delay might mean another person being harmed by those dreadful drugs made from ashes or another naive pregnant woman drinking a concoction supposedly to ensure a male child, only to develop a tumor and have no one to turn to.

·

She and Princess Lisa had a mutually beneficial relationship.

“Gina, you are absolutely, absolutely a godsend! You appeared when I was lost and gave me new hope!” Lisa exclaimed, hugging Gina excitedly.

Gina, somewhat uncomfortable with Lisa’s enthusiasm, gently pushed her away.

Lisa apologized and said, “Sorry, I was too happy. Did I offend you? I see you as a good friend.”

“It’s okay,” Gina replied.

Gina paused and added, “Since that is the case, Lisa, let’s resolve this matter now.”

“Are you in a hurry to return to Shyran?” Lisa asked.

“Once the matter is handled and there’s nothing else, I’ll return. I’m not really in a hurry,” Gina said.

“I understand. After all, your loved one is waiting for you,” Lisa said with a smile.

With that, the two set off.

At Chatsworth Manor, Willie was watching a movie,in’the home theater with Faith and Chuck sitting beside him.

Max sat in the row behind them.

Suddenly, a servant knocked on the door and reported, “Mr. Willie, a Miss Miller is here with a friend, saying they h something important to discuss.”

Upon hearing the name Miller, Chuck knew what was happening and thought, ‘Gina Miller, that wretch, is she so eager settle scores?

‘Huh, let’s see if she has the capability to do so.

Chuck turned to Max and asked, “That Miss Miller, she is your friend, isn’t she?”

Chuck had no evidence that Max had helped Gina steal the ledgers. As such, he couldn’t cause trouble for Max directly. He felt a burning anger. If not for his father’s presence, he would have wanted to beat Max, this traitor, on the spot.

“Yes,” Max replied.

Chuck sneered. He mainly wanted to hint to his father that Gina was acquainted with Max, implying that Max was colluding with outsiders to undermine his own brother, which was utterly disgraceful.

-Willie, curious, questioned, “Why didn’t your friend come to you directly? Why does she want to see me?”

“Dad, you’ll understand once you meet her,” Max said.

Willie said nothing more and turned to Faith, saying, “I’ll come back to watch the movie with you later.”

“Alright,” Faith nodded, feeling a bit uneasy but still agreeing.

Willie stood up to leave, with Chuck following closely behind. Max also stood up, preparing to go along.

Faith pondered, ‘Miss Miller is Max’s friend, so it’s understandable he wants to see her. But why is Chuck going along?

“Why are you following me? You’re not a child. Do you need to tag along for everything the adults do?” Willie questioned.

“I don’t want to watch the movie,” Chuck offered a casual excuse

“Alright,” Willie said, not pressing further.

Walking ahead, Chuck glared at Max fiercely, mouthing. “I know it was you.”

Max remained unfazed. Indeed, he had informed Gina about Chuck’s hidden stash. He knew about the secret room in Chuck’s bedroom because Chuck had inadvertently revealed it to him.

Gina had handled the rest of the ledger theft herself. Max had wanted to help, but there was nothing he could do.

Gina also seemed to prefer not involving him too much, perhaps not wanting him to be seen as a “traitor” to the Atkinson family.
