Wing Of Change -
Chapter 41
**
“Hello lovebirds”
Both Aria and Frank had raised a questioning brow at her direction not sure if she was referring to them or not.
Sandra reached forward and pulled out a chair for herself and settled down beside them on the table with a smile sprayed across her face.
Aria knew she was the same lady they had met at the book launch and also the same one who also happened to be Frank’s ex fiancée. What she couldn’t understand was her reason for inviting herself over to their table and even worst, acting as though she was welcomed.
Frank on the other hand looked more than just bothered by Sandra’s presence at their table. He was visibly enraged even though he hasn’t said a word to her. The little twitch and unconscious tapping of his left foot against the tiles floor was like a ticking bomb waiting for explosion.
Aria had noticed the cynical look in her eyes that was directed at Frank who had a murderous look in his.
She was sure something was brewing between those two as they kept glaring at each other.
Sandra on the other hand was absolutely enjoying the attention she was getting and after what seemed like eternity, Frank decided to say something.
“What are you doing here?” Frank had sneered at Sandra who has nothing but smile on her face at this point.
“I came here to have lunch obviously. I mean, isn’t that like what people come here for?” she replied with a question of her own.
“I know what people come here to do Sandra. What I want you to tell me is why you are here seating at my table and uninvited”
“Oh that? Well, I was lonely over there on my own,so i thought why not join you two since we are practically family now” she answered with a grin and gave Aria a wink.
Aria who was feeling very confused at her comment had turned to Frank.
“Family? What is she talking about?”
Sandra only snickered in reply while
Frank only avoided the question all together. He couldn’t dare to look at the doubt building up in Aria’s eyes with each passing second that woman open her mouth to say anything without being asked to.
When no one bothered to answer her question, she took a deep breath and tried again.
“Frank? Say something!”
“Uh oh!” Sandra’s interjected mockingly.
Frank flared up at her statement before he practically growled at her and at the same time grabbing the attention of the rest of the people having their luncheon as well.
He spoke in a shushed voice after realizing his earlier outburst to be unethical in a public place such as that one.
He leaned closer to her.”You better keep your mouth shut if you have nothing better to do with it woman”.
Sandra who was obviously not afraid of his little threat had slouched back against her chair with a gasp before shaking her head dramatically at him with a hurt expression.
“Now now, that’s not how to treat the mother of your_”
“_shut your mouth this minute before I force this piece of meat down that pit you call a throat”
“Stop! Stop it right now” Aria had yelled in frustration when she couldn’t take it anymore.
She couldn’t take the hush and side talks anymore as her head was starting to spin with thought of what could actually be going on between those two.
The fact that they have history together wasn’t helping either. Her thought was starting to get out of control pretty quickly.
A satisfied grin was spread across Sandra’s face seeing just how confused and hurt Aria looked and not to mention the dark rage in Frank’s eyes but she was not done yet.
In fact she just got started as she leaned across the table to stared at Frank in the eyes.
“Don’t tell me you haven’t told her yet Frank” Her voice had a hint of mockery before she turned and shot Aria a pitiful smile.
“Tell me what exactly? And would you stop with the secrecy already? Whatever my boyfriend had to tell me is none of your goddamn business so how about you get away from us and leave us the hell alone” Aria had yelled at Sandra who only chuckled at her reaction.
“I’m sorry but whatever Frank has to say to you is also my business and about leaving you alone? I doubt that’s going to happen anytime soon darling” She paused and turned to face Frank.
“I suggests you tell your girlfriend the truth before I do it for you and oh if you are still doubting? The test result have already been confirmed so you might as well man up and tell her the damn truth already”
Making sure her last statement sank deeper, she turned to Aria with a satisfied smile before she got up and walked back to wherever she had came from.
She kept murmuring apologizes to everyone she passed by their table for the obvious scene she just caused a while ago.
Aria was completely lost as she couldn’t fathom what exactly just happened. Was she by any chance dreaming or that woman really walked over to their table and turned what was supposed to be lunch with her boyfriend to sharing secret with Aria while she walked away like nothing happened.
If she was dreaming then Frank must have had the same darn dream as well for he was still quite enraged wearing that awful scowl on his well defined jawline_it’s obvious it wasnt a dream.
He leaned closer to her.”You better keep your mouth shut if you have nothing better to do with it woman”.
Frank was definitely hiding something and that woman knew exactly what it was hence her speaking in riddles.
They both knew something that she didn’t and the sooner she found out whatever it was the better.
She reached for her handbag and hurried towards the exit with Frank trailing from behind.
Aria couldn’t leave Frank stranded at the eatery as she had drove him back to his office and left right after without a single word uttered between them.
Whatever Frank has to say to her would have to be much later because it was already past her lunch break and the last thing she needed at that point was her boss’s wrath.
Meanwhile….
Frank stood pacing the length and breadth of his office with that brown envelope in hand. It was personally addressed to him from the hospital. It contained Daniel’s paternity test results.
Frank seem hesitant to read what the result entails. His fears has already been confirmed the very moment Sandra showed up earlier stating how much of a family they were going to be soon which could only mean one thing.
The test result has been confirmed.
Daniel was indeed his son and there was no denying it any further.
But how?
Leaning back against the edge of his desk, his mind began to travel down memory lane through all the things he has buried, deep into the ashes of his past relationship with that woman.
Sandra couldn’t have just woken up one morning with the sudden idea of finally telling him the truth she had kept hidden for five years. Something was definitely wrong in the picture and he knew he had to replace out before it would be the reason his relationship with Aria is ruined.
The thought of Aria leaving him because of that very reason had his heart skipping an unhealthy beat as his hand gripped harder against the edge of his desk.
He saw how confused and broken she was earlier when he couldn’t clear the doubt in her head. Frank couldn’t explain anything to Aria and especially not in a place like that and she gave him no room to speak to her in the drive back to his office either.
Reaching for his cellphone, he dialed the unnamed number in his phone and the receiver answered on the first ring.
“We need to talk”
“I was seriously hoping you would say that”
“Good. Let get this over with”
