Chapter 640 Has A Formidable Rival

After visiting the few renowned tourist attractions in Turlen, Gwendolyn, Cedrick, and the others took a flight to Moranta.

Having traveled for several days in succession, Gwendolyn and Inez were exhausted. They fell asleep as soon as they got onto the plane.

Cedrick and Kieran were men at the end of the day, so they had much more energy. Despite working overtime at night, they were still as energetic as ever after getting some shut-eye.

Cedrick draped a thin blanket over his wife before gathering her in his arms.

Not to be outdone, Kieran, who had learned how to pamper his woman over the past two days, did the same for Inez. On top of that, he thoughtfully requested a glass of orange juice for fear that she would be thirsty upon waking up.

Cedrick noticed that small attentive act. Mirth danced in his ebony eyes.

"Not bad. You've improved a lot these two days, Kieran. You even thought of having orange juice at the ready."

However, Kieran coldly shot him a glare. "Look at Kiddo. She's resting no sooner had she boarded the plane. You should've restrained yourself for the past few nights and taken mercy on her instead of tiring her out to such an extent."

With a faint smile on his face and in his eyes, Cedrick calmly took a sip of coffee. "Right back at you, Kieran."

At once, Kieran's expression darkened. Animosity and hostility between the two men brewed in silence.

The fact that Inez had been paying much attention to Cedrick and had a high opinion of him throughout their recent vacation the past few days upset Kieran.

Thus, he desperately wanted to surpass his brother-in-law in all aspects to obtain her approval,

Although Cedrick was oblivious to the man's thoughts, he could distinctly sense his hostility in the past two days. Hence, he squared up with the man without backing down.

As they stared daggers at each other, Cedrick's nose abruptly itched. Without warning, he sneezed several times in a row.

For once, a flash of something different flittered across Kieran's frosty eyes. "It looks like you've overtaxed yourself these two days, leading to a drop in your stamina and immunity, resulting in you having caught a cold, Cedrick."

Gracefully rubbing the tip of his nose, Cedrick retorted forcefully, "Contrarily, I think someone must be criticizing me or speaking ill of me instead of an issue with my physical condition. Compared to you, Kieran I've been in the military for many years, so my stamina is much better."

Kieran narrowed his eyes into slits and fixed them onto the man, not bothering to respond anymore.

"Why are you two at odds now?" Gwendolyn asked while rubbing her eyes after having been awakened by Cedrick's sneezing.

Both men remained silent at the same time, surprisingly in sync.

At that, Gwendolyn giggled evilly. "A battle between men is pointless if it's mere talk. Let's replace a boxing ring to have a fight when we get off the plane and see who emerges victorious."

In a low voice. Kieran chided. "As a lady, it's best for you to be more gentle. Don't speak about such violent things all the time. The aim of learning jiu-jitsu is for you to have the ability to protect yourself, not for you to go around fighting."

Following her brother's lecture, Gwendolyn pursed her lips and nestled back in her husband's embrace, instantly transforming into a docile kitten.

Cedrick planted a kiss on her forehead and patted her on the back with his gigantic palm. He sounded as airy as ever. "I think your suggestion is pretty great, Darling. Anyway, I never lose in fights." Kieran's chilly eyes narrowed a fraction in displeasure.

As the leader of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cedrick was the king in the military field then. Back at the training camp, he was one of the cream of the crop born of the grueling training. While Kieran appeared like a gentlemanly professor obsessed with research, his fighting skills were actually impeccable as well.

Nonetheless, if he were to fight with Cedrick for real, he might not necessarily be the latter's match.

He still remembered the man going berserk after losing control due to the S404 RNA virus back then because Gwendolyn was absent from his side. He had to team up with Treyton before they managed to subdue Cedrick, who was behaving like a rabid dog.

Well, perhaps only the Asher back then, before he had rheumatism, could go up against Cedrick.

Since he was indeed inferior in terms of combat prowess, he went silent. He shifted Inez, who was adjacent seat, into his arms to sleep.

Needless to say, the couple across from him was also very much intimate.

Smirking, Gwendolyn refuted Cedrick's statement. "In truth, Ceddy still has a formidable rival when it comes to fighting.""

Cedrick quirked a brow. Seemingly grasping her meaning immediately, he leaned down and pecked her soft lips.

"That's true. My darling wife is my formidable rival. When I fought with you previously, I never once got the upper hand. In the end, I even ended up suffering a beating."

Stifling a giggle, Gwendolyn tapped the tip of his nose with a finger. "Bingo! I'll give you a small reward when we arrive at Moranta, Hubby."

Across from them, Kieran was forced to endure the couple's public display of affection. He could only kiss Inez on the forehead and hug her even tighter before closing his eyes and going to sleep, ignoring it all.

In Salinsburgh in Chanaea, Nico, who had a rare day off, went out and enjoyed himself with Summer.

In the afternoon, the two of them went on a pendulum ride in the amusement park.

Summer was young, so she loved such thrilling and spine-tingling rides most.

Unexpectedly, the pendulum ride was simply too electrifying that she ended up nauseous.

No sooner had she got off the pendulum ride than she hurled madly while hanging over a trash can. The world spun around her, placing her on the verge of death.

Nico stood beside her and helped to pat her on the back before handing her some water to rinse her mouth.

When Summer, who had been tortured by the pendulum ride to the point of tears, jerked her head back, she was greeted by the sight of the calm and unruffled Nico, unfazed in the least.

"How are you totally unaffected, Nico? Are you used to going on such amusement rides?"

In response, Nico shook his head. "This is my first time riding one. But these amusement rides are rather anti-human and induce some physical discomfort."

"Do you feel any discomfort anywhere, then?"

Again, Nico shook his head. "Perhaps it's because I've undergone too much training when I was young. This intensity is still acceptable to me. It's passable but not fun."

Summer could not help feeling even more impressed by her man. "I don't like it either. We won't ever ride it again in the future."

Nico ruffled her hair. "Let's go over to the small diner at the side to order some food and a glass of fruit juice, okay?"

Summer bobbed her head in agreement.

The two of them promptly changed directions to head toward the small diner. They had only taken a few steps when Nico's phone rang.

He fished his phone out of his pocket and glanced at it, only to see that it was a call from a Federal Bureau of Investigation officer.

Beside him, Summer stole a glance at his phone. In a voice laced with jealousy, she remarked, "It looks like you've got work to do at the bureau and have to go back to spend your time with those duties of yours."

Nico remained as solemn as ever. "Indeed, it's a call from my subordinate at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. But it's not a work issue. I assigned him to do something else for me."

Puzzled, Summer eyed him with her head tilted slightly.

Nico answered the call.

Summer could not hear whatever was said on the other end of the phone, merely catching the man's brief replies.

"Got it. Great job. Give me the address, and you don't need to bother about the rest anymore."

After hanging up the phone, Nico turned to her. "I've found your family. They seem to be in the dark about me having brought you to the Jenson residence, mistakenly assuming that you're in Erihal instead. I've already gotten the address. Do you want to go over before dinner to tell your parents you've found someone and are getting engaged to me?”

Summer's expression froze, and her hand clasped in his tightened suddenly. She tensed all over as though having recalled some bad memories.
