300 Days With The Alpha Beta Triplets -
MEETING HER IN DETENTION
THIRD PERSON POV:
While the students were in class, Hazel served detention by reading a book. Although it would taint her record, she saw this as an opportunity to catch up with her academics, as the midterm activities had distracted her. Ms. Polly sat in front of the class, as instructed by Evelyn.
Hazel kept flipping through her notes as she waited for a text from Riley.
Soon her phone vibrated in her seat, sending a jolt up her thighs. Skillfully, she glanced down to see it was a message from Riley, causing a smile to spread across her lips, but she quickly shifted her gaze to Ms. Polly with a straight face. When she saw Ms. Polly had dozed off with her head thrown back against the chair, Hazel shifted her attention to her phone.
"What do you mean you got detention?"
She stopped reading, holding the cover of her notebook with her left hand while she typed on her phone with her right. She gave him the news of what had gone down.
"I really don't like this. Can't you all report her or something? Remember last time."
"I got detention from Bella's mum, and no, they won't help us."
She was about to type again when Ms. Polly's phone rang, causing her to kick her feet underneath the table as she threw her head forward, forcing her eyes open. Hazel quickly buried her head in her book as Ms. Polly glanced around the class like a hawk searching for its prey. The buzzing of her phone kicked in a few seconds later, and she grabbed it at once, answering.
"Okay, I'll be right there," she said, then looked at Hazel, who kept her eyes glued to her book. "Miss Baudelaire," she called out, and Hazel quickly raised her head.
"Yes, Ms. Polly," Hazel answered softly. Polly stood up, straightening her skirt.
"I have to go take care of something, but I'll be back in a few minutes. I don't know why you're here, but I trust you're a good student, and I believe you'll behave while I'm gone."
Hazel nodded.
"Yes, Ms. Polly," she echoed in an almost robotic voice.
The lady smiled at her, then grabbed her purse and headed out of the classroom. She had received a call from her favorite shoe company, informing her that her order had arrived.
The moment she walked through the door, Hazel sighed in relief, whipping out her phone to text Riley. When she let him know she was free, he requested a video call, and Hazel was about to connect when the classroom door opened, causing her heart to flinch. To her greatest surprise, Fae and Sebastian walked in.
At that moment, she wished it was Polly who had walked in on her. Her face fell instantly.
"Hazel, who is that?" Riley asked at once. Fae walked up to her and snatched the phone from her.
The moment Fae's face popped up on Riley's screen, he let out a sigh.
"Fae," he said in a distasteful tone.
"Yes, cousin. Are you not delighted to see me?" she questioned, but he remained silent. "Well, I'd love to chat, but I have something more important to get to," she said, clicking the red button on the screen.
She handed Hazel back her phone, then took a deep breath with a smile hanging on her face. Grabbing a seat, she crossed her legs on the table, on top of Hazel's book.
"You know Ms. Polly will be back any moment now, and we'll both be in trouble," Hazel said. Fae looked at her nails, unbothered, then snapped her fingers.
"Ms. Polly went out to pick up an order that doesn't exist. We figured she must have made an order, because she always does, so we have enough time," Sebastian explained. Hazel gave him a death glare before returning her gaze to Fae.
This was her only chance to get away from Fae, but it didn't work. She truly got what she wanted.
"If I had even one percent of your guts, I'd be the richest person in the world," Hazel said, and Fae chuckled.
"I get that a lot."
"Of course," Hazel said, frowning.
"I'm here for something, and I don't intend to stay long."
Yet you're here, Hazel thought, but she forced a smile, sitting still with her hands on her lap.
"Taking the daytime necklace might not have worked, and I don't know-"
"Bella's mum has witches at her beck and call, so they must have fortified her or made another piece of jewelry," Hazel interrupted to prevent Fae from turning into a detective and possibly replaceing out the truth.
"Whatever it was, I don't really care," Fae chipped in. "Now, this is my final foolproof plan. I need you to take away her blood stash, and don't ask me how you'll do that. I know you both had a falling out, but you have to replace a way," she said. Hazel frowned, trying to seem concerned.
"I figured that since the first time I found out about her was from her sneaking out of school, maybe I should do the same for others," Fae said, causing Hazel's heart to skip a beat.
"What do you mean by that?"
"You don't have to know everything, Hazel, and-"
"That's why your plan keeps failing every single time, Fae, and I'm kind of tired of this. I'm supposed to serve you, but I'm truly tired. Can we just get over this? Bella could be expelled if we all work together."
When she said this, Sebastian nodded in agreement.
"Hazel is right. You give us half-baked information, and nothing ever works. I'm not under any spell, but I'm tired. To be honest, I care about Bella and all, but thanks to this back-and-forth, I've lost all interest in her. I don't even want her back; I just want to get myself out of this mess. So, whatever it takes, please."
Both Fae and Hazel were silent as he spoke. It was the most reasonable thing he had said since he lost his clout as one of the hottest guys in school-or maybe they had all snapped out of his charm real quick.
"Fine!" Fae groaned, then took a deep breath before continuing. "When Hazel steals her bags of blood, we'll monitor her and call the school council on her. That way, we're not trying to harm her but expose her. The council will catch her themselves. She'll be exposed or killed," Fae said...
