THIRD PERSON POV:

"What?" they all echoed in shock at what Hazel had revealed.

"Yes, they are vampires, and I can..." Before Hazel could finish her sentence, both women vanished with the speed of light, causing them all to glance at each other.

"That makes total sense, because when I saw them earlier in the woods, I could have sworn I smelled a vampire, but I guess the whole event of the day got me carried away," Bella said, and the triplets gathered around her to see if she was okay.

"If that isn't the real Scarlet, then what happened to the actual witch?" Alpha Herald asked, and everyone diverted their gaze to Hazel, who shrugged.

"Honestly, I do not know, but I am about to replace out," she said to them, then she walked towards the cauldron, turning off the light underneath to stop the mixture from sizzling. "Help me, please," she said to them, and the triplets helped her lift the cauldron off the stove, placing it on the ground.

"I can replace Scarlet, but I need to grab something from her cave," Hazel said, and they all looked around the room. Then she spotted a cloak hanging in a corner.

She walked over to it and placed her hand on it. With her eyes shut, she tried to locate Scarlet. The vision came, and she saw her locked up in a dark room, but it was impossible to create a trail to her. Each time Hazel tried, it would cut off halfway. A gasp escaped her lips as she withdrew her hand from the cloak.

"Did you replace her?" Bella asked, and Hazel sighed, looking at them.

"I found her in a dark place, but I couldn't locate it. We need to leave so that I can use my spell book," she explained. "Please take the cauldron out of the room; we need to do away with whatever is inside it." The boys got to work as she said this.

Bella ignored her father and made her way out of the cave while Hazel grabbed Scarlet's cloak. The boys followed behind with the cauldron. They noticed the incense in front of the cave had cleared, so they passed freely. When they got outside, they tipped the cauldron, allowing the gooey substance to pour out on the ground, before heading to the alpha's car.

Bella got into the back with Hazel, Finn, and Kai, while Ryder got up front with the alpha. The drive back home was silent and uncomfortable as they had to squeeze into the car. As soon as the car came to a halt, Bella opened the door first and walked out.

"Bella," her dad called, going after her, but she wouldn't stop.

She made her way into the house, but he caught her hand before she could reach the stairs.

"Dad, stop! Okay!" she yanked her hand away. "You are never going to accept me as I am, and it's crazy. This is the reason you wanted me back here," she said, and Herald shook his head.

"No, Bella. I wanted my daughter back because I missed her, not just because I wanted to kill a part of her," he said, and she scoffed. "When they came to me, they told me you had caused a lot of chaos in the Frost Pack, and they needed to put..."

"And you believed them. Because I will always be the monster you think I am. The monster that killed Bonnie," she said, with tears shimmering in her eyes. "You are never going to love me fully until I become a full werewolf and the perfect daughter you ordered."

"You know that is a lie, Bella. I love you, and..."

"Save it, Dad! Mum said I could call when I didn't feel like staying anymore, and I am going to call her right now," she said, rushing up the stairs as Herald stood there without words.

Once more, he felt like a failure who couldn't protect his daughter. He had given her away just like that, and she didn't deserve it. The triplets and Hazel walked into the living room. They stood still, wondering if walking past him would be disrespectful. His perspective was well understood, but Bella's was reasonable too. She had been through a lot, and half of the trauma she held was because he didn't believe her. Plus, she was their best friend, and the alphas ways weren't very clear to them.

Alpha Herald turned to face them with a gloomy expression.

"I have failed as a father," he said, and they stared at him without words.

Ryder, who had shared a hate-to-love bond with him, decided to step up.

"That is not entirely true, Alpha. No one is perfectly in the right in every conflict, and it is difficult fathering a teenager. We believe you are doing your best, and Bella just needs space."

Herald held his gaze on Ryder, expecting to feel anger, but to his surprise, Ryder's words made sense to him. He let out a sigh, then made his way up the stairs while the group of four stood still until he was gone. They all let out the air they hadn't realized they were holding.

"You could kill us with your words," Kai said to him, then they made their way upstairs to Bella's room.

"Okay, Mum, I'll see you tomorrow then." They walked in as Bella ended the call with Evelyn.

Bella, who was facing the window, turned to see her friends standing by the door. Then she sighed.

"I just got off the phone with my mum, and she is booking our flight tonight. I do not need my father's jet to get around because he wouldn't get it ready even if I asked," she said, then threw herself on the bed.

They all walked to her bed, spreading themselves around her with their hands on her body.

"He thinks I am overreacting, but I am not. Nothing is the same anymore, and the love I thought he had for me-I can barely see it. I want to leave this pack; it makes..." she paused, bursting into tears, but they all caressed a part of her skin.

"We totally get you, Bella," Hazel said, caressing her right hand.

"Yeah. It sucks when the person you hold in high esteem isn't what they used to be anymore, and we wish there was something we could do," Finn added.

Bella sighed deeply, then shut her eyes, trying to paint memories of the past, when her father was her safe space, even that seemed haunted by the present.

"Have you talked to him about it?" Ryder asked, and she opened her eyes, staring at the ceiling.

She was silent for a split second before muttering, "no."

but

"And I don't think I ever will. I mean, everything has been going wrong each time I discover something, and I'm like,

do I have to keep being unfortunate every single time? It's exhausting!"

"It's okay." Ryder ran his hands into her hair, massaging her scalp gently to ease the stress she embodied.

Bella shut her eyes again, letting out another sigh.

**

The next day, when Bella opened her eyes, she saw that her bed was bare. They had left during the night when she fell asleep. A smile formed on her face as she thought of the fact that she had met the best people in the world. At least that was one thing her father's carelessness had brought her, she thought.

She got up at once, then reached for her phone, which was on the bed.

"I have booked the flight, and you can check the tickets here," she read the text from her mum, then she shut her phone off, pushing her feet off the bed.

She walked to her closet, pulling out her bag. Then she started to pack her clothes. She felt sad, knowing she had to leave her father, but she had already weighed the pros and cons, plus she didn't feel safe in the pack.

A knock came at her door, and her father opened it.

"Your mother called, and she told me about the flight she has booked for the afternoon," he began, then walked into the room. "I am truly sorry for everything, princess, and I hope you forgive me someday. It doesn't have to be today," he said, but she couldn't say anything to him.

He walked away at once, and she threw herself on the bed, trying hard not to cry. Another knock came at her door, and she groaned as she sensed her mates. They opened it, and she looked up to see the twins. When they saw tears shimmering in her eyes, they glanced at each other, contemplating whether to tell her the truth.

"What?" she asked, getting to her feet.

"Hazel is missing, and we found this note," Finn said, then she grabbed the note from him.

"I did a spell to communicate with Scarlet. I left to replace her, but she warned me about an impending danger, which is coming in a few hours."

Before she could process Hazel's words, Ryder rushed into the room, panting.

"There is a problem."
