Bella:

Winter break had finally arrived, and although many unpleasant emotions hung in the air, I tried my best to focus on the good things. Hazel and her aunt were leaving for an island in the Western region of Moonfire, the Rune pack's territory. This trip stirred up old memories for me. Plus, my father had called a while ago to ask if I wanted to spend the holidays with him, and I still hadn't given him a reply. I didn't blame him for letting me go, but his desire to have me back, knowing I would always feel like an outcast, made me unsure about going.

"So, have you decided how you would like to spend the holiday?" Hazel asked, cutting through my thoughts as I placed her luggage in the trunk of her aunt's car. "We only have about four weeks left, and we've wasted the last three weeks crying over my terrible relationship," she said, and I cleared my throat.

I had cried with her, but not only because of her own problems, but also mine.

I wanted to see my dad, but I couldn't face him. I knew he was reaching out of pity, but things would never be the

same.

"I... I don't know. The triplets and I will probably figure something out for the remaining four weeks. I hope you enjoy your vacation," I said, placing my hand on her shoulder.

The triplets walked out from the small bungalow with Hazel's aunt, May, carrying the last of the bags. I shifted a bit with Hazel as they filled the trunk before shutting it.

"Thanks, boys," Aunt May, a tall, slender woman with charming brown eyes, said, and the boys smiled at her.

Hazel had told me she was over fifty, but she had an eternal youth glow and looked exactly like her late sister, Hazel's mum, Nicole.

"Thank

you too, Bella. I have never seen Hazel happier since my sister and her husband died." she began.

"I counted the days she cried during the break, and she had more happy days than sad ones. I hope for the best on this vacation," May said, covering my hand in hers as she spoke.

"I'm glad about that too," I replied, and then she let go of my hands, turning to Hazel.

"I'll be waiting in the car."

Hazel pulled me into a hug that almost ripped my heart from my chest. She reminded me of my best friend, Bonnie, who would have moved the world for me.

"See you in four weeks, and I promise not to be all sobby next time we meet. The second term will be great for us, I know that," she said, and I forced a smile as she let go. "Goodbye, boys," she said flatly to the triplets before getting into the car. Her aunt drove away while the triplets pulled me into a hug.

"We should get going," I said, walking away to hide my tears that threatened to fall.

"You're doing that thing with your eyes," Ryder said as I reached the car, staring at my reflection in the tinted glass.

I took a deep breath, wiping away the tiny tears hanging from the corners of my eyes.

"We should get going or we'll miss our parents leaving too," I said to Ryder, and we all got into the car, driving over to the alpha's mansion.

As soon as the enormous gates opened, we saw a fleet of cars already lined up with drivers on standby. Winter was really the break everyone looked forward to because it was a time to reconnect with family, but this year it was different for me.

When the car came to a halt, I got out, planting my feet in the snow and making my way up to the front of the house. Mother beat me to the door before I could, and it opened to her and Alpha Fred's lips locked, causing me to look away. They cleared their throats.

"Bella," she called out, surprise laced in her tone.

Sometimes I wondered if Alpha Fred was her soulmate because she abandoned her actual fated mate for him. It also made me wonder if I would lose my mates along the line in life.

"Have you made up your mind about your

father's proposal?" she asked, and I held her gaze for a split second.

"I will spend the holidays with the boys, and I will see where that takes me," I said, then made my way into the house. "Fred and I are leaving right now. Be sure to call your father to let him know!" she raised her voice as I walked farther into the living room.

I rushed to the kitchen, grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge, and chugged it down. Then I gripped the kitchen counter hard. This was my first winter break without my father, and it hurt more than I could accept.

"Bella," Finn called out. I looked up to see him by the door with the triplets, and I tried to keep a straight face. "We just wanted to let you know we'll be here for you, even if you don't want to speak to us about your problems, and we love you."

"I'm fine, I'm fine." I feigned a laugh.

"Bella, we are serious," Kai chipped in, and I shrugged, walking towards the door.

They made way for me to walk into the living space, then I walked to the center table, grabbing the remote.

"There is nothing wrong with me, boys, see?" I said, tossing myself on the couch and laughing at the sitcom on TV. "Let's watch a movie and eat some popcorn. It'll be fun, and we have the house to ourselves, you know," I shrugged, and they stood still with straight faces.

"What?" I asked, and Ryder let out a sigh.

"We are not spending the winter break together," he replied, causing my face to fall.

They were all going to leave me? Well, that was fine. I had suffered in silence before, banished by my father and survived.

"Very well then, I will enjoy the break alone with the servants. You guys can spend your break happy," I shrugged, and he chuckled at my tone.

"Bella, we didn't mean it like that." Kai said, and I folded my arms, turning my

face away.

"The three of us are spending the break differently, like we always do. Kai and I have barely spent breaks together because each year we take turns going to our grandma's. This year is Kai's turn, and I have to be with my parents on this vacation in the Thorne pack," Finn said, and I raised a brow with my face still wrinkled.

"I have a trip to catch to an island too," Ryder chipped in, and I held my gaze at them. "What we are saying is that we would like to spend a week each with you, and you get to pick who you leave with first."

When he said this, I released my arms, my face brightening up a bit. Who did you think I chose first?
