300 Days With The Alpha Beta Triplets -
I MESSED UP
Bella:
The thirty-first flew by in the blink of an eye with only a few hours left until new year. Despite the lingering sadness from my broken family, Finn had been my rock, helping me replace strength. Being with him brought a sense of relaxation I hadn't felt in a long time. I had never enjoyed planning a party, but today, because of him, I did.
"The party is about to start, and people are already on their way." Finn's words jolted me from my thoughts as I stared at my reflection in the mirror.
He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me close until my back was against his chest.
"I will always be with you, and I want you to remember that. I hope this party will take away your worries," he whispered, pressing his lips to my cheek.
I forced a smile, trying to believe his words.
Finn and I had showered together, and I dressed in a mini jean skirt, a crop top, and sneakers. Finn wore a baseball tee, baggy cargo pants, and sneakers.
"You look great," I said as I applied my lipstick in front of the mirror.
"You too," he replied, wrapping his arms around my waist.
Turning to face him, I threw my arms around his neck. "Although I'd like to be the only one to see you like this, there are already three of us," he teased, running his hands up my thigh and grabbing my butt cheek, squeezing it tight. "Too bad they can't do this."
I rolled my eyes, and he chuckled. His phone rang, pulling him away from me.
"Okay," he said to the caller before making his way to the door. "People are here, and I'll be back to take you downstairs," he said, and I nodded as he left in a hurry.
I finished my makeup, and my phone beeped with a message from Hazel.
"How has it been with the boys? I want to let you know I am doing great, and I met this handsome brunette boy at dinner last night with my aunt. He has rare blue eyes, and I haven't stopped praying to the goddess to send him my way again."
"It's been quite an experience. I've been with Kai, and I'm currently with Finn. I'll be staying with Ryder tomorrow, so I'm having fun. Glad you're moving on. Fill me in with the details later. I love you," I replied.
As soon as I sent the text, the door swung open, and Finn walked in with a huge grin.
"The guests have arrived," he said. I stood up, slipping my hand into his. He led me out of the room and down the hallway, where loud music blared from the speakers.
As we neared the stairs, I could hear people chattering with the smell of weed and alcohol hanging in the air. These people were quick, and it gave me an odd feeling. When we reached the foot of the stairs, I looked around the room but didn't recognize anyone-except for one face. It was the girl from the store.
"You invited her?" I asked, raising an eyebrow and slipping my hand away from his.
"It's a random invite. I don't even know half of these people, and-"
"She has a crush on you," I shot back before he could finish.
It might have sounded paranoid, but I noticed her stealing glances at him, and it made me furious. I could bet anything she would make a move the moment I stepped away.
"I love you, Bella. She's just a random invitee, trust me," he said. I scoffed, trying to walk away, but he grabbed my hand.
"I don't trust the people here, and I barely know them, so I'm not letting you walk off alone," he said. I yanked my hand away.
"But you can invite a lady who has a crush on you? Do you even know how old she is? You are seventeen, and she could be-"
"Twenty-two, and she's a college student."
"Thanks for filling me with the info, smart guy." I rolled my eyes as sarcasm filled in my voice. "Now leave me alone!" I said, my voice rising as I stormed to the alcohol table.
I wasn't a fan of alcohol, but I needed something to wash away the episode with Finn. There was no telling if I was worked up from his actions or from the recent events in my life.
The entire evening, I drank away my sorrows with my eyes on Finn.
"Hey," someone said, drawing my attention away from him.
I looked to see a girl with drowsy eyes standing in front of me.
"I was wondering if you could point me to the snacks table," she chuckled, causing me to squeeze my cheek. My eyes darted across the room, and I couldn't replace Finn anymore.
My heart skipped a beat, but it worsened when the girl poked me.
"It's right over there, and I need to go," I said, pointing to the snacks table. She left, and I made my way through the crowd, noticing the absence of the store girl.
Rage engulfed my heart as I followed Finn's scent upstairs. It grew stronger as I neared his bedroom door, hoping he was alone and she had left. But as I approached, I heard their voices.
"She is so lucky. I wish I could keep you forever. This has been great," she said before he opened the door, walking out with her, both laughing. Their laughter stopped abruptly when they saw me.
"Bella," he called out with a smile, while mine remained straight.
I turned and ran downstairs.
"Bella, please!" he yelled, but I didn't stop.
At the bottom of the stairs, I glanced back, rushing into the crowd. I grabbed random guys, pecking them, slamming down random things from the table.
Finn stood still, watching the guys I grazed lips with. My heart raced as I imagined a full-blown fight happening.
Then I saw his eyes glow, his fangs visible, and his hair sprouting up.
"Everyone out!" he growled, transforming into a wolf. People sprinted out as he made his way to the door.
He glanced at me briefly before leaving. I stood there, shaken, considering following him. But I remained, tears in my
eyes. When I couldn't take it anymore, I headed upstairs to the room. Swinging the door open, I saw the bag from the store on the bed, causing my heart to drop.
"Happy New Year, Bella," I read the note with trembling hands, which soon got stained with tears.
I had messed up.
