Lukyan felt the breeze hit his backside in the position he was in. Aralia ran quickly, hardly fazed by the extra weight, not that the omega weighed much either. He didn’t know where he was taking him, but just in case, he remembered everything he had learned as a puppy and with a nimble movement, which Aralia didn’t expect, he managed to break free from her grip and jump.

He fell to his knees on the ground, lessening the impact. The other she-wolf stopped abruptly and looked at him with an unusual gleam in her eye.

-Oh, you’re better than I thought.

Lukyan straightened up with his guard up and cautiously.

-What do you wish with me? -He was serious even though he felt no murderous aura.

-Well… didn’t I tell you before that I wanted to test your strength against mine? It’s time -and he lunged at Lukyan.

Dante ran after her husband. His mother had an innate knack for unraveling his scent and eliminating his scent and whatever was nearby, so it was almost completely impossible for her to replace them by following his scent. Aralia could have taken her mate anywhere, and knowing her crazy head, there was no telling what she would do to him.

He was about to take another step when a hand stopped him. And turning, he was astonished to replace his father.

-You’re going around in a circle,” he smiled amused, “Follow me, the show’s already started.

Dante looked at him puzzled.

-What show? God, what the hell is my mother doing to my husband,” he was having a nervous breakdown. Aralia hadn’t been Commander of her pack for nothing.

Kaiser scratched his cheek.

-More like,” he laughed uncomfortably, “What is your husband doing to your mother.

Now Dante understood even less.

-Take me to where they are.

Kaiser nodded and they both ran to where the bustle was enormous. Dante didn’t expect to replace all of his sons and part of the pack cheering for two figures fighting in the middle of the wolf circle. Dante made his way over easily, replaceing his sons in the front row, next to his brother and the beta, cheering.

As he looked around he realised the reason for the hubbub.

Perhaps Aralia and Lukyan were fighting. His mouth opened and he went to intervene when he was stopped by each arm, Falco on one side and Dmitri on the other.

-You don’t intervene, brother, this is hot,” Dmitri had an unnatural smile on his face.

-Besides, the queen seems to be having a lot of fun,” Falco followed him.

-And we all want to know who is really more powerful, although… no one knows, one is strong, but with brute strength and the other has her wiles. This is really fun.

Dante looked around dumbfounded, from his closest wolves to his children, where even Aidan was cheering in Fallen’s arms. This was total madness. He finally turned his gaze to the front, his heart pounding. He was really worried about Lukyan. He knew how strong his wolf was and what he was capable of, but he also knew what his mother was like, and inside his chest he had the pressure of something happening to his wolf if he didn’t stop them.

But it only took him a minute to realise that his worries were entirely in vain. Lukyan didn’t seem, by any stretch of the imagination, to be having trouble containing his mother.

And indeed. Lukyan’s eyes were completely golden, with no irises within them. His hair waved slightly and thanks to that he slowed down, with his power, the movements of the huge she-wolf in front of him. He recognised that Aralia was a tough, fast, strong, agile and voracious opponent, but he had already faced wolves with these same characteristics.

So, thanks to Aralia’s slower pace, he was able to dodge her so easily. Even so, it was a miracle that she moved at all. Normally, everyone succumbed when she used her power like that. And so it went on for at least another 10 minutes. Practically evenly matched, though the former commander had almost caught a Lukyan’s arm or two.

Both ended up panting, exhausted, one from the effort of using her powers and the other from not achieving her goal. Aralia grunted and transformed, elegantly slicking back her hair despite her body showing signs of fatigue.

-You’re a tough nut to crack,” she raised an eyebrow.

-Thank you,” Lukyan straightened his sword, “It runs in the family.

Aralia couldn’t help herself any longer and let out a huge laugh that silenced those around them.

-Hey, my son, that’s quite a wolf you’ve got there. I’m sure he kicks your a*s every time you don’t listen to him.

Dante scrunched the bridge of his nose.

-Mother… the pack is present, watch your comments,” God, she was giving him away.

She grimaced.

-As if that’s a lie,” Mitya said next to her.

And they all scoffed. Dante grunted in annoyance and turned away, walking into the mansion. Everyone fell silent and swallowed dryly, noticing their alpha in such a state and knowing that they could be in danger. But the atmosphere turned so cold the moment the focus shifted to Lukyan, when he spoke again.

-Aralia,” his tone was gruff and icy.

The laughing she-wolf stopped laughing and focused on the younger one.

-Oh, it upset you that I said that to my son,” she tilted her head.

-Dante is not a pup, he is the alpha of this pack, the father of my children and the strongest wolf in this territory. He deserves respect, even if he is your son. Even more so if he is in front of the pack members.

Everyone was silent, no one had ever spoken to Aralia like that before, after all she was their former queen and before that the Commander of the pack, it took courage to at least tell her ji. But the she-wolf’s reaction was different from what everyone thought.

-I like you,” Aralia blurted out startling everyone who thought she was going to start a new argument, Lukyan didn’t flinch, “When you started fighting with me I knew you were strong, I saw you in the battle against the iron pack, so I knew what to expect. But this is what I really wanted to see, you defending Dante with all your being, no matter what you’re up against.

Lukyan lifted his chin.

-I’m his partner, of course I’d defend him. Even if I have to lay down my life for him I would, gladly. He’s the alpha at my side, the wolf I love, and that’s what mates do,” his words made the admiration they all had for him grow. Lukyan was, quite simply, a lot of Lukyan.

-Honey, you can’t fight him, don’t insist anymore,” Kaiser reached over and pulled his shirt over his shoulders, “He’s the perfect wolf for our son, simple as that.

Aralia looked Lukyan up and down.

-You have my approval,” she smiled at him, “Take care of that protesting pup while we’re gone.

Lukyan nodded, smiling slightly.

-I always do.

And pleased, Aralia turned to her son Dmitri, who put on a serious face.

-Ah, no, you keep me out of your business. Your problem was with Dante, you leave me out of it,” the Commander stepped back uncomfortably. A rather odd scene for someone who usually kept pretty good control.

-Oh, don’t run away puppy, I’ve already solved the life of one, now I’d like to know who you like.

But before he could answer Dmitri had turned and ran away.

-Coward,” Aralia grimaced in mock disgust.

And Lukyan looked at her with tenderness in his eyes. He understood her. Aralia could tell she wanted more affection from her children and refused to let them run off on their own paws, even though they were adults. She looked at her puppies and wondered if he would be the same when they were older.

Well, that was a long time away. In the meantime, he would simply enjoy their company and their hugs, like now when they were congratulating him.

-They’re gone,” Dante exhaled exhaustedly, from the window.

His husband’s arms wrapped around him from behind.

-You say that, but then you’re asking about them or when they’re coming to see you.

Dante clicked his tongue and turned to embrace Lukyan and k**s his cheek lovingly.

-Remind me from now on not to do that, instead, I’ll just focus on you,” he said softly and lovingly, “Besides, it was nice to hear you say all that against my mother, I didn’t know it meant so much to you. I feel really happy about that.

Lukyan stared at him and the wolf could see a hint of blush on his cheeks.

-It’s the truth,” was all he said.

-I know,” and Dante kissed him, pulling him by the thighs so that his legs wrapped around his waist, “Now help me relax in the bathroom, I’m a little tense and I have the whole night off,” his eyes sparkled mischievously.

And Lukyan could only k**s him and give herself completely to him.
