Lukyan looked, unable to focus from Lucian to the wolf and back again, with an incredulous face.

-Are you playing games with me,” the wolf raised an eyebrow at the high volume of his voice, “I was told he was missing.

Lucian snorted and lifted his shoulders in disinterest.

-How do you think my reputation would look if the news that my brother went mad got out? -he replied wryly, appealing to the omega’s intelligence.

-You’re not being honest,” Lukyan sensed that behind those words lay something else. Behind the armour he had built, this wolf harboured a truth he did not want to reveal. Still, he didn’t think he could help him at this point of madness.

Wolves when they reached madness had only one option, to be annihilated by someone stronger, it was almost always the alpha who was given this task. The only ones who could reverse the insanity or help others were the omegas, one as strong as he was.

The wolf growled again and began to advance towards them.

-I leave it in your hands,” he squeezed his shoulder and said in his ear, “I expect good results,” he whispered confidently.

Lukyan swallowed dryly and turned his face towards the animal. He knew he had gone pale. One false step and he could die, a wolf’s restraint was not present with madness; he would close his mouth and tear everything in front of him apart. He had experienced it firsthand.

He advanced cautiously towards the wolf and concentrated, letting out a faint scent, directing it at the animal, but it did not stop. Hesitantly and alertly he knelt down and focused his attention more on the beast. He began to speak soothing words. He felt it slow down and stagger. It seemed to have an effect. Even if he had been able to bring the males of his pack back, they hadn’t been in the madness that long, quite unlike this Ellar.

-Come,” she called to him, needing to use the contact to get into his consciousness.

The deteriorated wolf walked a few steps and suddenly raised his head. Lukyan didn’t have time to react. The animal had moved too fast and was now wrapping its teeth around the omega’s forearm.

Lukyan let out a g***n of pain as he felt the flesh break down to the bone and as the aggressor jerked, it tore the skin further. In the midst of the damage he raised his leg and managed to strike the animal’s abdomen and throw it into a corner. His attempt to calm it down had not worked.

-Hell,” he heard Lucian run up to him and stand in front of it.

The door burst open and an overly tall wolf with blond, military cut hair appeared, scowling.

-Kier, get him out of here,” his alpha shouted as he growled at the animal who was back on its feet ready to attack, though its movements had slowed.

For a moment Lukyan thought he saw a change in the gleam that came from its eyes, before it was carried as if it weighed nothing and dragged away. The Kier took him to the room where he had first awoken and placing him on the bed, stood over him and did nothing else. The omega pressed his lips together, holding back a cry of pain as he moved his torn arm and in his current state it would take him some time to recover. He turned his face sideways looking for something to stem the bleeding, without much success, he didn’t know anything about the place and the further away the objects were, the fuzzier they became.

-Can you hand me some cloth,” he asked politely, “I have to stop the bleeding.

-Alpha Lucian only ordered me to get you out of there,” he replied grimly.

Really! I couldn’t believe it! Another guy like Falco. One was more than enough. It didn’t matter. He’d replace him himself. He dragged his hand across the sheet covering the bed until he found a folded one in the corner, picked it up and realized it was heavy.

-Could you at least help me cut a piece of this? If I go on like this I’ll die and I don’t think your alpha would like that,” if he had to play dirty, he would play dirty.

The wolf lowered his gaze and scrunched up his eyebrows, roughly picking up the cloth and then placing a sizable piece in his hand. Lukyan awkwardly wrapped it around his arm and squeezed, letting out a g***n of pain and staggering upright, still sitting, having to support himself. The whole time the wolf was just staring at him – unbelievable!

-Lukyan was starting to get annoyed, you couldn’t be so insensitive to have someone hurt in front of you and barely help them.

-Kier, come out,” the door opened and Lucian appeared with his shirt off and his trousers on wrong, it looked like he had half dressed on the way.

The wolf nodded and left the room as quickly as he received the order.

-He’s my beta, he doesn’t talk much to strangers,” he tried to justify it.

-Yeah, I noticed that,” Lukyan said wryly, then clicked his tongue as his arm throbbed again, “Damn it, the wounds haunt me,” he was sick of being in pain all the time.

Lucian walked over to him and grabbed his elbow raising his limb wrapped in the stained cloth. Without listening to the wolf’s protests he pulled it away and stared at the bitten and bleeding skin.

-Let me go Lucian, I don’t feel well,” the lack of b***d was already getting to him.

The wolf ignored him and with his free hand pushed him until he fell onto the bed with barely any strength.

-What are you doing?” the structured and defined body leaned over him.

Lucian tore at the cloth where the wound was with his teeth.

-Shut up, I will give you a service that is a privilege, but if you move it will hurt more,” he spoke with a rare mixture of authority and self-pride.

-What do you mean,” she tensed, remembering what the males did when there was a defenceless wolf and they wore little clothing.

But he couldn’t continue as he felt Lucian’s tongue on his bruised skin and heard himself cry out, both in surprise and pain. The wolf climbed on top of him without reloading his weight and continued the tour of each wound. Lukyan tried to hold still, but the lashings of discomfort multiplied with each movement of the alpha.

-Lukyan tried to call for him to stop, yet he paid no heed.

As omegas themselves had their surprises, he too harboured more than one secret, one of them being the ability to heal wounds quickly from his saliva. Although this was always a tortuous process for the patient and one that could not be interrupted if he wanted it to heal completely. Her chest tightened as she heard him sobbing. She knew it must be hurting like hell but she hoped he could endure it, she couldn’t leave him like this, especially now, she needed him.

When the seventh minute was up Lukyan collapsed on the bed, breath barely escaping his lungs and his face was wet with tears that had long since stopped flowing. Lucian sat up and watched him for a few minutes, running his hand across his forehead, brushing away the hair that had stuck to it. He was satisfied with his work. The new skin was around his arm and in a few hours the scars would be gone.

He sat down beside her and patted her thigh.

-I’ll let you rest for today, tomorrow we’ll see my brother again,” he rose, but Lukyan’s voice stopped him.

-Even if it was against the law, you are not innocent either,” he condemned, remembering the verbal attacks and the sentence he passed against him.

-I don’t know if it’s a good thing you’re so smart Lukyan,” he snorted walking towards the door, “I’m an important member of the Council, nothing can tarnish my image, my brother went into madness when your husband betrayed him and tried to kill him. I could only lock him up and hide him,” he grabbed the edge of the door before closing it, “Can you imagine what it feels like to have to murder your own flesh and b***d,” the question hung in the air.
