5 Puppies For The Alpha -
Chapter 86
-AHHHHHHHHHHHHH- a scream echoed throughout the mansion making the hair of all the wolves inside stand on end.
Lukyan had tried his best to hold the screams in his mouth but this last one was impossible making him lose all his strength and fall on the bed with his body bathed in sweat. Panting heavily as a cry reached his ears. Bastian ran over and wiped a dry cloth across his forehead and neck in an attempt to cool him down.
The omega had had five deliveries before and one miscarriage but none as difficult as this one. The pregnancy hadn’t been bad. The months had passed quietly as she watched her belly grow, heard her husband fight because he wanted to do things and he wouldn’t let him and her children fought with their father to make a schedule to share with their mother, claiming he was hogging it all to himself, which wasn’t true.
The mansion had become a literal battlefield and there were times when he would sneak into Bastian’s or Dmitri’s room to get some quiet time, hiding from her husband and children. The beta and the Commander would take pity on the omega and leave him there without caring if they had to sleep elsewhere, or lie to their alpha. They were suffocating him and Lukyan needed space.
Lucian had threatened to take him away if they kept bothering him, but that had only fanned the flames, so the cure had been worse than the disease. Now all those wolves waited impatiently on the other side of the door while he had just given birth.
Caesar walked over and sat on the edge of the bed with a small creature in his arms covered by clean sheets and placed it next to Lukyan for him to see. The omega was extremely weak so he could only turn his face with a slight smile and reach out his hand to touch the little face. The puppy had big silver eyes that were wide open and he grabbed his mother’s finger tightly, bringing it to his mouth and smiling as he kicked his paws.
-It’s beautiful,” Bastian had tears in his eyes.
-Yes, he is beautiful.” Lukyan was in the same state. His son was strong, healthy, beautiful.
He had felt that when he had left all the power he had gained from the b***d of the alphas had gone with him, leaving him limp and weak. He would get better, but he worried that his son would not be able to cope with that power.
But for the moment all seemed calm. Edgar checked Lukyan’s pulse and part of his body.
-My queen, he needs rest, he must be very exhausted, he was almost all day to give birth,” the wolf frowned, “Don’t worry, your son is in good hands and when he opens his eyes he will be by your side,” he comforted him knowing the omega’s hidden fears.
The words had an immediate effect and although inside he still refused to sleep his eyes closed and he drifted into total unconsciousness. Edgar sighed and asked Bastian and the others to help clean him up and change the sheets for when he awoke. He took the puppy in his arms and walked to the door. There were murmurs outside so he knew there would be a tremendous ruckus but the boy’s smiling face for some reason took away his insecurities.
He opened the door and sure enough the whole family, including the beta of the pack and the red-haired alpha, were spread out waiting for the final news. Seeing him appear with a bundle in his arms they approached. Dante was the first to stand in front of him followed by the four cubs, Dmitri, Falco, Aralia with Kaiser and lastly Lucian who stood watching from afar.
He was afraid to approach. He still remembered the feeling he had had with the cub and how every night his words echoed in his mind, waking up in a sweat in the middle of the night. Still, he couldn’t reciprocate those feelings. He had morals. He would not take the son just because he had not succeeded with Lukyan. He could be told many things but he respected that pattern even if the wolves, with all their laws, would let certain things pass.
Dante was speechless at the beauty he carried in his arms. It was a miniature Lukyan, pink lips, defiant little nose, but there was no doubt that her orbs were his. He lowered his arms a little so that the pups Sacha and Axel could see him up close, while behind them Fallen smiled a touched smile and Matthias hesitated as to whether it was right to touch her. Only after Dante insisted did he rub the fat cheek and a tear ran down his own. Fallen saw this and shook his brother’s head and pulled away before he could protest. It had been difficult but they were both working on their relationship.
Dmitri patted his brother’s back happy to have a nephew while Aralia took the boy and scolded Kaiser for wanting to play with him, the wolf was so rough. Finally the puppy ended up in Lucian’s arms once Aralia scolded Dante that he was the one to thank for the miracle as Lucian had helped Lukyan a lot.
The wolf first hesitated but ended up with the baby next to him. As soon as he made contact his presence shifted inside him like that time and he had to put up a barrier using all his strength. He was relentless even if he had just been born.
-You can’t do that,” he whispered, “When you’re older we’ll talk.
For the moment he could do nothing. The little wolf was too small and wouldn’t understand, but when he was old enough he would reject him properly so that he could look for someone who really deserved him. He was not that wolf, he did not want him to see himself as his mother’s replacement. Immediately the presence withdrew from his body and Aidan began to cry loudly and Dante had to take him in his arms but couldn’t get him to stop crying.
-Alpha, inside, take him to his mother,” Edgar ordered.
No one understood what had happened, but as soon as he was near a sleeping Lukyan the baby let out two soft sobs and calmed down, clutching one of his mother’s now cropped locks with his fingers and staying still until he fell asleep. Dante ran his fingertips over his husband’s tired face and finished settling the puppy to announce that all was well to those who had been left outside.
Hours later Dante was arranging the clothes for her husband to change while their four cubs surrounded their mother who was talking to them as she nursed her fifth child. It was heartwarming to see and he realised he would need to buy a bigger bed. Once they left after saying goodbye Dante took Aidan in his arms to rest Lukyan and put him in his little bed playing with his fingers until he closed his little eyes.
She went over and sat down next to her husband to k**s his forehead.
-Are you happy,” asked Lukyan.
-As never in my life, I have five restless puppies to take care of and a complicated husband to raise,” she joked, getting a nudge, “But yes, I wouldn’t change anything I have now.
Lukyan put a hand on the back of his neck and pulled him in for a k**s.
-Hold me,” he asked, “Like there’s no tomorrow.
-Forever, my wolf.
