Dante rose to his full height returning to his human image. He looked at the five wolves before him and nodded for their leader to copy his same action. Fallen hesitated a bit and transformed more slowly, remaining kneeling on the ground with his head down, his long. chocolate hair fell over his back and shoulders covering his facial expression as well. Looking a non pack alpha in the eyes was considered a fatal offense and Dante could tear his throat out just thinking about it.

-The conditions are set,” authority was in the air.

-Yes alpha, all those who could be evacuated are hidden in a safe place, the queen’s former beta and current commander is awaiting orders to begin the revolt,” Fallen replied with precision.

-You have thought carefully about all this, perhaps you want to be the alpha and you are using me as an excuse to achieve your plans,” the growls of the other wolves of the Silver Pack traveled potent in the air and Fallen’s back muscles tensed, sweating slightly.

-I never intended to be alpha, I just want my pack to be as normal as any other, for there not to be so much misery and suffering, for the queen to take power again and times to be as they were in the old days, when he led. I am not so deluded to think that a simple wolf like me can take on such a great responsibility,” he explained humbly.

Dante was silent for a few seconds. He didn’t know how these boys had been raised, but of one thing he was sure: he wouldn’t mind having them by his side.

-Relax puppy- he reached over and patted his shoulder looking down at him from above- I’ve heard from your brothers how you are, I just wanted to see it personally, confirm if it’s true that you’re as correct as they told.

Fallen let out a sigh of relief.

Dante, the benevolent one, that’s what they called him in other packs, that was the reason they had placed all their trust in him.

-My brothers,” he asked worriedly.

-They are fine, I left them with someone I trust, they are waiting in my mansion,” he was concise.

-Thank you alpha Dante, I don’t know how to repay your gratitude,” he bowed gratefully.

-Don’t worry, your brothers are aware of what I want in return,” he turned his back.

Fallen raised his head in concern, perhaps it would be….

-If I defeat your father, his pack will pass into my hands, as well as his queen,” said the alpha.

The younger wolf frowned, but did not reply. The look on the wolf’s face said it all, he had to trust him, he had to trust him. He prayed that history would not repeat itself.

B***d was flowing. Multiple howls, growls, cries of pain, bites flooded the night under a red cloud. The Silver Pack was gaining ground as they had infiltrated and used the surprise factor to their advantage. They had encountered resistance that they had mitigated with equal intensity. Most of the wolves only answered to alpha Sylas because they had no choice, no matter how cruel their leader was, he was their leader unless someone challenged him and so far no one had dared.

Dante advanced down the hallway stained with b***d that was not his own and trickled down the fur on his back and powerful muzzle. The battle to enter the mansion had been intense, but the victims were only limited to being severely wounded. He had given explicit orders not to eliminate anyone, a slaughter without reason was illogical and he had his methods for dealing with those who would not redeem themselves.

Fallen was following closely behind him in similar condition to the leader, plus a wound on his right paw that made him limp.

The older wolf sensed the scent of another alpha nearby. The wretch had confined himself to the royal hall with other guards. And that was the most important figure in the pack? He laughed, in his 600+ years and in all the disputes he had been involved in, he had put his chest to the front as the main defender of his pack. He would surely give that canine eyesore a lesson in ethics.

He stood before the door of the royal hall with the son of his enemy at his back and three more wolves, the faithful beta and the closest guards who had refused to leave his side, as dictated by the b***d pact they had sworn to him.

The hair on his back stood on end as the door shattered and two wolves rushed at him. His two guards reacted quickly and stopped the attack, grabbing them both by the throat in mid-air and holding them awkwardly on the ground. Three more canines appeared before Dante and this time it was he who attacked knocking them out of the way and knocking them unconscious. They couldn’t do much against an animal that outnumbered them in size, sturdiness and strength by several numbers.

He felt Fallen’s growl at his back.

Sylas was standing in front of the alpha by a few feet. Three wolves were defending him without moving from their place, while another smaller wolf with brown fur stood at bay, tail between his paws at the alpha’s side. He was trembling noticeably.

Dante became alert and bared his fangs, showing them in all their glory. The gleam in his eyes shone so brightly that all three of his enemy’s guards lowered their ears and g*****d turning away. The alpha of the Silver Pack was annoyed and knew the feeling he exerted on the others, he was not at the top of the pyramid for fun, despite multiple rumors of his goodwill.

He advanced towards Sylas who bristled every hair on his body in an attempt to appear larger and more menacing. The thick chain holding a rusty key was lost in the fur and was not unnoticed. His alpha scent was lost in front of his opponent, his height, barely reaching him, still he lunged in attack, no one would steal his throne.

Both wolves became entangled in a battle of heart-rending bites and deep scratches.

Only the stronger would emerge unscathed from that fight.

And many knew the outcome.
