A Drunken Decision ( Annabelle Ross ) -
A Drunken Decision Cynthia Chapter 85
Chapter 85
Howard fell a little dejected. He never knew that his sister thought this way about him
He was rather fond of Hazel, and that was why he was especially strict with her. He did not want her to become spoilt. He hoped that she could be as intellectual and elegant as Yolanda,
Whenever he heard that she had done something wrong, he would reproach her sternly
He felt that this was what an elder brother should do.
However, Hazel was now saying that she wished she did not have an elder brother like him.
This caused Howard to feel extremely defeated.
Could it be that he was wrong all this while?
This was the first time a dejected Howard did not rush over to visit when Yolanda was sick.
Josh was surprised at Howard’s lukewarm response. Even Yolanda was baffled.
Yolanda did not like Howard, and his attentiveness even made her very frustrated. She sometimes wished he could disappear from her life. It was human nature. When a person showered another with attention and vanished one day, the latter would not be able to adapt to the sudden lack of
attention.
This change was especially apparent when she compared Howard to two fools.
“It must be Eliza. Hahaha. Only she is so mischievous to do such a thing” Josh regretted not seeing it for himself. He had never seen someone so scared out of her wits by a toy snake after many years..
As they were all friends, josh laughed heartily. Irving was trying to control his laughter but he ended up laughing with Josh.
Yolanda was flabbergasted.
She gritted her teeth. Were they here to visit her or to laugh at her?
Mischievous? Was it an excuse to forgive Elizabeth for what she had done to Yolanda?
Yolanda remembered vividly the toy snake. It felt soft and smooth. When she saw that horrible thing, her hair stood on end. She almost died from fear and panic. How could Elizabeth get away with this simply because she was a mischievous girl?
Regardless of her annoyance, Yolanda fored herself to smile.
She could not be calculative or resentful in front of them. Otherwise, she would not be the gentle and magnanimous lady they thought her to be.
She vowed not to let Annabelle and Elizabeth off.
THey could not blame her for taking action since they were the ones who provoked her first.
Yolanda suppressed the darkness in her eyes and raised her head. When she looked at the two men, she pretended to greet them warmly.
“I’m feeling all right. If you have something to do, go ahead. I’ll be fine after some rest.”
She thought, “Yes, I want to rest now, so can you get lost?”
“It’s okay. It’s really okay.” Josh waved his hand dismissively. “I specially went to the company early so I could come and visit you. I only came over after I finished my work.”
Irving nodded. “I’m not busy either. I’ve pushed away all the unimportant work. There are some urgent matters that I have to attend to, but they can wait till this afternoon.”
“Thank you both!” Yoland gritted her teeth and smiled.
“That’s what friends are for!” Josh felt that Yolanda was too polite. “You don’t have to stand on ceremony”
“That’s right! You’re our dear friend. You’re sick. As your friends, how can we not come and visit you?” Irving said.
“Speaking of illness…” Josh’s expression became serious. “Yolanda, your health may have deteriorated after living overseas for the past few years. How can such a toy scare you so much? This wouldn’t do. You should exercise more.”
“How is she supposed to exercise more? Shall we get Eliza to scare her a few more times?” Irving asked. He then started laughing.
Yolanda was outraged. She fumed inwardly, “Get lost, both of you! Get lost! I don’t want to see the two of you now.”
Instead, replied, “Yes, I’ll try to exercise more.”
Yolanda then realized that everyone was just putting up a front. No one was being sincere in this world.
Life was too difficult.
Yolanda now preferred Howard to Josh and Irving. Howard would never laugh in her face. If Yolanda said she wanted to take a rest, he would let her rest quietly and stay by her side.
Chapter 85
What happened in the past few years? Why were they unable to read her feelings? Had she been too diplomatic and hid her feelings too well?
Yolanda put on a tired face.
Finally, Josh and Irving realized they had been too insensitive and told her to rest well before leaving.
“Okay, you guys should leave. We’ll meet again when I feel better.” Yolanda did not dare to say anything to make them stay. She was afraid that the two of them would not be able to tell that she was just being polite.
Josh and Irving then left the Littleton residence. However, they did not head home. Instead, they made their way to the Walker residence.
When they passed by the gate of the Smith family, Paulina caught sight of them.
Raising her eyebrows, she looked at Josh and said with a sneer, “Hey, what are you busy with? You’re so busy that you don’t want to come into your own home?”
Josh looked sheepish. “Hehehe, I just didn’t want to disturb you. Hello, my mommy dearest”
“Get lost!” Paulina snapped in annoyance.
“Sure thing!” Josh ran away quickly.
Paulina cursed, “Brat!”
“Hello, Aunt Paulina. Goodbye, Aunt Paulina.” Irving smiled and greeted her politely before scooting off like Josh.
Paulina was seething with anger.
“Why don’t we leave first? If Aunt Paulina replaces out that you went to my aunt’s house but didn’t go home, she will definitely be angry.” Irving caught up with Josh and advised his friend seriously.
Paulina was a teacher. She had taught all of them in school. She was so naggy that she could make delinquents cry with her sharp tongue. Most of her students were traumatized by her.
Even Josh was scared of his mother. Ever since he took over the reins of the family business, he moved out of the family home. He would only go home occasionally.
Josh thought that someone as awesome as Paulina was only suitable for someone like his father.
They were all mortals and could not handle her.
“It’s okay. Let’s go.” Josh said, “We’ll just visit for a while.”
“I want to have a meal with Aunt Mary” Irving said honestly.
“It’s a little difficult to stay and have a meal there. If my mother knows about it, she’ll scream at me,” Josh lamented.
“Then I’ll stay at Aunt Mary’s house. You can go home and have dinner,” Irving insisted.
Josh tried to persuade Irving. “That won’t do. We are buddies. We should share our weal and woe. Come home with me for dinner.”
“No.” Irving refused. “I’ll eat at Aunt Mary’s place!
The two of them argued all the way to the Walker family.
The three girls were discussing something when they saw them walking into the house. They were quite surprised to see Josh and Irving.
However, they soon regained their senses. They knew what they were here for.
“Hmph!” Elizabeth and Hazel snorted coldly and ignored the two of them.
Only Annabelle did not understand the intricate relationship between them. She was the only one who greeted them warmly.
