“Why do you sound like you’re blaming me?” Lucas looked down at her. “I didn’t even try to seduce anyone!”

Annabelle reached out and patted his chest, signaling him not to worry. She did not want to argue. She was just sighing. “Ifl weren’t pregnant, you would definitely receive the same treatment!”

Lucas replied, “I don’t need this treatment at all. I don’t need it.”

Annabelle couldn’t help but laugh when she saw Lucas act like that.

When the two of them returned home, it was almost eleven o’clock. At this time, everyone in the family except Elizabeth had fallen asleep.

“How are you? Are you alright?” As soon as Elizabeth saw them, she threw away her phone and walked over with a worried expression.

“Huh? What could it be?” Annabelle asked in confusion as he took off his coat.

“Didn’t you guys hang around at Maple Street?” Elizabeth asked in confusion. “It’s good that you’re not there!”

“We did!” Annabelle said, “After watching the movie, we went to the night market on Maple Street!”

“Of course!” Elizabeth said matter–of–factly. “Someone is broadcasting it live. The quarrel started because of a minor thing. One person was severely injured, and the other was taken away by the police!”

“I don’t know about it!” Annabelle shook his head. “We were at the back of the crowd and didn’t dare to move forward!”

“You made the right choice!” Elizabeth said. “I heard that they’ve hurt a fo

Annabelle nodded. Just as she was about to bend down to pick up her shoes, Lucas had already placed the slippers at her feet. Annabelle smiled and took off her shoes while leaning against the shoe cabinet. She changed into the fluffy teddy bear slippers.

Mary knew she liked the teddy bear slippers, so she specially bought them for her. Moreover, she even replaced all the family members‘ slippers with them. The teddy bear mom, teddy bear dad, teddy bear hubby, and even Donald and Susan were upset because they didn’t get the teddy bear grandpa and grandma slippers. Mary had no choice but to order two more pairs.

Thinking of this, Annabelle couldn’t help but laugh. Especially when she saw the pair of teddy bear hubby slippers on Lucas’s feet, her smile became even brighter.

Lucas knew what Annabelle was thinking when he saw her smile. Even if he did not want to wear the slippers like the rest of the family, he would still wear them for Annabelle.

So be it. It was just a pair of slippers. He only wore these embarrassing slippers at home, and outsiders could not see them.

“Alright, since there’s nothing else, I’m going to sleep!” Elizabeth said and yawned before turning around to go upstairs.

By the time the two of them were done packing, it was almost midnight. Annabelle fell asleep after lying on the bed for a

while.

When Annabelle woke up the next day, Lucas had already gone to work.

Annabelle went downstairs to look for food. When she was at the staircase, she bumped into Elizabeth, who had dark circles under her eyes.

“Good morning!” Annabelle greeted.

“It’s late now. It’s almost ten o’clock.” Elizabeth looked up at her and said listlessly.

“You’ve just woken up too!” Annabelle reminded Elizabeth. They were the same, so Elizabeth did not have to be judgemental.

Elizabeth was stunned for a second and then replied, “… You are right!”

Hence, the two of them shut up and went downstairs to look for food.

Brenda was already preparing the ingredients for lunch. When she saw Annabelle and Elizabeth coming down from upstairs, she quickly brought the breakfast to them and reminded them to fill their stomachs first. If not, they had to wait a while before lunch was done.

The two of them were very obedient, but they were too hungry to talk. After eating a plate of pancakes, they felt refreshed.

Annabelle glanced at Elizabeth. She wondered how angry Elizabeth would be if she knew that the person this woman was complaining about was none other than Lucas and her.

Annabelle was curious. Just as that woman was complaining about Lucas, Annabelle paused the video. Then, she pointed at the subtitles and said to Elizabeth, “This egomaniac is talking about Lucas!”

“What did you say?” As expected, Elizabeth was furious when she heard that. She slammed her palm on the coffee table. “She’s crazy. How dare she talk shit about Lucas?” However, Elizabeth was not so protective of her sister–in–law. She knew that Annabelle could understand the insult from that woman, and Annabelle wouldn’t hold a grudge.

“Because she tried to talk to Lucas, but because she pushed me, Lucas was angry and ignored her. Then she said that Lucas was arrogant and something!” That young woman was quite pretty. Maybe she could not stand being ignored by others. because she thought she was pretty.

Yesterday, Lucas’s attitude had become a form of humiliation to that woman.

That was why that woman wanted to vent her anger online. She twisted the truth and said nonsense. However, if one looked more carefully, one would know she was spouting nonsense.

This was also the reason why Elizabeth was arguing with that woman. However, she didn’t expect this woman to be complaining about her brother.
