Chapter 99

Annabelle was stunned when she heard that. She did not know how she felt at this moment.

“That’s enough?” Madeline asked on the other end of the line. “Back then, our family gave them a sum of money to cut off the connection between the two sides. They didn’t need you as their daughter, so…”

“I want to see them!” Before Madeline could finish, Annabelle interrupted. “Tell them not to worry. I won’t pester them! I won’t affect their lives!”

“Who’s the immoral one? I saw it clearly just now. Your chess piece touched the chessboard!” Donald said angrily. As he spoke, he did not forget to wink at Susan. He didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of Annabelle.

Unfortunately, Susan felt that his eyes were cramping. Not only did she not back down, but she also told him not to play chess with her in the future if his eyes were uncomfortable.

Donald was rendered speechless.

“Grandma, I’m going to deliver some fruits to Grandpa,” Annabelle said to Susan with a plate of fruits in her hand.

“You’re right, I won’t bicker with him!” Susan obediently sat on the sofa. Bickering with Donald made her seem as childish as him.

When Donald heard that, he smiled happily.

At that moment, Elizabeth and Hazel returned. When they heard the laughter, they came directly over.

“What’s the matter? Why are you so happy?” Elizabeth came over and took a piece of melon from the fruit platter and stuffed it into her mouth. As she chewed, she asked curiously.

“Don’t talk when you’re eating!” Donald glared at her and reminded her.

However, Annabelle stuffed the fruit plate into her hand and allowed her to eat slowly.

Elizabeth was at a loss for words again.

Donald didn’t care about her anymore and went to look for Susan to reconcile.

Hazel also came over after greeting the elders.

“How’s the investigation going? Any news?” Annabelle asked as she let the two of them eat together.

Just as Elizabeth was about to speak, she remembered that she had stuffed another piece of fruit into her mouth. She subconsciously glanced at Donald. After confirming that he had gone, she nodded at Annabelle.

Hazel also stabbed a piece of apple and stuffed it into her mouth before saying. “We saw the owner of that shop today!” Elizabeth nodded. “She looks ordinary and nothing special, but she’s quite enthusiastic about people. She smiles when she sees people!“They couldn’t even question her even if they wanted to.
