Chapter 126 Russian Roulette

Betting on lives..

The words rang through the crowd like a bomb, causing everyone to grow abuzz with chatter.

Everyone was shocked by Lucian’s methods.

They all stared at him in shock.

Even William stopped short, staring at Lucian with an unreadable expression on his face. It was clear that he had not expected that.

Yet Sylvain was all ears, asking, “Sure, how would you like to go about this?”

Lucian swaggered up to Sylvain, picking up the revolver on the table. “Let’s play a game of Russian Roulette.”

Russian Roulette…

“Hiss…”

Everyone gasped at the words.

This was an extremely cruel game, one that put one’s life up as a gambling stake. One wrong move and your life would be taken with the sound of a gunshot. Only the most extreme gamblers dared to bet on things like this.

“Ha ha ha ha.”

All of a sudden, Sylvain laughed out loud with his head thrown back, his voice full of mocking and condescension.

Just as he was laughing, the men around him began to chuckle as well. It seemed like Lucian was asking to lose, suggesting such a game.

Many people knew that Sylvain loved playing this game.

Countless people had flown in internationally to play this game with Sylvain, and all of them had lost. Sylvain had since then played more than three hundred rounds of Russian Roulette, and he had never lost a single round.

There were over two hundred people who had surrendered and backed out, though.

The remaining hundred or so people had all lost to Sylvain’s revolver.

To everyone else, Sylvain was a complete maniac. He was willing to give everything up for a bet,

including his own life. He also had an impeccable psyche, which made no young person his

match at all.

This abandoned Gray son was destined to die at his hands tonight.

“You want to play that game with me? Isn’t that just handing your head over to me?”

Sylvain’s eyes flashed with confidence and cruelty. He was certain that he would not lose.

“I’m sure you know the rules?”

Lucian asked, devoid of emotion.

“Of course, I’ve never lost a game. Why wouldn’t I know the rules?”

Sylvain’s tone was nothing but confident as he spoke.

“You’re allowed to pass, you know.”

Before starting, Lucian tacked on one last sentence. He was, after all, just here to rescue Simon and his family and not kill Sylvain.

“Pass?”

Sylvain scoffed coldly, his gaze nothing but disdained. “I’ve never passed on this game before. Since you want to play, let’s bet on our lives. Either you die, or I live. How’s that?”

“Are you really going that far?”

Lucian sighed. This man was crazy.

“That’s because I’m not going to lose.”

Sylvain’s gaze was filled with nothing but disdain for Lucian. “There’s no way I’m losing to a nobody like you. Try not to wet your pants when the first bullet goes off, ha ha ha.”

Sylvain’s words made everyone cra ck up. It was clear how confident he was.

“Well, let’s cut the cr ap and start, then.”

Lucian picked up the revolver, taking apart the clip. He saw six bullets in it as expected, and took five of them out before putting it back on.

All at once, the room fell silent and the tension grew.

Simon and his family were scared out of their wits, their gazes flashing in disbelief. They had thought that Lucian would contact Sir Azure Dragon to save them, only for Lucian to end up

playing such a dangerous game with Sylvain.

“Lucian, don’t play. We’ll come up with the money somehow.”

Simon would never stand and watch Lucian bet his life on a game just to save them.

Denise and Rosine were close to tears as well, trembling in fear. Rosine had been especially grateful to Lucian ever since he had rescued her from King Austral, and now he was going to bet his life just for her brother.

That wasn’t right.

“Shut up, all of you.”

Sylvain had a crazed glint in his eye, pointing at the crowd. “You can play if you’re going to stop him. This game’s going to happen today, I haven’t played in a while.

It had been three months since Sylvain’s last round of Russian Roulette.

He had invited many gamblers to play throughout this time with increasingly high stakes, but no one had said yes. Sylvain was just far too lucky. He had never lost.

It seemed like games like this were made for someone like Sylvain.

Lady Luck was just on his side.

Everyone was scared into silence by Sylvain.

Lucian cast a glance at them, before putting the revolver to his head with a smile devoid of fear. “You first.”

“Sure, sure.”

Sylvain’s gaze flashed as he took the revolver, pulling the trigger at once.

“Click…” The air rang with the sound of an empty bullet.

This shot did not hold a bullet.

The next second, Lucian took the revolver and pointed it to his brain before pulling the trigger without a shred of hesitation. It was an empty round as well.

Lucian was nothing but confident. The barrier was flushed to his temple, and he did not panic in the slightest.

Both men were calm and collected, but everyone else was so panicked they were going to suffocate. Even a scu mbag like William could hardly breathe. He had seen games like this played

on television before, and thought that they were quite fun.

Until he witnessed a game himself, and realized how terrifying it was.

No one knew if the next round would contain a bullet.

No one knew if the next shot would kill someone.

Following that, Sylvain took the revolver. He pointed it to his head, pulling the trigger. Empty round.

“Stop playing!”

Denise could not take it any longer, her voice going h oa rse with fear. “Lucian, stop it. I won’t know what to say to your mother if anything happens to you, and I’ll spend the rest of my life in regret. Please, stop playing.”

Rosine piped up as well. “Lucian, don’t be rash, please don’t be rash!”

Lucian hesitated briefly, not continuing to fire.

There were three more bullets in the gun. There was now a thirty-three percent possibility of death.

“Why, are you scared?”

Sylvain squinted his eyes. “You can back out if you’re scared, but you’re going to be a dog for the casino for a month. We’re putting you on a leash and tying you to a pole! Think about it, I’m alright with anything.”

“Click.” Lucian smirked playfully, pulling the trigger again.

Another empty round!

There were two more bullets.

The probability of death had increased again.

Now there was a fifty-fifty chance of survival.

The room was silent like never before. It was as if the world had gone quiet.

All eyes were on Sylvain.

Sylvain’s chest was heavy as he took the revolver in his hands. Gone was the playfulness and confidence from before. He was indeed a l unatic, but putting his life at a gun’s stake still filled him with panic. He swallowed, slowly pulling the trigger.

This time, Sylvain was properly nervous.

He had never reached the last two bullets in the three hundred rounds of Russian Roulette he had played. The other party would always surrender by the second or third bullet. This was the first time there was only a fifty percent chance at survival.

“Forget it, let’s not do this!”

Lucian stopped Sylvain. “Just give me fifty million dollars and let us go. I don’t want to make a big deal out of this.”

“Sir, he’s looking down on you.”

William, ever the devil’s advocate, piped up immediately. “If you fire one more round and you’re fine, this kid’s dead. You’ve got a fifty-fifty chance. If you live, he’ll be dead for sure. He’s just looking for a way out.”

Many people nodded at William’s words in agreement.

Sylvain was afraid, but Lucian was even more afraid.

If the bullet did not go into Sylvain, it was going to go into Lucian.

He appeared to be giving Sylvain a chance, but was actually just looking for a way out.

This was what everyone thought.

“I’ve said before that no one’s as lucky as I am! I’ve never lost once in three hundred games, and this will be no exception.” Sylvain paid no mind to William, closing his eyes and pulling the trigger.

“Bang!”

Just then, an ear-piercing gunshot rang through the room.
