Chapter 11- Amara

Sunday went in lazing around and stuffing my face with anything that Ifound edible. Ryder didn't leave my side except when I was bathing orusing the washroom. That too he was standing right outside of thedoor. It feels weird to bath or pee or poop when your brother is justoutside the door and with enhanced hearing to add in theembarrassment. Papa was out doing god know what. Uhhh I miss myfreedom. Well I am being overly dramatic but it's really getting on mynerves now. It's Monday morning and I am on Ryder's back, on my wayto school. He is dropping me off. Hehehe I am a lazy bum, so I don'tmind. At least I don't have to walk all the way there.

We reached our usual place where he drops and picks me up. I got offhis back. I thought he will turn around and go back home but hestarted walking towards the school.

"Umm where are you going?" I asked confused.

"To the school with you.” He said like it's the most normal thing in theworld.

"Whaaaat? Have you lost your mind? What am I going to say in theschool? Hey people this is my older brother and yes he is a transparentwolf. You can see right through him. He is going to stay by my side inthe school for a few days because of some vampires lodging around us.Please be nice to him. Everyone will freak out after seeing you Ryder. Iwill be fine. Besides it's a school and it's stuffed with god knows howmany people. No one will harm me there. So relax and go home. I willlet you know in the mind link when I get off." I stopped my rant.

"First, I am not a transparent wolf. I am a wolf spirit." he said giving anannoyed face making me giggle "Second, those vampires go to thevery same school and I am not risking anything. Papa will murder me ifthose vampires got even near you. And no one can see me if I don'twant them to. I don't know how you did it back then but it's a story foranother time. Also no one can touch me. I am a spirit for god's sake.They will pass right through me. So we don't have a problem here. Iknow your mind is filled with questions by the looks you are giving meright now but we need to go. So get your butt to school right now oryou will be late." He said amused by my reaction.

I opened my mouth to talk, but he cut me off," I am not answering anyof your questions so shut your mouth and start walking. Just think that Iam not here and you won't be bothered. We will talk in the mind linkwhile we are here so you won't look stupid talking to yourself." I huffedand started walking.

How am I supposed to think that he is not here when I can see a hugefreaking wolf walking by my side and people walking right throughhim? It's a very disturbing sight. I mean you don't get a chance to watchpeople passing right through your brother everyday but you don't wantto witness such scene either. I am walking in the school corridor whichis filled with students, looking at Ryder passing right through people orpeople passing through him. My state of horror was broken thoughwhen something big and fat dropped on my back. I almost lost mybalance but caught it at the last moment. The said object turned out tobe none other than Aaron. He put his hand over my shoulder and Rydergrowled.

“Relax. He is my best friend.’ I told Ryder in the mind link. Brothers.Ryder huffed and continued walking but now by my side. Overprotective brother mode activated. I ignored him and started talkingwith Aaron.

"Hey!"

"Hi." He replied.

"How was your weekend?" I asked him.

"Good. I was lazing around anyway. How about you?" he said.

A vampire almost killed me and I found out all the Knights arevampires. I lost my freedom due to those stupid vampires. There is ahuge ass wolf walking by side as a proof. Other than that everything'speachy. Ryder sniggered beside me. I so want to hurl a brick at him butit will pass right through him so I won't bother wasting my energy."Good." I said in a sarcastic tone. But fortunately Aaron didn't catch it.Ryder snickered again. I completely ignored him.

The bell rang signalling to enter the class and we ran towards it. Itsbiology as usual with Aaron as my partner. Alexander was already in hisseat talking to Elena. They looked like they knew each other pretty well.I shouldn't interfere in their matter. He smiled at me when I passed hisdesk. I just looked at him with a confused face as I didn't knew what todo. I sat at my desk. Aaron sat beside me. They both turned around.Elena said," Are you alright? You look quiet tired.”

"Yeah. Just caught a bit of cold.” I replied.

"Did you see a doctor then?" Elena asked.

"Nahhh I will be as good as new in a few days." I replied rubbing myeyes. I should have stayed home.

"If you say so." Elena said shrugging.

Alexander was about to say something when Mr. Bush entered theclassroom. He started teaching. Aaron and I were talking in hushedvoices about some anime when I got a text. The number was saved asAK. When did I save this number and who is it? I opened it. It read,“Hey! This is Alex. I saved my number in your phone when you wereunconscious and got yours as well. Are you free after school? I have totalk to you about something.’

Holly hell! I so want to smack him in the back of his head. How dare hetouch my phone without asking me? Well I can't do much about it now.I looked at him but he was staring straight ahead. What does he wantto talk to me about anyway? Ryder definitely won't allow me to meethim. I told Ryder about the message in the mind link, he said see whathe wants. This is weird. I replied to Alexander,

Yeah, I am free. What do you want to talk about?’

'I will tell you after school. Meet me at the back of the school after lastclass.’

"You are not planning on killing me are you?" I joked but I was stillconforming my doubts.

“No. Off course not. Meet me there okay."

“Fine’

Biology and Calculus were over in a blink and it is lunch now. I amwalking towards canteen with Aaron on one side and Ryder on theother. We took our lunch and started walking towards our usual table.Holy shit Alexander was sitting their chatting with my sister. I heard agrow! from Ryder but, he went silent after that. Alexander said hi to meand I returned it. Don't want to come out as rude do we now. I satdown on the seat opposite of him. Aaron sat on my left and he alsolooked confused seeing Alexander here. God his name is a mouthful.Got to shorten it up. Someone took the seat on my right and Rydergrowled again. I looked towards my right and almost screamed insurprise. It was none other than Natalie and right beside her was Oliver,both grinning at me. Well this isn't creepy. Everyone at the table werelooking at the Knights like what is going on over here. Are they goingto stalk me now?

“Are you feeling alright now?” Natalie asked me.

"Yeah. Much better than Saturday." I replied.

"Can we be friends?" she continued in a hushed voice so only me, herand Oliver can hear. But I know Alex heard her too with his superhearing and all that. She took me by surprise though.

"Why? I mean... I want to. But why me?" I shuttered out. Real smoothAmara.

"See being us, we didn't had any friend other than the family and wedon't trust other vampires that much to call them friends. As youalready know about us and you look like we can trust you, we thoughtwhy not.” Oliver nodded his head and Natalie continued "I alwayswanted a friend out of the family, so I don't have to hang out withthese two knuckle heads. Besides Alex is really into Elena. She will becomfortable too. So?" she wiggled her eyebrows.

There isn't any loss in this and they seem really nice. If Aaron isacquainted even little with the Knights, no one will bully him when I amnot around, which is almost never. We are stuck together like glue. Itwill be a win win situation as the two of them are seniors. But Alex andElena together. It will be really dangerous for her. I can keep an eye onthem if I am with them as well.

"Okay." I said smiling.

She squealed and gave me a big hug. I introduced them to Aaron. Westarted talking and lunch passed by quickly. So we are now off to class.Ryder was awfully quiet all this time. I have a feeling he is going to blowin my face when we get back home.
