As soon as I was out of the door, I started taking deep breaths. How thehell can they expect this from me? I know it is bound to happensomeday but this is way too early and forceful. Asher didn't even sayanything about it. Maybe he is bound to follow the rules. He shouldhave at least filled me in a little. Well that would have at least preventedthe rude things I said to them. I would have come prepared. Oh mygod! I just shouted and disrespected my mate's parents. Well I can’t doanything about it now. I will apologize latter. I don't want to go homeright now. Aaron's car is still here. Should I call him? Let's give it a try. Idialled his number and he picked up immediately.

“Hey’, I said.

"Hi. What's up? he sounded a bit scared. Something is wrong.

You are at Carter's right. What's going on over there?"

“Yeah. I will tell you later." He said hastily.

“Okay. Well I... Umm’ I hesitated.

“Are you alright Amy?" he asked worried.

Yes. I am fine. I was thinking, would you like to go to the beach, if youare free that is?" I asked.

'I actually was going to ask you the same thing." Umm okay. Somethingis definitely wrong.

“Really?’

"Yup. There is a lot on my mind right now. Where are you? I will pickyou up.

“Actually I am outside Asher's house." I said sheepishly.

“Okay. Get in the car right now. I am sneaking out of here. My car isn'tlocked.’ Sounds were coming in the background of someone slammingtheir fists on a door.

"You sound like we are running away.’ What did he do now?“Something like that. Get in the driver's seat. You know how to driveright?"

“Speed out as soon as I enter the car.’ The banging got harder.

“Okay’

I cut the call and looked at Asher's house. He didn't even come tocheck up on me. Well got to get used to disappointment. I opened thedriver's side of the door and got in. The key is already in the ignition.This guy can be really irresponsible. Aaron came out of Carter's houserunning like his ass is on fire and got in the passenger side.

"Go. Go. Go." he shouted

I turned the car and saw a very angry Carter coming out of the house.Aaron's eyes widened in horror. OMG Aaron, what the hell did you do?I can get the details later. Carter said something but I didn't hear it. Ipressed my foot on the accelerator and we dashed out towards thebeach. Once we were on the cliff, I released the breath I didn't know Iwas holding. That was downright crazy. I don't even know why we ranaway from there like that. I turned my head towards Aaron and he waslooking at me already. We burst out in laughing fits.

"Why the hell were we running? Did you step on his tail or what?" Ijoked but I wanted to know what happened.

"I did not step on his tail. I wouldn't dare. Let me relax a little please.We should go sit and relax first. Cliff or beach?" he said sighing."Beach"

“Let's go."

We climbed down the hill and sat on a log on the beach. Thank god itisn't raining right now.

"So..." I dragged. He sighed loudly. This guy sighs a lot.

"After school I got a call from Carter saying he wants to talk aboutsomething important. So I went there.” He paused looking troubled.Did that bitch hurt my friend? “He told me about the pack rules aboutmarriage and stuff. He said that we have to get engaged this week nomatter what. And we will get married when both of us are eighteen. Idon't want to get married or engaged this soon. I mean he can't justforce me into this. My life has not even started properly yet. I respecthis traditions but that doesn't mean he can make me accept them. Wefought and I refused to get engaged this soon. Hopefully no one washome. He said that I will not leave his house without getting engagedto him and then I have to move in with him. He went inside to call hisparents I think. He thought I will follow his orders like I am his littlebitch but I didn’t. When he went inside his room to get his phone, heshut the door for privacy or that's what it looked like. That's when youcalled. I locked the door. He was banging on the door but I ran out. Youknow what happened next.” He finished looking at his hands.

"Holly shit!! He was making you marry him without your consent. Whatis with those shifters forcing people to marry?" I spat angrily.

"Yup. I don't want to talk about it right now. What about you? DidAsher forced you as well?" he asked furrowing his brows.

"Yeah something like that. Not him exactly but his parents wereimplying that I go by the rules. Asher didn't say a word in all this. Afteryou left Asher took me to his place. I met his parents. They interviewedme." He snickered "I mean it, they literally interviewed me. Then all of asudden they asked when we are getting engaged. His father and I had areally bad shouting match.”

"Geez what's with these people and marriages?" he asked laughing butI saw the troubled look on his face.

"Anyways, I told them I haven't thought about it yet. So they told methat I am supposed to get engaged to Asher this week and marriedwhen I turn eighteen. Asher didn't even say a word on all this. I refused.Obviously. So his father declared that I will get engaged to him thisSunday. I got angry. I refused to follow his orders quite rudely andstormed out of the house. Asher didn't even come to check up on me.Then I called you and here we are." I finished. I felt a pang in my heartwhen I said his name.

“Do you think they will make us marry forcefully?” Aaron asked scared.“Don't worry. I won't let that happen to us.” I assured him.

Aaron swung his arm over my shoulder and pulled me close. I restedmy head on his shoulder. We sat there like that watching the waves fora while.

"Amy will they come after us?" Aaron said breaking the silence.

"I don't think Asher will but Carter will definitely come to replace you.” Ihope Asher comes too. I think I am starting to like him.

"Nahh he won't", I lifted my head form his shoulder and looked at him."He cares for you Aaron. I won't be wrong to say he loves you already.Marriage is a huge commitment. If he is ready to marry you anymoment, proves that he really loves you. Talk to him. He mightunderstand your views about it. If he hurts you then come straight tome. I will beat the shit out of him." I said seriously.

He chuckled,” Yeah I will try. What about you? Isn't it the same?""Nahh. He never stood up for me nor did he try to confront me himselfabout the rules like Carter. Today I felt like, he just wants to marry mebecause of the rules. He didn't even say anything when his father wasalmost shouting at me. He didn't even come to talk to me when Iwalked out of his house. I know he came to school to see me. He evensaid he loved me.” I said looking down. “But after that he took me to hisparents without any warning. They were ordering me like I am somelowlife who is bound to follow their orders. Asher didn't object nor didhe said a word. It felt like the kiss and that sweet talk was just a bait, soI will follow him willingly.”

"Hey don't think like that. Maybe they just got carried away. Everythingwill be alright.” Aaron said smiling at me. I know he is trying to lift myspirit but this doesn’t seem to be working right now. I feel betrayed. Idon't know why. But in the back of my mind it feels like there is more toAsher than this.

"I hope so too. But if he doesn't want me as a person and is with mejust because he has to be as I am his mate, then I will leave. I will gosomewhere far away and start a new life. Just one and a half year till Iturn eighteen. No one can restrict me then. I will graduate next yearanyway so I can go to college too." I said trying to convince myself thateverything will be fine.

"Amy think it through before you act. I won't stop you from anything. Ijust want you to be happy. Talk to Asher and get to know what hewants. Don't make any rational decisions. Okay?" he said seriously."Yup." I agreed.

Somewhere in my heart I want him to stop me from leaving.
