A Girl Adopted by Wolves -
Chapter 36- Amara
I can see only energy of everything around me when I opened my eyes.I put my hands on the right side of Leo's chest. I heard his bonesreshaping and mending to their original position. He screamed fromthe pain and tried to move away but the others held him down. Hislower four ribs were broken. The middle two of the four were crushed. One down three to go. I moved my hands up to the second one andjoined his rib. Then third and then fourth. He kept on screaming everytime I moved his bones. He must be in a lot of pain. I don't want him todie.
It's getting hard to breath but I have to do this. I can't stop till he iscompletely healed. I got up to get on his other side but the worldswirled around me. Someone kept me from falling. I looked up to replaceAsher. I don't know how I can still recognize him when I am only seeingbright lights. I took in a breath and moved to Leo's left side, still a bitdizzy. I can't let him die.
"Don't do this Amy. You can die. I just got you. I can't lose you." Ashersaid in a broken desperate voice.
"It's just a possibility. If I don't do this he will die. Why shouldn't I savehim when I can? He is the pack’s alpha. He needs to be alive. I don'tthink I have to tell you the importance of an alpha to a pack. He isimportant to this pack. Even if I have to die for him to survive, I will doit. You told me I am a part of this pack right. I will protect my alpha withmy life." I said to him smiling.
Asher didn't press on it anymore. Leo's breath was coming in shortpants, like he was struggling to breath. His entire rib cage was brokenon this side. I don't know how he survived this long. I won't be wrong ifI say his lung might be hurt. That's why blood is coming out of hismouth. I wasted no time and started healing his ribs. I healed thebottom two ribs but Leo started gurgling blood. He looked like he ischocking on his own blood. My eyes widened. I started healing hisupper ribs and left lung. After healing his upper half of the ribs and hislung, his breathing became normal. I healed the remaining ribs andtook a deep breath. He will survive. Just a few days of rest and he willbe as good as new due to his fast healing. He isn't conscious yet but hewill wake up in a few hours, I think. The others were happy about theiralpha's well-being.
I put my hands on my lap and closed my eyes. I opened them andeverything came back to normal. No more bright lights. It's gettinghard to breath. It feels like someone is squishing my lungs and they arenot getting enough space to fill air in them. Everything startedspinning. A drop of blood fell on my hand. I touched my nose to replace itbleeding. Tears weld up in my eyes. I am feeling sharp pain with everybreath I took. My chest hurts really badly. I started gasping for air. I wasabout to fall backwards but Asher caught me. All the commotion thatwas going around me stopped or did my ears go numb?
"No no no. Amy stay with me okay. I will get you to the hospital in notime. Don't close your eyes please. Look at me." He said frantically. Heseems really worried about me.
"Chest...hurts...can't...breathe.” I managed to say. I wanted to tell himthat I will be fine and to stop worrying about me but I can't.
The ends of my vision started to blur. I feel so tired. I wanted to closemy eyes and take a long nap. I felt someone pick me up.
"Amy keep your eyes open. You are going to get through this princess."papa's voice felt so distant.
"Please stay with me.” I don't know who said that but after that Islipped into the darkness.
I heard beeping around me. I tried to open my eyes but it felt like myeyelids have something heavy on them. My body feels like I was runover by a truck. After a lot of struggle, I opened my eyes but shut themimmediately due to the blinding white light. I opened my eyes again toadjust them to the light. Various tubes are sticking out of me. I have abreathing mask on. My body feels stiff. I turned my head slightly to replaceAsher sleeping with his head on the side of my bed, near my right hand.I lifted my fingers and touched his hair.
"Asher", it came out as whisper, a hoarse sound. Is that my voice? Mythroat feels dry and scratchy. I need water.
He jolted up fast and stood in front of me protectively lookingeverywhere but towards me. His back is facing me. He rubbed his handson his face and turned around. His eyes landed on me and a series ofemotions passed through his eyes. Happiness, longing, love, relief andmuch more. He stood there like he can't believe what he was seeing. Hecame near me and held my hand. He sat on the chair he was sleepingbefore.
"You are awake." He whispered like testing his own words. I noddedlightly, "Oh my god! What am I doing? I should go call the doctor. I willbe right back baby.” He kissed my forehead and dashed out. Myidiotically adorable mate. Geez what am I thinking? I blushed but theaction seemed to send an ache to my head.
I looked at the white ceiling. I saved a life. It feels really good. The dooropened and the doctor came in with Asher right on his tail. The doctorremoved my oxygen mask and lifted the upper half of the bed a littlewith a remote type thing attached to the bed. Asher placed a glass ofwater to my mouth and I drank greedily.
"I am Dr. Brown. How are you feeling Ms. Cross?" the doctor askedchecking my vitals.
"Like run over by a truck.” Dr. Brown laughed.
"You must be feeling exhausted. It was quite a severe panic attack youhad.” Panic attack? “You are lucky your boyfriend was there at that time. You were in a coma for almost seven days. Do you feel any sort ofproblem in breathing?" What story did he make? I will replace out later."No." I answered.
"Good. Your blood pressure is good and heart rate is back to normal. So you will be fine.” The doctor said looking satisfied at my state.
"Can I go home?" I asked making a face.
"Not fond of hospitals I see.” he chuckled, "I am sorry but you have tostay here for at least a day so we can confirm that you are well enoughto get out of the hospital.” He removed the other tubes except the dripfrom me.
"Okay.", I said pouting. Dr. Brown laughed again and left the room. What? I hate hospitals. I would rather bleed to death than spend anight in a hospital.
I looked at Asher. When I looked at him carefully, he looked exhausted.Sleep deprived mostly with black bags under his eyes. His hairs weresticking in every direction possible.
"Asher you need to rest. You look beat.” He came and sat in the chairnext to my bed.
"l will once the doctor clears you.” He said stubbornly.
"I am alright. Go freshen up and rest. I will be fine.” I tried to convincehim to go home and rest.
"I am not going anywhere. I almost lost you. We are going out of heretogether.” Stubborn as ever.
I don't think he is going to listen. But I can't see him like this. I slid overtowards the side where the drip was hooked, emptying the bed on myside where nothing is attached to me.
"Get on the bed." I ordered.
"No I don't want to hurt you."
Looking at your condition is hurting me more you dumbass.
I narrowed my eyes at him and he got into the bed beside me. I turnedon my side careful of the needle, my back towards him and Asherwrapped his arms around me. I heard him snoring lightly with his faceburied in my hairs. I smiled and closed my eyes slipping into a blissfulslumber myself.
