A Gold Alpha For A Silver Alpha -
Moon-Colored Eyes Chapter 13
Running next to your mate was a unique experience according to my parents and my brother. They used to tell me that you never felt more free than in those moments, that the whole world might be ending but you wouldn't feel that way. Even though my first time with my partner was not in the best of circumstances, I could still feel that aura they talked so much about.
I felt the excitement in my veins, the adrenaline in my heart, the happiness in my soul, the peace in my being. I felt complete, as if I belonged to that precise moment where the earth hit my feet hard, the trees surrounded us and the scent of the forest covered us. Yes, I belonged there and everything else belonged to me.
The thirty minutes became forty as we had to be considerate of the rouge on my partner's back. Nerves made knots in my throat and kept me from fully enjoying the moment.
Soon I felt the aura of the barrier that demarcated my pack's territory, and by the way the relaxed mood disappeared from my mate I knew he felt it too. Two presences approached at full speed, I don't know if it was because they recognized me or because the scent of both rouges caught their attention.
You should stop calling them that, I'm sure many replace that term offensive.
And how do you know that?
Because Romeo told me.
And who is Romeo?
Rafael's wolf of course.
I wanted to laugh even though it wasn't the best situation.
And did Juliet have a mate named Romeo, the world had a twisted sense of humor. But I heeded my she-wolf and made a mental note not to refer to the ro.... Wolves in that way again.
I wanted to start this relationship off right, without screwing up any more than I already had.
The guards barked in warning while others yelled at us to stay away. They had not acknowledged my presence, perhaps because I was covered in the blood of Leonardo, the white-haired girl and the rouge who attacked us earlier.
This is Juliet, let us pass and let my parents know I'm back.
I sent the mental order and only then they stopped grunting but they saw us suspicious. The guard who was in his human form cleared his throat and stood in the middle of our path, by his eye color I recognized him as a former member of Golden Moon, differentiating both members of the packs was extremely simple.
-Miss Juliet, we cannot allow strangers to pass without permission from one of the Alphas, Betas or the Delta.
I growled in annoyance and transformed, to which Rafael also growled in annoyance, most likely because I was naked in front of other males.
-The female is wounded and unconscious, I can promise you that she does not represent a threat to the herd. And are you forbidding her to enter my mate? I asked annoyed and the guard paled a little while he swallowed saliva nervously.
-I wouldn't dare to do that, but these are instructions and it's protocol, we can't not follow them. He said insecurely, my eyes shone and my fangs lengthened threateningly.
-Let them pass, it's a direct order and you'd better remember who you're talking to. Juliet may not be the Alphas' heir, but she is still their daughter, her rank is above theirs, and this wolf is not just any wolf, he is their life partner. The next time you make a mistake like this I'll send you to boot camp for a month. A male voice sounded behind the guards making them startle as they nodded and stepped aside.
Logan's figure was waiting for us in his usual head to toe black combat suit, I connected his eyes with mine and gave him a nod of thanks. He replied it and then went about assessing and analyzing the male next to me, I must say Raphael did an amazing job of not backing down or being overpowered by Mom's Beta aura.
Which made me remember that the size of his wolf was almost that of an Alpha, I wonder what kind of blood runs through his veins.
-Your parents sent Dannia, Noel and me to wait for you and Leonardo at the borders. They didn't expect us to have guests, anyway they were already informed. Dannia is on her way to take the female to the doctor and I will escort you both to the main house. Rafael let out a low hiss and I shot him a worried look.
If Logan says they will take her to the doctor she will be safe. My parents want to meet you and we have to be careful, they are not very happy with you or your friends.
Is it because we don't have a pack?
No, it's because the first time we met they found me full of arrows and bleeding to death. You will realize that we are not a very normal herd and that my parents are tougher and stricter than usual.
You are a daughter of Alphas, the male said so.
I nodded, and reached over to stroke his face to help him relax, which seemed to work because he stopped making sounds of discomfort.
I am the third of my parents' four children, the only female, and the male is my mother's Beta.
I answered automatically and when I finished my mind corrected me, since I had forgotten Leonardo, I was no longer the third of four, but the fourth of five. And I didn't hide it on purpose, it was just habit, but I didn't have time to correct myself because at that moment Dannia arrived in her wolf form.
Running next to your mate was a unique experience according to my parents and my brother. They used to tell me that you never felt freer than in those moments, that the whole world might be ending but you wouldn't feel that way.
She gave us a nod of acknowledgement and walked slowly in our direction. Rafael snorted and looked at her distrustfully but allowed her to help him get her friend off his back and onto Dannia's.
She gave us a nod of acknowledgement and slowly approached in our direction. Rafael snorted and looked at her suspiciously but allowed her to help him get her friend off his back and over to Dannia's.
The Delta gave me a mocking look before trotting off in the opposite direction from us, leaving Rafael, Logan, the guards and me behind.
-Let's go, they're waiting for us. Logan spoke before leading the way.
I was about to transform to follow them and cover my nakedness but Rafael bowed in a way that incited me to mount him, my eyes shone with doubt but he only made a gesture of insistence.
A smile tugged at my lips as I obeyed nicely and sat down so that he could carry me comfortably. His fur tickled my bare skin, a chuckle escaped me, my mate grunted in satisfaction and moved forward to meet Logan who was looking over his shoulder. He made no comment but raised an eyebrow and shot me an amused grimace.
I know some people who won't be too happy to see you on the back of a rouge.
I shot the thought across the link and shot him back an image of my eyes rolling back in my head.
It's my mate, they're going to have to get used to it.
Laughter echoed in my head.
Your mother is going to love to measure forces with him.
I didn't respond because I didn't want to admit that fact bothered me greatly.
I didn't talk to Rafael or Logan the rest of the way, but I made it a point to keep stroking my mate's fur to let him know he wasn't alone. We had a lot of things to fix between us but in order to get to that I had to survive my family first.
Wolves from the pack looked at us curious and surprised, they whispered among themselves, where before they greeted me and hugged me now they were mute with shock.
I didn't blame them, the trial of one of my mate's friends had happened earlier that day and now I was arriving on the back of a stranger.
I would say that people would have plenty of gossip to gossip about this week.
When the mansion could already be seen in our range of view Rafael became restless no matter how much I tried to comfort him, and how could he not be since the closer we got the more the image of my parents along with my three brothers standing at the entrance waiting for us could be clearly seen.
The amused spark that had left my conversation with Logan disappeared from the air giving way to a rigid sensation.
Finally when we were only a few feet apart Logan stepped forward, bowed low and disappeared in another direction in a hurry, I got the feeling he was running away.
-Well, our daughter left a little over two hours ago to look for her brother and came back with two rouges. That's something that doesn't happen every day. My dad commented and his eyes looked at me harshly for being mounted on my mate. Rafael grunted a little but gave a slight bow, then bent down enough for me to get off, which I did as calmly as I could muster while standing next to him.
-Mom, Dad, this is Rafael and he's my mate. I stated with conviction.
-That's what we assumed, and I think there's a good story why every time my daughter meets her life partner she comes home covered in blood and wounded. Said my mom and only then did I remember that insignificant detail.
-There were some complications, but nothing we couldn't handle," I glanced at my mother and she smiled a pleased half-smile, "Complications that I would love to discuss with you inside the house if it's not too much trouble, mom. I asked with a respectful but direct tone.
-My daughter is right, these matters have to be discussed in private, please, come into the house. Dad said and Rafael took advantage of that moment to return to his human form.
Standing next to me, he was perhaps a couple of centimeters taller than my brothers. I saw the interest sparkle in my family's eyes as they analyzed my mate, and through the bond I sensed their discomfort to which I unconsciously growled in warning.
Jace, took a step forward blocking mom's surprised gaze and dad's arched eyebrows at me, in his hands he carried a couple of changes of clothes, I recognized a gray dress he wore to be at home along with set of underwear, he also wore dark blue denim pants with an army green t-shirt that matched my mate's eyes.
I thanked my brother as I took the clothes and put them on quickly, Rafael also did it slower than me, as if wearing clothes was something he was not very used to as he stumbled when he was putting on the pants.
Once dressed my parents entered the house and my brothers made way for us to go first, I watched their faces to try to get an idea of our parents' moods but the reactions were very different.
Jackson was analyzing us as if he was waiting for us to jump out and attack him at the drop of a hat. Julian had curiosity written in every gesture he made and Jace was calmly ignoring the presence of my mate.
I watched Raphael out of the corner of my eye as we walked in the direction of my parents' office, though his countenance revealed nothing, his eyes were moving in every direction trying to take in the enormity of my home. I moved closer to his side and intertwined his hand with mine. He gave me a squeeze and smiled gratefully, a smile I returned with a wink. One of my brothers growled causing my partner to lose his smile and turn to look at him in annoyance.
Rafael bared his fangs with a low hiss before returning his attention to the road, I heard someone snort while another chuckled under his breath, which improved my mood a little.
We finally arrived at the office, where my father sat behind the desk while I leaned against the edge of it, he gestured with his chin to the two chairs in front of us and my mate and I sat in them without letting go of each other's hands. He tried to let go of mine but I clung to feel his touch with me.
I needed courage and support for this conversation.
He understood because he didn't try to pull us apart again, I almost sighed in relief at that.
Almost.
Mom cleared her throat and looked at me for answers while Dad frowned and looked at Rafael with discomfort.
Male thing, don't listen to them, better tell me what happened.
I nodded, swallowed saliva and through the link I gave him a brief summary and projected images of what happened. Meanwhile the testosterone flooded the environment while my mate and my father measured each other's eyes, oblivious to the information shared between my mom and me. When I finished I mentally counted almost exactly forty seconds before someone said something.
-I see, so that's what happened," Mom said and her mercury eyes ran from end to end over Rafael's body, who looked more uncomfortable under that scrutiny than under my father's. "Well Rafael, you are very lucky that you were not involved in any of the attacks on my daughter, you were also smart enough to protect her and I thank you for that. She finished impassive and my dad turned to look at her with his eyes almost popping out of their sockets.
Yeah well I was amazed too, did my mother really say that, the werewolf with the most developed killer instinct in the world?
-What are you talking about Rae, what happened? Dad asked irritated as he exchanged glances between Mom and Raphael.
Mom surprised me again as she rolled her eyes and looked at him with an arched eyebrow.
-You would have known if you had bothered to ask instead of murdering your daughter's partner with your eyes. I reproached him and Dad gave him puppy dog eyes and then gave my mate another ugly look.
I clear my throat to get Rafael's attention.
-Rafael, I think first of all I want to introduce you to my family, these are my parents Rae and Jason, former Alphas of the Golden Moon and Silver Moon packs, current Alphas of Starry NightMoon- Mom crosses her arms while smiling and dad just snorts again- My older brothers are Jackson- The mentioned mimics my mother's pose and does nothing else- Julian his twin- My brother greets him quietly and my mate returns the greeting- And my twin brother Jace- I point at him and he makes a grimace of recognition. I swallow and take a deep breath.
-It's a pleasure to meet you. Rafael speaks for the first time with a hoarse and tense voice.
We'll see if he says the same after we leave this room.
Jace said to me over the link and I gave him a warning look.
-Family, this is Raphael my mate. I stated firmly and the wood of Dad's desk creaked under the pressure of his fingers.
That was the only sign that everyone heard me, since not even the crickets dared to sound at that moment.
-Well Rafael, I already know my daughter's version, but I would like to know why your friends attacked her on two different occasions, and being Juliet's mate I am going to warn you that your answer depends on your future and that of your companions in this pack- Mom's calm gesture changed to a deadly one and her smile cut sharper than a knife while her eyes changed to those of her wolf- So I recommend you to choose your words carefully, we are not known for our patience-.
With that last sentence his power echoed through the room and I momentarily lost my breath, while my mate only shrank back a little in his seat before returning to his original pose with his eyes glowing with determination. What a curious mate I touched you sis.
Julian said in my head, intrigue and wonder in his tone.
Not even Bella his mate or her father Noel the Beta de papa could help but recoil or show submission at the shock of his magic.
But Raphael handled it very well.
Too well I would say.
My attention remained focused on the gleam in his green eyes.
Curious, you're right, it's curious brother, and it's all mine.
My brother laughed at the link and a proud smile tugged at my lips.
This would be interesting.
