One particular vampire was standing near a group of warriors who were trying to control him without any success due to a long silver whip that he did not hesitate to brandish in all directions.

I returned to my human form to make myself a more difficult target, I ran between the warriors while yelling at them through the bond to step aside, I jumped as the vampire became aware of my presence, the whip moved mercilessly towards my throat and I had to leave myself completely to avoid, I immediately circled around to avoid a second strike and stood up. I pulled my claws out and snarled at him with my fangs out, a gesture he returned as he fiddled with the weapon.

-Go with the others," I shouted to those around us, "I'll take care of this one," I assured him as I spun around measuring his strength.

-Do you think you can beat me bitch?" he said releasing a whip that cut a thin line on my right arm, "Why don't I better teach you a couple of tricks, ready, sit down" and the whip cracked again making me duck and turn in a movement that seemed too much like a pirouette.

I barked at him in irritation at his little joke and his hostile laughter full of pride in himself.

-My turn. I warned him before throwing small stones that I had picked up in my defensive maneuver.

I aimed straight at his face so he had to turn sharply to avoid it, I threw two more to disorient him as he advanced and finally the last one hit his leg making him scream in pain as it had gone through it. -F*****g bitch. He said and began to give frantic attacks of which I just dodged the best I could.

While he thought he was driving me back by the occasional cuts that appeared on my skin I was only a few meters away from getting him to the point he wanted, a tree finally crossed my path and due to an oversight of the bloodsucker the whip got caught between the branches.

Before he could realize that he had fallen into my trap I approached him and stuck my claws in his throat, I ripped his windpipe causing him to lose blood at an alarming rate, not satisfied with that I gave an upward kick followed by a spinning one that ended up completely separating his head from his body.

I took a couple of deep breaths before a scream caught my attention.

A boy no more than ten years old was being bitten by one of those damn leeches while crying and screaming for help.

I ran in his direction at all the speed I could and tackled him using excessive force, I grabbed both parts of the vampire's jaw to free the child who soon broke away as much as he could. The bloodsucker stuck his elbow in my stomach leaving me momentarily out of breath, I took the opportunity to break free mostly from my grip, but I entangled my legs with his so he couldn't run away, which ended up in us rolling several times on the floor in an attempt to stay on top of each other while we shared punches and bites. A blow that left me seeing colored dots caused my opponent to gain the upper hand by positioning himself on top of me, he began to choke me without caring that my claws were wreaking havoc with as much skin as he could replace in my path. My chest was burning with the need to breathe and I was replaceing it harder and harder to concentrate with my head about to explode from the pain. Just then the leech howled in pain weakening its grip on my neck, I removed its hands from my body and dug my claws deep into its stomach tearing it from inside from that point to its chest, where I embedded my hands in search of its heart and exploded it between my fingers.

The guy's corpse fell on top of me and I had to push him off me in order to sit up while I recovered my breath and cleaned some of the blood that covered my face.

I inhaled with difficulty while I watched the same boy trembling with fear a few meters away from me, he was holding a thick branch that was dented at the top and that seemed to be the weapon with which he had attacked the vampire to distract him and kill him. -Thank you," I said to the puppy in a hoarse voice, he nodded, dropped the branch and ran off in the direction of the nearest trees where he didn't hesitate to hide.

When I would attack he would pull back, when I would pull back he would fit me. We were a perfect team, and I understood my mother when she told me that there was a certain beauty in a battle.

But it was just as we were about to wipe out all the vampires that a howl of pain such as I had never heard before echoed throughout the valley and paralyzed me.

Rafael asked me worried, but I could only look in the direction where the sound had come from.

I ran with Rafael at my heels at all the speed I was capable of, the closer I got, the ground under my feet stopped being soft and became sticky from the amount of blood from the bodies that were lying everywhere.

Dozens of our own and dozens of the vampires were lying like lifeless dolls, the smell of death reeked in the air, and I felt my heart in my throat as my heartbeat hammered in my ears.

I finally made it to where my mom was, and my stomach rose in my throat as I watched my mother's body being cradled by my father as he pressed a giant wound into her belly.

Dannia was close to them in her wolf form, especially in tearing what was left of the one she assumed was responsible for my mother's state, on the other side Tasia was crying while Noel hugged her comforting her.

I took my human form immediately and dropped to my knees next to my father.

-She's not healing," I spoke with desperation while the mercury blood kept coming out, "Why isn't she healing," I asked in panic.

-She was pierced by a sword of iron, gold and silver," a nightmarish look darkened my father's eyes, "Someone knew what weapon to use.

-But how did they get close enough to use it in the first place? My voice came out hoarse as I tried to hold back my tears.
