But as is often the case, the children came back, screaming and running around us. It's my turn to smile, definitely, everything is very different from that time when I could make love to him whenever we felt like it.

- Yes, the joy of being a parent, she said, laughing a little more.

We accompany them into the living room and play a board game. I'm keeping the link with Jason open, I don't want to risk missing anything because although he's been watching me since this famous episode, I wouldn't hesitate to go and lend him a hand if

necessary.

Yohan's POV

When plan A doesn't work, there's always a plan B. In their files, I found enough information to know where I might replace what I want. Although I don't understand this strange trio, I understand that she is the weak link between the three of them. They left against medical advice only to join her, to replace her. As I told her sister, since the time she disappeared from circulation while she is the companion of two Wolves, there is a chance that there are already several children, so they will be more fragile. Even if they are on the defensive, two Wolves will have difficulty defending so many people, especially since their kid has probably not yet met their Wolf.

Dorian's pack has fallen, there is nothing left of it so I am left with Jason's pack. I'm going to replace them and I'm going to happily kill them. Maybe I'd even kill the kids first. I'm not sure yet and I have time to think about it. The more I advance, the more I learn about them.

Dorian lived somewhat alone among humans while Jason was a Beta and she worked in a large company. I have the impression that they have gone to isolate themselves, so that no one can replace them. With the abilities and knowledge of the two Wolves, it is possible. Moreover, even if she is only human, she may not be stupid.

I shouldn't be too confident, even if I know that Dorian is diminished, he remains Dorian, one of the greatest warriors of our time. Ruthless, blindly following his Alpha's orders. He is more cunning than many Wolves, stronger than dozens combined. He remains a threat and to ensure I get him I have to at least get my hands on this Jason or their girl, see their kids. I come back to them, inexorably, I'm not in the habit of killing kids although it doesn't bother me as long as I'm paid and I know that parents don't move when their offspring are threatened.

I know where to go and my steps take me there while my thoughts continue to focus on them. I rarely have such a challenge. But this one is big and I can't wait to take it on. The adrenaline keeps flowing, giving me energy that will eventually die down when it's all over, but for now, all I can think of is replaceing them.

I arrive at the pack when night has already fallen. It is already more populated than the previous one. A young Wolf comes to welcome me before I even cross her border.

- However, I have not received any message from my Alpha informing me of the visit of a foreign Wolf, she said, standing in front of me.

The atmosphere is also different, so there is a real Alpha here, an Alpha with a security system, guards and probably traps everywhere.

- Indeed, I was not invited. I didn't announce myself any more. I'm investigating and my research led me here. I would like to meet your Alpha.

I see her tense up quickly, he speaks to her, he felt me. It definitely has nothing to do with the kid I met earlier who was incapable of feeling the pain of one of the last members of his pack.

"Follow me," she said, turning around. I advise you to follow in my footsteps.

She therefore confirms to me that there are traps everywhere. Looking quickly around me, I see barely visible threads, even tiny traces that a trained eye can see without the slightest difficulty. I do not stray from the path she traces before me. There are a lot of Wolves here, a lot of homes that must contain families. I don't know who took over the leadership of this pack but he did well to have such a population under his command.

It takes us a few minutes to arrive at the center of the pack, opposite a large house which houses the Alpha. She leads me to the inside of this house and after a long corridor, she stops in front of a door and even before knocking, a deep voice invites us to enter.

This Wolf is older, stronger than the previous one, he has the presence of a true Alpha. With a look, he makes young Louve understand to leave us alone, which she does without hesitation. She therefore does not fear for the safety of her Alpha. - Sorry for arriving unannounced, I said without taking my eyes off him.

- We only have a few outside wolves that come to us and even fewer lone wolves. Especially at such a late hour, he replies, sinking a little deeper into his chair before making me understand to do the same with a wave of his hand.

I sit down and observe this office where all the important decisions of the pack must be made. I feel that he is suspicious of me. Let him wonder why a Lone Wolf appears like this.

- I won't bother you for long. I am looking for two Wolves, one of whom lived in this pack.

-And I'm supposed to give information about Wolves in my pack? Like that, for fun?

- Let's say that these Wolves are a little special. They both killed their respective Alphas.

I see him tense up for a short moment. Without even saying their names, he already knows who I'm talking about. His gaze, already almost black, darkens a little more as he begins to understand what I am.

- A bounty hunter, he said between his teeth. And obviously, a bounty hunter who is not afraid to get his hands dirty in view of the still fresh smell of blood that I can smell, he continues, inhaling deeply.

- I'm not sure bounty hunter is the right term for me. Let's just say I offer my services to the highest bidder.

-And anyone is crazy enough to pay to replace Dorian and Jason? That's not a good idea, really not.

-And yet,

He gets up and goes to open a cupboard from which he takes out two glasses and a bottle. He serves us and offers me a glass before downing his in one go and taking another. He settles back down, sighing, before telling me,

"Everyone here would like to forget this story," he begins. A Beta killing its Alpha is unnatural and it marks a pack for a long time. Of course at that time, I wasn't in this position actually, I wasn't even in this pack, I lived in the one where Dorian was born. I didn't expect that, I must say that it's a big surprise and yet, it's lucky for me.

- I didn't think I would lead this pack one day but in the end, without them, I wouldn't be here.

- Does anyone know where they went?

- Far very far. I don't know the location but Wolves led an assault to kill them, to avenge their Alpha and none came back. They made sure that no one could reveal their position.

- Clever, nevertheless so many Wolves could not have left like this without saying where they were going. They may not have come back but there must be traces.

I see him grimace, he hesitates to give me all the information he has.

- There were certainly traces indeed but it was a long time ago and as I said we would all like to forget this story.

-I understand, however I would like to insist.

- There are still documents from my predecessor. There might be something in it, he said, finishing his drink. I never tried to replace out what had become of them.

- Thank you, I said, drinking too.

- But I persist, it's a bad idea. They may be a strange couple with this human but they found each other well, each filling the weaknesses of the other. They are strong enough to have killed dozens of Wolves. There are things that should not be awakened. Which should not be provoked. They are part of it.

I look at him carefully, despite his position, I feel that he fears them or respects them, I'm not really sure. However, in my eyes it doesn't change anything, on the contrary I am more and more eager to come face to face with them.

He gets up and goes to open another cupboard from which he takes out a cardboard box which he places on his desk.

- Dorian is not a Wolf like the others. I don't care if he dies or not but I know he's a warrior and he won't let himself be approached easily. Especially if he has a family to defend. He won't lose a second one.

I don't know if this is a warning and either way I don't care. I knew the risks in accepting this contract and that's also why I took it.

I start to open the box before rummaging through what's inside. If I don't replace anything it will become more difficult but I am sure of myself, there must be a trace of this expedition.

Jason's POV

The sun is starting to set when I finally catch up with it. At the very moment he dares to set a paw on our territory. Immediately my Wolf growls before letting out a deep howl. This is an intrusion, an unforgivable intrusion. I rush towards this Wolf who doesn't seem very old and give him a big slap with my paw, sending him flying against a tree.

He gets up quickly and just by his look, I can see he's panicking. I don't understand. He came here when he smelled us. He has crossed the barriers of our territory and yet he seems to fear the worst. Quickly, I wonder if I wasn't a little too hasty in my conclusions. After all, he may just be lost or he may just be a Wolf who needs help.

Bearing, my Wolf continues to growl and gets back into position to launch a new attack. I don't know who he is, but he should never have come here. And as I rush forward, as I am on the verge of giving him another blow, he closes his eyes before returning to his human form. I stop just a few inches from him. He's a kid, a kid barely twenty years old and yet. A simple kid who is afraid of me.
