A Kiss For Your Freedom -
Chapter 83
Emma's POV
I thought I would have more time to continue to do my best with Antoine but he arrives and he will primarily attack me and the children to make sure Dorian doesn't fight. I take a deep breath before thinking quickly. If I leave this young Wolf like that, I won't give much of his skin but if I take care of him, then the children are without protection.
I drop the needle and go to get some sheets from my room. In a few seconds, I am back next to him and try as best I can to swaddle him in order to compress these wounds.
- I am very sorry. He's coming, I say as Antoine screams in pain. You're going to have to hold on. Hopefully, Dorian will sort this out quickly.
I tie both ends of the sheets into a knot and pull as tight as I can making him scream a little more.
- I'll take you to the children's room. It's not ideal but for the moment, it's the only solution I have.
With my help, he gets back on his feet. The sheet is already turning red. I blame myself for doing this. Little ones shouldn't see this, I know that but I have no choice.
- Melissa, open the door sweetie, dad's friend is going to stay with you.
She opens to let us in. Julien is in a corner of the room in tears. I would like to hold him and reassure him, but I don't have time. He'll be here any second. I place him on the bed and rush to Melissa.
- My darling, I know this is very difficult for both of you. You're doing very well, I said, motioning to Juten to come join us. I'm so proud of you both, I said, smiling at them. Unfortunately it's not over. I want you both to put everything you can behind the door as soon as I'm gone. Your dads will arrive soon but in the meantime, no matter what you hear, you two have to stay here, locked up.
Tears appear in Melissa's eyes. I quickly pull them against me and kiss them both.
-You understand correctly, I said softly.
- Yes, mom, they answer again.
I leave the room and immediately I hear scraping noises against the floor, they do as I asked them. My heart is beating wildly. I will fight to the end, as long as Dorian is there in time to save the children. I arrive in the living room at the same moment when the door shatters.
At the moment, I am surprised to see in his human form, I thought he would have thrown his Wolf at me but instead, he smiles when he sees the dagger in my hand.
- So you plan to defend yourself,
I tighten the dagger in my hand, he won't pass, it's out of the question. I have to buy time even if I'm not able to kill him myself.
- You surprise me that I'm going to defend myself. It's not like you're the first Wolf I've ever had to fac
- I grant you that you are resistant given the attacks you have already suffered in the past, but your luck has just changed. I can't wait to see your precious Wolf when he understands that he is going to lose his great love for the second time in his life. He moves forward and goes around the table, passing his fingers over it and bringing them to his lips.
- The kid is still alive, he said, smiling a little more. Well for now.
I quickly glance out the window hoping to see Dorian and Jason but nothing. Nothing at all. I inhale deeply, planting my feet into the ground. I can see by the sparkle in those eyes that he likes what he's playing, the way he makes me step back as he tries to get closer to me.
This guy is a weirdo, my sister really found that one. Julien's sobs reach me, I tense up a little more, he must have heard it too. It is now that everything will be decided. He lunges and transforms in mid-sault. I'm not surprised, I don't tremble, on the contrary, I take out a stake that I had kept on my belt and position myself, ready to receive it.
I've been with Wolves for so many years that I know exactly how they work, how they position themselves, how they attack. The boys prepared me for this, for this moment even though we all hoped it would never come to any use. I shift slightly as he lands on the ground and plunge my blade in as soon as I can with as much force as I can.
He growls in anger more than in pain and sends me flying into the air with a big swipe of his paw. My back hits the wall making me scream as my breath catches in my chest. The taste of blood spreads in my mouth. I hear him move, he is too close to the children, I have to get up, which I manage to do with difficulty.
These fangs are revealed, just waiting to sink into my skin. Julien cries harder, hearing me only makes him panic a little more. I see him turn in the direction of their room but before he takes a step, I grab a chair and throw it at him. I have to divert his attention, make him focus on me.
He growls a little louder as he focuses on me. It's between him and me, I may not be a Wolf, but I am a mother and I would do anything to protect them. Dorian's POV
If I enter the door, this bounty hunter will be in a position of strength, he is facing Emma and with the state Jason is in, I would replace myself cornered with an impossible choice to make. I only have one option left, the room. I lead Jason over to the children's window, I know the shutters are closed but I would have no trouble forcing them open.
"Go f*****g save them," Jason manages to say, sliding down the wall.
I pull on the wood with all my strength. The boards give way, one by one before I reach the window. I see Melissa and Julien, against each other facing a pile of objects blocking the door and it is at that moment that a new wave of pain arrives and this time, it does not come from Jason,
The anger is stronger than the rest, I explode the window and bring Jason in as best as I can. Antoine is lying on the bed, still conscious.
- Dads, the children shout, between joy to see us again and concern about Jason's state.
- It's going to be okay, children, it's going to be okay. You three have to stay there, I'm going to help mom.
- She screamed, said Melissa in tears.
- I know, sweetie, I know. But never forget that your mom is a warrior. It's going to be okay, I promise, I said, trying to be as reassuring as possible.
I quickly clear everything in front of the door and leave the room as quickly as I can. I arrive in the living room and replace Emma standing, leaning against the wall, out of breath while she still holds the dagger in her hands, squeezing it with all her strength. He growls at her, is ready to jump to attack her but my Wolf reveals himself and it's me who attacks first.
He's surprised, he probably didn't think I'd come from behind but I don't care about the rules when it comes to fighting, what matters is winning. Emma takes the opportunity to try to move but she falls to the ground unable to stand.
I look at my wife's body lying there, blood running down her lips and down her arms. He definitely didn't spare it, he absolutely wants to take everything from me. My Wolf roared with all his might before lunging at our opponent.
He turns around just as my fangs close and manages to dodge my blow. He tries to attack me in turn but I give him a blow with my paw which makes him step back even though I managed to cut his mouth. He growls while shaking his head, Emma emits a sound that catches my attention for a short second, but a second enough for him to attack in turn and hit me, breaking one of my ribs in the process.
If he thinks that's what he's going to do to slow me down, he's wrong. I've seen more and I won't give up, not now when I'm the only one of us three who can still stand. I immediately stand up and rush towards him. Our bodies collide, our mouths snap, hairs fly as some of our blows hit the other.
He's strong, it's true and it's been a while since I trained seriously, but I have a good reason to fight and I manage to destabilize him while my claws dig into his side. I put all my strength into pushing him away and eventually succeeded in making him fall. He's tough and although he starts to bleed profusely, he gets up but instead of attacking me, he turns towards the children's room and rushes in that direction.
So that's out of the question. I accelerate, making the furniture fly as I go. The corridor is not very wide for Wolves of our size, we bump into the walls but I gain ground and manage to catch up with him as he arrives in front of the bedroom door. I draw on my strength, driven by my need to protect them, to protect them all, and I crash into him, sending him flying further, landing in front of our room.
I growl at him, climb on his prone body with all my weight. Its mouth tries to bite me, to attack me but I give it a big paw, stunning it. He attacked mine, my family, my children, the two great loves of my life. All my rage explodes. My claws fall on him, tearing his skin, his flesh.
He grunts, screams in pain at the same time as his blood spills onto the ground. My mouth dives on him, sinking into these flesh, tearing off pieces that I spit onto the ground. He continues to scream,
My Wolf lets go, tears it, attacks these limbs to pull on them, to crush them. The sound of those bones breaking so delectable that I forget everything else, at least for a moment. I want him to die, to suffer, to pay for what he has just inflicted on us.
