Chapter 103

Angela's POV

I was left in the basement for a few hours all alone. I'd never been so scared of anyone the way I was scared of Ryker. The word 'scared' couldn't seem to describe just how I felt. Maybe petrified could capture it. He asked me what I was useful for and I didn't replace the right answer for him.

I kept my mouth shut and watched as he walked away, some of his men behind him. I didn't know why I didn't cry. Maybe I was too scared to cry or I was too tired to cry.

My heart went to Reina. She had asked me not to leave but I did. I hope she would be able to forgive me for not listening to her. My poor baby! She would be all alone wondering where her mama went.

I picked up the bottle of water left in the basement and contemplated drinking it. As I brought it to my lips, the thought of it being poisoned crossed my mind and I had no choice but to throw it across the room.

The basement door opened again and two hefty men walked into the room. I panicked.

"What's going on?" I asked as they both walked towards me. No one answered my question. Instead, they gripped me by my arms and dragged me out of the room.

"Where are you taking me to?" I asked and no one gave a response again.

"Help me! Somebody help me!" I screamed. One of them looked back at me with a glare that was so scary I sealed my mouth shut.

I couldn't even look around the house I was being dragged through. It was almost empty but it was a majestic mansion.

A new room was opened and I was thrown into it. Before I could get up from the floor, I heard the door being locked from outside. I stood up with a limp and began hitting the door, hoping someone would be kind enough to open the door.

After several minutes of knocking, I gave up and sat on the floor. I took a better look at the room. There was a small bed that could barely accommodate one person. A table and chair by the corner. A blurry mirror and a bathroom. I walked closer to the window to see if it wa Fortunately, it wasn't. I was so happy as I unlatched the window pane open. I was finally going to escape. To my shock, as I looked down, fear gripped me. I was probably on the third or fourth floor of the building. If I tried escaping, I wouldn't leave here alive. I crumbled back to the floor and took a deep breath. Losing hope so early wouldn't help.

The door was thrown opened and a woman came inside. One of the hefty men from earlier looked into the room till he saw me.

"Get her ready as quickly as you can. No need for unnecessary gossip. If I hear any word from either of you, I'll throw you out through that fucking window, understand?" The lady nodded and I muttered a yes.

The woman was holding a pile of clothes in her hands. She smiled at me as soon as our eyes met.

"What's that?" I asked quietly, still scared of the threat from the bastard.

"Clothes. I am to get you ready."

"For what?"

She dropped the clothes on the bed.

"Dinner with the King,"

"Rogue King, you mean,"

She smirked. "Don't get yourself killed, sweet cheeks. Everyone around here calls him King. Even if we don't want to,"

I swallowed hard then nodded.

"Okay,"

"Good. Now, get dressed before that bastard come barging at this door,"

I shook my head. I would rather eat sand than eat with him.

"Why are you here?" The woman asked.

"I was kidnapped. I'm being held hostage,"

"Of course, I know that. I mean who are you? You must be very important For Ryker to hold you hostage,"

I didn't know if I could trust this stranger. "He wants to take over our pack. If my mate stepped down for him, he would return me to him and if not..." I paused. "I'm dead," "Who's your mate?"

""Darius Darkwood,"

Something flashed across her eyes that I didn't recognize. I'm sure it was a surprise.

"That's one hell of a man. I've heard so much about him. I'm sure he's making plans to bring you out of here alive,"

I nodded. "Same here,"

I had every hope in Darius. I trusted him with my life.

"Now, wear this dress even if you don't want to. Keep yourself alive till your mate gets you out of this hellhole," Reluctantly, I stood up and collected the dress from her. It wasn't all that bad and it was a blue midi dinner dress. I hated the dress.

"Do you work here?" I asked her as I changed into my dress.

"Yes! For over a year now. Even though he has the shittiest attitude, he pays us better than any other pack."

"He treats you okay" I asked rhetorically.

After working like a horse for the past five years, I knew the difference between good pay and good boss perfectly well. The pay might be good but your mental health wouldn't be. The pay might be small but you'll be at the happiest moment of your life. Sometimes, you're l "He treats us better than animals. You don't want to know the details about that. Now, you look..." she paused. "Blue isn't your colour,"

Her honesty brought a small smile to my face. "It ain't. I hate it,"

She knocked on the door once she presumed I was ready or presentable. The hefty man opened the door and took another look at me. "She's ready,"

He walked into the room and grabbed my arm. I looked back at the nice lady. She had a sad smile on her face. I didn't even know her name.

"I can walk on my own," I protested but it fell on deaf ear. He was holding my arm so tightly I could feel my blood not circulating to that side. I was in pain from how hard he was holding me. Something dark flashed across my thoughts and I gritted my teeth. "I SAID I COULD FUCKING WALK ON MY OWN!"

I growled.

He suddenly stopped and turned to me. He opened his mouth to say something but he stopped. I could see fear flash through his eyes for a second.

He cleared his throat. "Walk then," he asked in a particularly quiet tone.

His sudden change in attitude was confusing for a moment before it became clear. They were

and I was a werewolf, the better version of who they were. No matter how horrible my state was, I still had an advantage above them.

We stopped in front of a large door. It suddenly opened, almost hitting me in the face. I glared at

the man who opened the door and he turned away.

"Ah. I'm glad you could join me, Darius' mate,"

Ryker scared me. There was nothing more scary than sitting and dining with that son of a devil. I'd read about him. Rumours, truth and they did nothing but build a stupid fear in me.

#You have nothing to be scared of Angela#

#I do. He's a devil#

*You and Darius are mates. There's a bit of him inside of you and a whole of you waiting for you to come through. He's just Ryker. If you aren't scared of Darius, why should you be scared of the man who's scared of Darius,# #You don't und...#

My eyes suddenly flashed opened, making me realise my eyes had been closed. I also realized I wasn't talking to myself. I was talking to something or someone.

Ryker looked at me with a raised eyebrow but I was more concerned about what I was talking to.

##Its been a long time, Angela. Did you miss me?##

The voice asked again.

Shit! Shit! Shit! It was My wolf.

My wolf was back.
