Chapter 118

Jace looked at Sage through the lens of his camera. She was ravishing. Although he could only seeher side, she possessed a soul capturing aura.

Hunter and Leah could not stand sitting in the car anymore. They had planned to assist her not for asecond thinking that she would be able to handle everything on her own.

Leah's heart could not stop thudding as she rode the high that came along with witnessing Sagehandle the situation. “That's my Sage,” she thought as she watched.

Leah wondered when would the day that she was more like Sage come.

“Are you done?” asked Sage as she tumed to look at Jace. “I'm all done here,” nodded Jace.

He could not understand why he was being so obedient, and Sage did not seem too surprised byhis sudden appearance.

As he stored his phone, Jace went through the mixed feelings he had. He had come with theintention of saving Sage. He had imagined her to be like a character in a soap opera. Upon replaceingherself to be in danger, she should be hopelessly yelling, “Save m e, Jace!” and he should havebravely strode in front of her, saying, “Don’t worry. I'm here.”

Alas, that did not happen.

The reality was that the damsel had not exactly been in distress. She had been able to single-handedly take down all the men. He merely played the part of a bystander, watching the sceneunfold. At least he was able to get a video.

Sage could not be bothered by Jace's feelings. She sent the video that he had taken to Hunter. Then, she ordered Mr. K to take the hijackers to the cops, and he was to make a pitstop at thehospital while he was at it, so that they could stop the bleeding.

"Wow, Sage, you are amazing!” Leah threw herself at Sage, proudly looking at her heroic cousin.Sage smiled and caressed Leah's face lovingly, “Were you traumatized?”

Leah shook her head, then nodded lightly, “Just a little, but I'm not too worried with you and Hunterhere to protect me.”

“Let's all head home,” said Sage, as she tumed to Jace and asked, “Are you coming with me?”Though taken aback by surprise, Jace was delighted upon hearing Sage’s question. In disbelief, Jacepointed at himself and said,” You want me to go home with you?”

“I'm asking that guy behind you,” said Sage as she looked up lazily.

Jace felt a cool breeze from behind him. He instinctively dodged the punch that was coming right athim. Jace clenched his fists, and the two men began fighting.

Both of them saw the hostility in each other's eyes as they fought.

They fought hard, and only the dull sounds of flesh hitting flesh could be heard.

Leah was stunned, she asked Sage, “What is going on?”

“They are probably fighting out of boredom,” Sage said as she observed them. She could not helpbut stare at Jace. She had not seen him fight like this in a long time.

With his suit and leather shoes, she had almost forgotten that he had been in the special forcesMemories drew her back to a decade ago. The man who saved her from danger and fought side byside with her... Sage’s heart skipped a beat and grew soft. Something dead inside her roared to lifeonce more.
