A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 120
Chapter 120
How could Sage tell him that this was none of his business?
Jace felt as if Sage had plunged a sword through his chest, piercing his heart, shattering it into amillion pieces.
He suppressed his anger, pretended to be calm, and asked her, “Who is this guy? Your ex-lover?”Why were there so many men in her life? She just had dinner with Luther, and now, she washugging another man...
Sage felt a prick on her temples.
Was Jace questioning her? On what terms?
Sage found Jace to be unreasonably ridiculous. He had never failed to anger her the moment shefelt herself softening toward him. This was his strongest suit.
“Not everyone is like you, Jace,” Sage said. “My love life is not as interesting as yours.”
“You don’t need to know who he is. He's someone I know, and you don't need to know anythingmore.”
She grabbed Kane by the waist and said, “Let's go.”
Kane tried hard to contain his laughter. He was impressed by how Sage was able to defend herselfwithout resorting to foul language.
Sage paused for a moment, turned to Jace, and said, “Oh, yes, I nearly forgot. Please do not haveyour people follow me around. That includes yourself.”
She had known all along that Jace had been keeping her safe. She felt that all of this wasunnecessary, not that she was not grateful
Where was he, when she had most needed him?
Sage took Kane's phone and began to browse through it as soon as they had gotten into the car. What are you looking at? There's a lot of indecent material on my phone. Don't say I didn't wam ya,”Kane mocked.
Sage ignored his warning and focused on investigating the culprit behind the incident.
There were only a handful of people who knew about the shortcut back to Rosa Garden
Someone must have told Brody Liam about it so he could organize the ambush.
There was only one person in the entire family who was related to Brody, and they wanted her dead.“Bingo,” Sage muttered when she saw the caller ID on the contact list. It was her cousin Yeva whohad sent Brody the map that detailed the secret route. The IP address traced back to Brody's home. That scheming cousin of hers needed to be stopped.
"Got it?" Kane asked as he tilted his head to get a better look at the screen. He was not tech savvylike Luther.
Sage responded lightly, “Mm-hmm." She leaned back into her seat and retumed his phone. Kaneleaned toward Sage and said, “I'll lend you my shoulder if you want?”
Sage closed her eyes and rested her head on his shoulders without saying a word. She clutched hisarms, just like they were as kids. Sage felt safe and secure as she uttered lightly, “Good to have youback, brother.”
