A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 123
Chapter 123
Sage's voice was clear as day, but to Yeva, it sounded like a thunderclap. She was terrified.
Yeva knew that Sage was never one to eat her words. “No! No! You cannot hit me-" Yeva gasped asshe shook her head vigorously from side to side. She fell from the bed and crawled toward the exit. She needed to leave, immediately.
Two bodyguards blocked her way as soon as she reached for the door. Without having to use muchstrength, they pushed her back into the room. Yeva fell onto the carpet.
The two bodyguards said solemnly, “Miss Sage, do we need to tie her up?”
Sage sat by the bed. She held up an antique ruler that she had given to Yeva as a gift. “Do you wantme to tie you up, or are you going to kneel and accept your punishment?”
Simply put, Yeva had to do what was told and quit her antics.
Yeva clenched her teeth. She knew she had to admit defeat this round. She could not be botheredwith trying to preserve her ego any longer. Yeva crawled toward Sage, “Sage, please have mercy onme. I was foolish and wrong. I promise I won't ever do it again!”
“That was quick,” Sage snickered. Her words held no emotion. “You're not foolish, you were justnever smart. I had shown you mercy on countless occasions, so why should I be merciful this time?”Sage lightly hit her with the ruler as she said that. It was not very painful, but it was enough to scarethe hell out of Yeva. She froze.
Yeva could not understand what had happened. They had a perfect game plan. How did Sageescape so effortlessly?
Which part of the plan had gone wrong?
Did she not use the secret lane?
Sage looked into Yeva's eyes and immediately guessed what was going through her mind. Sheasked, “Are you wondering how I escaped from Brody's hijackers?”
Seeing that Sage had just read her mind, Yeva stopped pretending, “Sage, did you not use thesecret lane?”
"I did,” replied Sage half-heartedly, “I got stopped halfway through.”
“Then what went wrong?” Yeva had unconsciously spoken the truth and quickly corrected herself, “Imean, how did you escape?”
Sage looked unfazed, “You really thought a few hooligans are capable of taking me down? Youthought too little of me.”
She took Yeva's phone and tapped the screen a few times. She found the video Jace had recordedof the hijackers all kneeling in a neat row. She even heard them giving Bordy away, then she sawthem timidly begging for mercy. She was dumbfounded.
How in the world had Sage managed it?
Yeva took a closer look at the video, and she saw that one of them had what appeared to be abroken arm. The rest of them had deep chest wounds. Blood seeped through their shirts.
