A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 139
Chapter 139
It has been years since Jace drove. He was driving as slow as a snail.
Sage did not make a sound, and she did not hurry him up. She knew how tough it was to drive onceagain for someone who was in a car accident
Just like her after her parent's deathly car accident. Not long after, Jace was involved in another caraccident. Sage was once so traumatized by cars that she sworn off them for a while.
She had witnessed every step of Jace's recovery after the accident. From only being able to lie downto sitting, kneeling, and finally standing. Every step was filled with buckets of blood, sweat, andtears
The tears of his loved ones, that was.
She'd never seen Jace cry even when he was experiencing immense pain post-surgeries. He musthave been swallowing his tearst o the heart.
“Don’t mind me driving slowly. I got to get used to it again,” Jace broke the silence in the car.
Sage said lightly after hearing his voice and said, “No rush. Just take your time.”
They were in complete silence again. Moments later, Jace said with a bitter laugh, “Life sometimesthrows us into a curveball. We just needed to be forced. Just a few minutes ago, I thought I wouldnever drive in this lifetime.”
Sage snapped at him, “I did not force you.”
Jace looked at her and said, “I was forcing myself. I should have offered to drive you anyways sincethis is our first date.”
Sage froze and looked at him.
"Date?" she asked.
Did he think they were on a date tonight?
“Yeah,” Jace smirked and continued, “I feel a little embarrassed having you treat me on our firstdate.”
Sage looked at this side profile and thought he didn’t look too embarrassed that day when heforced this dinner on her.
They finally arrived at Tasteful Restaurant. It was full as usual, and the restaurant looked extra cozy inthe evening compared to the day.
The streetlights warmed up the entire street. The al-fresco area had candles lit up at the tables. Theatmosphere was warm and cozy, and there was a faint scent of roses. It was romantic.
"Yoel told me this was your property?” Jace asked Sage casually as they walked into the restaurant.Sage acknowledged. Yoel had probably told Jace everything he knew about her.
They went to the private room upstairs. The manager brought a pot of tea as they sat down andrespectfully asked Sage, “Please have some tea. Can Chef Damian start preparing your dinner now?""Yes. Myles can start now,” Sage took the pot from the manager and poured one for Jace.
Jace thanked the manager as he wondered how Sage called the chef by his name. He teased Sage,“I can't believe you and the chef were on a first-name basis.” .
“It's just a name.” Sage sipped her tea and thought, this was nothing surprising. She had learnedvarious crafts from many different masters, and she was always the youngest in class. Sage thoughtto herself, Jace looked more like an elderly than she was looking at the way he sipped his tea.
