Chapter 190

Yeva should have been happy when her father mentioned her marriage to Julian. However, shecould not even force out a smile as she was reminded of Julian's attitude towards her lately.Braxton saw his daughter's expression and asked, “What's wrong Yeva? Something going onbetween you and Julian?”

Yeva sat by the bed, looking down, and in a wronged tone, “He cheated on me.”

“That son of a bitch! He has another girl?" asked Braxton furiously.

She smiled bitterly, not just another girl, he had at least three different girls that she knew of. Theexact amount, that she'll never know.

She could try to fix the relationship if he had one, or even two girls... but she can’t put up a fight ifshe doesn’t know who or how many she’s against. It would be useless.

As Braxton outwardlyt cursed him, Yeva explained to her dad, “He's just more playful than others. Hetreats me well... and he never mentioned breaking up with me. I'll always be the only Mrs.Jefferson.”

Braxton's furrowed brows eased up. Although he was mad, deep inside he knew it was not anythingtoo serious. He could not believe that his Yeva was more mature than he thought.

“That's right. I knew I can count on my daughter to be a reasonable little woman.” Braxton sighedwith relief and patted her hands a she comforted her, “Listen to me. Men are built differently fromwomen. For some women, you need to choose your husband carefully as you only get one chanceat having a good man.”

He then added, “For some men, it's totally common to have more than one woman. It's been likethat since the beginning of civilization! Just don't be like your mother. She insisted on divorcing me,and she ended up having no money and no men. She's pathetic. Promise me, please don't be likeyour mother.”

Yeva felt a huge discomfort at her dad's words and she snapped, “No, plenty of men are pursuingMom and that includes a college professor.”

"You're kidding, why would a college professor be interested in your mother?” Braxton said indisbelief and scoffed. Yeva looked at him seriously, she really did not seem to be joking. He lookeduneasy and said, “Even if that's true, he will never marry her. What's s o good about marrying an oldhag?”

Yeva pursed her lips and said, “Stop talking like that about my mother, I wouldn't hear it.”

"Alright, I'm done, I'm done.” Braxton conceded as he held onto his daughter's hands, “I just wantyou to grab the opportunity and not act stupid. You're my only daughter and I want you to have agood life. Marrying into the Jeffersons is a scarce opportunity!”

“I know that, of course. Marrying Julian is one of my biggest dreams, but...

Yeva said with an unconfident tone, “I don't think he likes me very much and if he still wants tomarry me. He's been seduced by that sly woman lately, and he even changed the passcode to hisapartment. I can't reach him.”

Braxton's face went dark upon hearing that.

"Don’t worry, it's not entirely up to Julian to decide who he marries. I'll go talk to his father in a fewdays. They had shares involved in my projects in Posie City, it's payback time.”

Yeva turned that frown into a smile. She nudged her dad with her arms and said, “Dad, please don'twait any longer, hurry up and set the date with Uncle Jefferson!” Braxton did not know how to reactto his impatient daughter.
