A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 25
Chapter 25
Sage had not been lying when she said that she was really busy.
After returning to Salem City, Sage had been drowned in her work as well as business gatherings. With work as an excuse, Sage had turned down invitations from the brothers of the Bennett family. She had disappointed them.
Tonight, she had to attend yet another business gathering.
The streets gradually began to glow with lights. Salem City was always the liveliest and busiest atnight. The streets were filled with couples leaning against each other as they held hands. Tonight, the city glowed with romance.
Leaning into the car seat, Sage stared quietly out of the car window.
A couple was sharing food at a food truck by the roadside. She fed her man, and he kissed her. Shesmiled sweetly at him, and then, hand in hand they moved on to the next food truck. Sage thoughtthat what they had was simple yet sweet.
All she had wanted was what they had.
Tomorrow would be his wedding. Sage had only rejected him because she did not know what to sayto him.
As his ex-wife and as someone who had loved him for many years, perhaps the best that she coulddo was to give him her whole hearted blessing. However, she was spiteful and unforgiving. Shecould not see him with someone else.
Play some music.”
Hunter Grant, her assistant who was in the passenger seat, tumed on the radio. An oldie wasplaying:
“If those two words hadn't trembled, I wouldn't have noticed that I was in pain. No matter how yousay it, it's just a breakup...”
As the song reached its climax, Sage closed her eyes.
“I didn’t know you ten years ago, you didn't belong to me, we are still the same, with a stranger byour side, walking through familiar streets, ten years later, we're still friends..."
The Jace she knew flashed through her mind. He was arrogant and confident, even when he was inpain, and the look of him soundlessly asleep by her side was forever engraved into her.
She had seen all sides of him, but there was one side she could not bring herself to remember. Itwas the side of him that only appeared when he was with the person he loved.
She had seen it once, and she remembered having her heart shattered into pieces.
Tomorrow would be the final chapter of her love story.
She had a dinner appointment at a Japanese restaurant. The restaurant was owned by a Japanesecouple, and she could see traces o f their culture all around their restaurant. Even the waitresseswere dressed in Japanese kimonos.
Sage went straight to a private room on the third floor with her assistant. She was meeting KyleYash, the managing director of Corsair Real Estate. They were going to discuss a project regarding apiece of land on the outskirts of Nadeem City.
When she entered the dining room, she saw that the person waiting for her was not Kyle Yash."Yoel Fulton,” Sage gasped, raising her brows.
Yoel was sitting by the window and his long legs stretched out before him.
Upon seeing Sage, Yoel got to his feet and said, “Miss Norah, it's a pleasure to meet you.”
“Am I in the wrong room?” Sage asked calmly.
"Nope."
Yoel grinned as he walked to the opposite end of the room. He pulled a chair for Sage and gesturedpolitely before saying, “Please, have a seat.”
Sage stood still, unmoving.
Hunter was about to reach for his phone when Yoel added, “There is no need for verification. I'm theone who is meeting you today. I wanted to work with you, so I got rid of Kyle.”
He sounded smug and arrogant.
"Director Sage..." said Hunter. He was about to call for her bodyguards so that they might escort herout of the restaurant.
Staring at Yoel who was confidently lounging in his chair, Sage had no plan of leaving. She wantedto know what Yoel had up his sleeves. After Sage sat down, Yoel snapped his fingers, and thewaitresses began serving the food.
