Jim did not answer Jace's questions, but he added, “So, you're the ex-husband, Jace.”

Jace was dumbfounded. “Who you calling Jace?” Sage walked over in time and patted Jim's back,“I'm not close to him,” and turned to Jace and said, “sorry, my kid is over-friendly with everyone.”Kid? Did she just refer to this young man as a kid?

Jace looked at Sage’s usual unfazed eyes in contrast to this young man’s friendly attitude, he felt anache in his heart and he looked down, “It's not a big deal.”

Silence filled the room. Zayne walked over and broke the awkward silence, “Mr. Jace, we have toleave now before it's getting too late.”

Hunter reminded Sage as well, “Miss Sage, we have to go too.” Jace huffed on his cigarette and letout a slight cough. Zayne immediately understood and looked at Sage with a smile, “Miss Sage,your car has been sent to the maintenance workshop, it'll take some time to get fixed. We'll be gladto send you back to the airport.”

Sage kept quiet. Hunter observed her face and forced out a formal smile and replied, “Thank youMr. Yuriel and Zayne for the invitation, but our car has arrived.”

Zayne looked in the direction Hunter pointed and he saw a bulletproof, heavy-duty off-road vehicleparked outside of the police station. Zayne thought to himself, “Isn't this a bit much?"

Jace looked at the vehicle and he was not surprised. Hunter thought it was perfectly normal to get acar like this and he regretted not getting it sooner. Otherwise, nothing would happen to their car,not to mention something so fragile like eggs and tomatoes.

“It's a great car,” Jace complimented and added, “thanks, Miss Sage.”

Sage was dumbstruck.

Jace threw the cigarette bud into the bin and went straight up into the car without her permission.Even Zayne was out of words at his boss's actions. Sage frowned hard and said with a cold tone,"Who let him up there?”

Zayne said hurriedly as he could sense Sage’s anger built up, “Miss Sage, my boss just got hit in thehead, he might still be in an unstable condition. Please don't get mad at him... Please send us to theairport since you're also on the way...”

Zayne could not spin further.

He just invited Sage to his car, and he now had to plead for her to send them. That was what he hadto do having a boss like Jace.

Just like that, Jace got into Sage’s car and refused to leave. They all continued their journey to theairport in the bulletproof vehicle. The interior of the car was spacious. Hunter and Zayne sat at theback of the car, while Jace, Jim, and Sage were seated in the front row.

Jim sat in between the ex-couple, he felt a little delicate about the seating situation. Jace finallybroke the silence in the car after a long time. He turned to Jim, “Young man, how old are you?”
