Chapter 395

When she stabbed the scissors on his lips, he bled.”

Jace did not cry or throw a tantrum. He just looked at Freya indifferently and said calmly, “Just killme. Since you both don’t love me, you shouldn't have given birth to me in the first place.”

His mother finally stopped. Then, she slapped him heavily, knocking him directly to the groundBefore he could recover from the excruciating pain, the scissors fell to the ground with a clatter. Hewatched as Freya jumped from the balcony on the third floor resolutely.

“I know. You're still blaming me for my divorce from your mother.”

Lucas's voice was low and calm. There was a hint of guilt in his emotions but no remorse. “I've beenthrough a lot with your mother. We have loved each other and hated each other. Maybe thestronger the love, the stronger the hate.” Lucas took a sip of tea and continued speaking. His voicesounded a little soft due to the heat.

“There's no right and wrong in a love relationship. A good marriage has to be managed with a lot ofhard work. I can only say that Freya and I were still too young at that time. We were too impulsiveand had many misunderstandings. Both of us were too proud and unwilling to compromise andtolerate each other. Finally, this led to the divorce without a choice.”

He sighed softly and looked up at Jace, who said nothing. “Jace, I feel sorry for you.” Finally, a hintof apology and remorse flickered in Lucas’s deep eyes. “In the beginning, I delayed the divorcebecause I was afraid that the broken family would hurt you.” He paused for a while and said with astrangled voice in his calm tone, “Do you know how much pain I felt when I found out about yourdivorce?”.

Lucas’s eyes glistened. “I told Luna about it. My son has gone down my path. He's just like me.

“Are you done yet?”

Jace's impatience was written all over his face. He raised the cup and chugged half a cup of tea andeased the restlessness in his heart. Then, he suddenly smiled and raised his head uponremembering what Lucas said just now.

His sharp eyes were almost identical to Freya's. Jace locked his gaze on Lucas. “You're right. I'm justlike you. I'm cold and heartless like you, full of hypocrisy and indifference. I neglect others, just likehow shameless you are.”

Jace admitted it straightforwardly. “You aren't sorry for me either. You should feel sorry for mymother. I didn't understand it back then, but now I do.”

"You delayed the divorce, not because you were afraid that it would affect me. Rather, you neededthe identity as the Yuriel family’s son-in-law at that time to lay a strong foundation for your career. You couldn't give up on your splendid future.”

He looked at Lucas with piercing eyes.

"You knew. My mother has a strong temperament and can't accept betrayals. If you don't love heranymore, you should have told her clearly and divorced earlier. She may not be hurt so deeply.Instead, you dragged on for ten years, using me as a cage to threaten her. You made the arrogantand willful eldest daughter of the Yuriel family fall into depression. She almost went crazy becauseof you.”

"Your love doesn't hurt yourself; it only hurts others.” Jace whispered, “My father is indeedheartless.” I He picked up his suit jacket, got up, and was about to leave. Then, a voice came frombehind him.

“I'm sorry for your mother. I don't have any chances left in my life anymore. Don't be like me. Youwill regret it when it's too late.”

Jace did not stop and continued to stride forward. Lucas added, “Sage is a good girl. If you still havefeelings for her, you should try and get her back.” Hearing Sage’s name, Jace's footsteps paused alittle. After a while, a low sigh came from behind. “Your first wife will always be the best.”
