A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 435
Chapter 435 “You're wrong. Humans are emotional animals. Nobody will ever be willing to sacrificefor nothing. No matter how deep your love for him is, there will come one day when you get tiredof him,” explained Sage. Melody's brow furrowed, “That doesn't mean that we should be afraid tolove just because it might hurt us one day!”
“That's not what I meant. The point I'm trying to make is, that you have to understand your love hasto do with you and only you. If you understand that, then you won't be overwhelmed by regrets inthe future. If you decide to love somebody, do everything you can, and live your life to the fullest. Ifno matter what you do, your feelings are still only one-sided, then you have to be able to let go andbe okay with failure.” Sage replied wholeheartedly.
After a few moments of silence, Melody finally understood what Sage was trying to tell her.
“I understand now. I have to be honest with myself. If I love him then I should be ready to doeverything I can but I have to always remember that I must also protect myself and not do anythingthat I would regret in the future. The consequences of my actions are mine to bear,” Melody's replywas filled with understanding.
Sage pat her head and said, “That's right.”
“I got it. Don't worry, I'm not that fragile. Nobody can break my heart! All I have to do is make surehe falls for me instead,” said Melody.
Sage could swear that she had heard those words before. Sage could not help but remember howconfident she was when her mother told her not to fall in love with another person. Sage knew thatsome lessons had to be learned and not taught. No matter how much she tries to convince Melody,it wouldn't work unless she experiences it for herself.
When the car arrived at Rose Garden, Melody could feel her legs wobble. The moment they got offthe car, Melody grabbed Sage’s hand and said in a timid voice, “Sage, if Ross tries to hit me, youhave to protect me. I'm sure if you tell him off, he'll listen to you.” Sage gave a sideward glance, “Doyou know now that your actions have consequences?” Melody eyes widened and she was almostdragged into the house by Sage. When they entered the house, they were immediately greeted bythe scene of Ross sitting with the butler and chatting over tea. They were clearly having fun andenjoying each other's company.
Ross was almost 50 years old, but anybody who didn't know him personally probably would neverguess that age. His face looked young and had no apparent wrinkles. Ross had a white dress on thatfurther accentuated his fit figure and combined with his handsome features, he looks like aNobleman that just walked out of a classic painting.
Sage walked over to Ross and called out to him, “Ross, it was three months since I last heard
from you. You can't just disappear for three months and leave your family wondering.”
"After you got married, you disappeared for three years. Did I say anything about that?” Rossimmediately retorted
Sage rolled her eyes, Ross was still as sharp-tongued as ever. Sage immediately changed thesubject, she pointed at Melody and said, “I brought your dear daughter back. She's your problemnow.”
Ross's eyes fluttered over to Melody, his tone still lazy as he asked Sage, “I forgot my cane when Ileft the house. Do you have anything like a cane or a ruler here?”
Melody's face turned white and she immediately ran behind Sage when she heard what her fathersaid. Melody eyes darted as she looked to Sage for help.
Sage gave her a look that clearly meant that she should go apologize and not drag this out anyfurther.
Melody took a peek at his father behind Sage’s back. She knew that she could no longer run fromher father anymore. Melody took a deep breath, closed her eyes, walked out from behind Sage, andapologized, “I know I made a mistake, father,” Ross looked at Melody, he was expecting her tofurther elaborate. Melody rolled her eyes and continued saying, “But if I was given another chance, Iwould still make the same choice.”
