A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 472
Chapter 472 The police station was right next to the district, and they arrived on the scene prettyquickly. After a brief investigation and questioning, Sage and Luna headed to the police station withthe officers..
Jace and Yoel wanted to go along, but Sage turned around to stop them, “Why are you followingme?” Jace said, “I'm one of the witnesses.” . Yoel responded, “I just wanted justice for you. I alsowant you to tell me what Melody put in the pistachios. I really thought I was going crazy...”
Yoel had never doubted his existence so much before that.
All Sage said to him was, “As you deserved.”
Yoel was at a loss for words.
Seeing as Sage had been gone for a while, Luther called Sage. His face shifted upon learning thatshe was in the police station. “What happened?”
Sage did not say much. All she said was no big deal and that she should be done with it soon.Luther and Ross were worried and decided to go over. Ross pushed the master bedroom door openand saw that Melody was sitting in the corner, reflecting on her mistakes. He said to her, “We'regoing to the police station. Do you want to come along, or would you rather stay home?” “Policestation? What happened?” Melody's eyes widened. “Something happened to Aunt Sage...” Withoutwaiting for Ross to finish his sentence, Melody’s face shifted, and she shoved Ross out of the room."What are we waiting for then? Let's go help her!” On their way there, Melody, learned thatsomeone had attempted intentional homicide but did not succeed. She let out a sigh of relief. “Ithought Aunt Sage got angry and did something to Brother Rich.” Ross did not respond to herramble, but Luther turned around and said to her, “I thought you only have men in your mind nowand had completely forgotten about your Aunt Sage.” “Why would you say such things, UncleLuther.”
Melody continued, “It's true that I like Yoel, but family is more important than anything else. Iwouldn't have survived if it wasn't for Aunt Sage. Ross here would've starved me to death.” Rossturned around and glared at her. Melody tilted her head and asked, “Why are you staring at me?”“I'm looking at the ungrateful girl I raised with my own hands.”
Ross could not believe how ungrateful his daughter was.
Melody hummed sarcastically as she defended herself, “I'm not ungrateful. I know it wasn't easy fora bachelor such as yourself to raise me. Don't worry, dad. I promise to be good from now on andwon't anger you anymore.” “Dad,” she said... Ross felt uneasy upon hearing that as he rolled downthe window and asked Melody, “What did Aunt Sage say to you earlier?” Melody looked down asshe picked at her nails. “She said plenty of things...” Sage did say plenty of things to her, and all ofthem were important. “Melody, it doesn’t matter who you fall in love with. Even if you fall for an oldman and insist on being with him, there is no way we could've stopped you.” “Loving someone isn'twrong, but you can't hurt your family and the people who love you for that. One day, you'llunderstand that losing yourself and your family for love isn't worth it.”
“We raised and spoiled you to be a woman of beauty and pride, just so you could grow up to behappy, not for you to chase some man; not for you to be losing your dignity, identity, your body, and even your pride on a man who doesn't love you back “Men would usually not reject a womanwho throws herself on them. However, they'll never cherish someone that is so easily attainable. Doyou really think a man would love and respect a woman who gave up on her pride and principles?”Previous Chapter
