A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 508
Chapter 508
Laura told Sage, “It's not hard to see that Jace still loves you. I don't know if you still love him or not.I'm no love guru, but if you're still in love with each other, why don't you give yourself anotherchance?”
Laura did not understand Sage. Laura had always been straightforward with her feelings. If she likedsomebody, she would go for it. If she no longer had any feelings for him, she would split up withhim.
With death constantly looming around the horizon, Laura had no time to wait for happiness tocome knocking
Sage was not convinced. “It's because you have yet to fall in love. Just wait until you fall in love withanother person. Then, you'll understand that love isn't binary. There are always some externalfactors that you have to consider. Those who are able to be together are always the fortunate ones, but unfortunately, not everybody can be so fortunate.”
Sage did not tell Laura how disappointed she was when she signed her name on the divorce papers. She could not bring herself to tell her that the moment she put her signature down, her love forJace had already burned up. There was no way that Sage would allow herself to return to thatposition.
“Even if I still don’t understand you, I still understand that I should put myself in your shoes. It's yourlife, after all. You call the shots. Forget what I said,” replied Laura. Laura raised her glass towardsSage.
Sage smiled and clinked her glass against Laura's. “No problem.”

Peering from the outside, Kane was getting restless. “Are they still not done drinking?”
Just as Kane was about to get out of the car, Jace grabbed his wrist and stopped him. Kane staredcoldly at Jace and said, “Let go of me.”
His tone was still cold and indifferent. Despite being together for the whole day and spying in thecar together, Kane was still not friendly toward Jace. Kane still considered their cooperation to betemporary. Even if their goals were the same-to split Laura and Sage up-the longer they weretogether, the more uneasy Kane grew. If Laura could replace so much comfort in confiding in Sage, what use was Kane to Laura? The only reason Kane included Jace in his little sting operation wasdue to Jace's grasp on the city. He could easily locate Sage and Laura no matter where they decidedto go.
Even if Kane kept telling himself that it was temporary, he could still feel the shame of being in thesame car as Jace. Kane could only tell himself that it was nothing compared to how Luther and Sagehad already aired out all his embarrassing secrets in the group chat.
(Luther: Congratulations, Kane! Who would've thought that this day would come?]
(Nigel: What day?]
particularly talkative, he was able to impress everyone each time he spoke. Madam is strict towardhim, but she never forced him to inherit the family business. Her only wish was for him to become aman of his words.
“Later on, Mister Lucas and Madam's relationship started falling apart, and they argued day andnight. Jace tried to stop them, but Lucas slapped him, and he fell on the coffee table. Jace ended upwith six stitches on his face.”
Aunt Wendy recalled the scenario and said sadly, “Since then, Jace became quiet and reserved. Heno longer put a smile on his face. Luna manipulated Jace and Madam, and they slowly grew distantfrom each other. Since Madam and Mister Lucas got divorced, Madam became stricter toward Jace."During that time, Jace wanted to join the army. However, everyone in the household disagreed withhis decision, and Madam was worried for his safety. Madam told him if he joined the army, shewould disown him, and his life and death won't matter to her,” Aunt Wendy told Sage.
Sage remembered the day Jace saved her in the woods. It was extremely dangerous since anyonecould lose their lives entering the territory.
As Sage almost gave up on her life, Jace came and gave her the will of hope.
Alas, Jace was not a loving person. Sage drank her glass of wine, and she felt bitter in her heart. Hewas a man she had loved for a decade...
She would rather not have Jace go through all those hardships. She could make peace with the factthat he did not love her.
Laura told Sage, “It's not hard to see that Jace still loves you. I don't know if you still love him or not.I'm no love guru, but if you're still in love with each other, why don't you give yourself anotherchance?”
