Chapter 648

Sage felt her heart skip a beat. Like something pressed on her chest.

She did not know why she felt this way. They have been separated for so long but how was it thatwhenever they were in touch, she would feel a certain way.

It was something that she could not even control. Sage ended the call abruptly, without giving himan answer. She did not know what to say.

Jace felt his heart drop when Sage ended the call. He knew that he crossed the line yet again. Justwhen Sage reached out first to him, he messed up the entire thing. Jace blamed himself for notkeeping his cool. He was frustrated at himself for crossing the line.

Jace started hitting his head annoyedly. And this startled Zayne. “Sir... sir, please calm down. Let'stalk it out, hmm? Stop hitting your head like that. Your head didn't do anything wrong.” Jace justunderwent cranial surgery and Jace should not be attacking his head. Ignoring Zayne, Jace grabbedhis phone, inhaled sharply, and sent a message to Sage: (I don't mean anything else. I hope youhave a good time at Yathein. Don't worry about anything else here, you still have me.)

Sage tried the cookies that she baked with Tim when she received Jace's message. She opened themessage and Tim caught a glimpse at the content. Sage did not reply to his message and simplyput away her phone. Tim took a sip of the tea that Sage prepared and said, “You're still keeping intouch with Jace Yuriel?"

Sage tried to read Tim's expression. She suddenly felt guilty. “No. I deleted his contact back thenand I only added him back today.” Tim did not ask why she added him again but instead, he askedbluntly, “Do you still love him?

Sage was flustered by Tim's straightforwardness.

She was speechless yet at the same time she did not want to avoid his question. “It's not that.Maybe I'm just too used to him. I still need more time to adjust.”

Sage was always a decisive person. It was different when it came to love. Like a seedling, sheallowed Jace to grow and extend his roots and veins all over her body until he was deeply rooted inher soul and her life.

She thought that she could cut them down one by one, but the roots and veins were all so deeplyrooted in her that she could only remove them slowly, day by day.

And it would hurt every time she tried to cut them down, but she always held on to the belief thattime would heal all wounds.

Tim understood the way she felt and that was why he did not say anything.

"Feelings aren't something that we can control. What comes will come, and what goes will end upleaving in the end.” Sage suddenly chuckled, “You sound like an old philosopher.” Tim patted herhead and said, “All I hope is for you to follow your heart and I don't even want you to lower yourselffor anything or anyone, okay?"

“I know. Who dares to wrong me when I have you and the rest of my brothers?”

She smiled and drank a sip of tea. “Oh, right,” Sage was suddenly reminded of something, “I've senta gift to Iceman, has he received it?”
