A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 720
Chapter 720 The blood-stained look from Sage’s eyes scared Flynn and froze him up. Felipebumped his second brother and approached with an apologetical smile, “Sage, don't be angry. Wedon't have any means of that. We just hope you would consider executing Jace's will.” “I won'tconsider it,” her face was emotionless from the start, “I'm not his wife and do not have theauthority.”
“Butler, escort the guest out,” Sage said. Without any further words, she went upstairs.
After getting the cold shoulder, Flynn and Felipe failed to accomplish their mission and evenoffended Sage. Their faces looked very terrible.
Zachary furrowed his brows with dissatisfaction, “Uncle Flynn, what you said was just terrible. Iwould be angry too if I was Sage. Is that the way to talk when you are begging at someone?”
“I...” Flynn was out of words.
"Zachary's right. Dad, Sage was never in debt to our family. Even when Jace left so many things toher in his will, she never wanted anything. It was the both of you who were scared of her takingeverything away,” Henry defended Sage too and complained to his father, “you begged Sage totake it and she didn't even budge. How embarrassing it is.”
'So it's my fault?” Flynn thought.
"Alright. Stop it, you two. Do you think we feel good about this?” Felipe glared at Henry andZachary. He remembered how tired Sage was and how slim she became and did not feel goodabout it too. Sage was just around her twenties. Did they go too far?
“Let's go back first,” Felipe said. Flynn furrowed his brows, “Going back now? But they haven'tagreed!” Felipe said, “It's not used for us to stay even if we begged them for three days straight.Let's go back to think of a better solution.” Four of them left with gloomy expressions on theirfaces.
When Sage returned to her room, she went to the wine chiller and took out a bottle of red wine. She poured herself a glass and downed half of the glass. Someone knocked at the door. She wentover to open the locked door.
“Granpa.”
Wayne came in with his tobacco pipe in his mouth. The nicotine odor freshened up Sage’s mind alittle. Both of them expressed how depressed they were by smoking and drinking. “Pour me a glass.I'll drink with you,” Wayne said as he put off the fire in his tobacco pipe and put it away.
Sage poured half a glass for Wayne. When Wayne wanted to finish it in one go, she quicklystopped him, “Grandpa, although the alcohol level of red wine is less than white wine, the after—effect is strong. Take a small sip each time instead.” “I know, I know,” Wayne said as he took a smallsip.
Sage saw Wayne bring over The Starry Night painting. Her eyes focused on it as she opened it up toreveal the livelihood of the city with surreal lifelike paintings.
“This is a good imitation painting.” Sage felt by touching the paper that was deliberately beingaged. Her eyes appeared to be shimmering. “It's absolutely good,” Wayne took another sip of wineand said, “can you imagine this is a work from a kid at the age of ten?” “What?” Sage raised herhead and widened her eyes, “ten years old?" Experts knew where to look. It was a good imitationbut from the stroke of the painting, Sage could tell it could be a word of a child. The only thing shedid not expect was that kid was only ten years old.
Being shocked, Sage was stupefied for a moment, “Grandpa Mendoza told you who's the artist ofthis painting?” “Yeap.” Wayne said, “I couldn“t help myself and force him to tell me for almost a day.At first, he was unwilling to tell me. In the end, I told him that if he won't tell me then no matter howmany people come and beg me to go back, I won't go back That's when he told me.” Sage closedher eyes and thought for a while, “This painting looked like it was around for quite some time. Theartist was ten years old then, he probably isn't young anymore.” “Indeed,” Wayne sighed gloomily,“he’s in his thirties by now. He started painting this when he was ten years old and finally finished itwhen he was fifteen years old. It took him five years to complete this painting.”
